she's so adorable. one of the most ethereal, beautiful, angelic singers my ears have ever been blessed to hear. i love her voice, her smile, her outfits, her cute stage mannerisms, and of course the iconic arm movements. she's absolutely gorgeous and within temptation is one of the most criminally underrated bands. i love how there is always an underlying emotion of hope and light in their music, even with all the depth and intensity of gothic doom metal.
I remember one of her interviews, where she said they recently had their 500'th concert. It was probably somewhere near 2008...Now I see this 2013 live "Restless" and it is so emotional. These guys/girls are highly professional musicians. Respect.

In Sharon's case she sounds exceptional across her range. However, she will have a range (tessitura) in which she feels more comfortable singing those notes. All singers do. As to what it is you'd have to ask her, because she's so good - I couldn't tell and personal,y I don't want to know! LOOOOOOOOVE this song- gives me goosebumps.

It's also amaing that such a voice plays so well into hard rock properly. But never the less she is a Mezzo. Songs like Angels further confuse because the way the audio sounds. Look up other well trained Mezzo's. They can hold a lovely high pitch, but could never hold a candle to the full resonance of a top end Soprano key like a D6

Having a lighter voice or excelling in head voice does not make one a Soprano. And she has a good dark tone when she needs it. I have never seen one piece of evidence showing her as a Soprano.
