I just bought this 4k hdr and Sony 4k 65" 4 days ago from Best Buy. Your video is very good explaining us newbies how everything works. Great editing, graphics and information....thank you
I have it and I love it. Bought mine on on Facebook market place for $85 basically new. Lady who sold it said her husband never used it since they didn't have a 4k t.v. so I said, I'll take it if you're hands. Hehe.
Wow ! Finally found the absolute best review of the Sony X800 UBP on RUclips. Great content, well presented and super informative. Thanks for helping me decide the big brother Sony X1000 is the right universal disc player to add to my home theater.
I've had mine for a few months and it's worked perfectly except last weekend when I played a blu-ray disc of an old black and white Frankenstein movie. When I rewound it a bit (to catch some dialogue I missed and stopped it at that point), the image froze and I couldn't get out of it, or even turn the power off! I finally turned the power bar off, turned the player back on, and it worked fine. I tried the rewind thing again to see what would happen, and the same freezing thing occurred, and again, had to turn the power bar back off then on. However, I've used it since with other movies (rewinding too) and it's worked fine! I wonder if it doesn't work so well with old b&w movies somehow, or if that disc was slightly defective. I hope it doesn't happen again!
I wonder if that part of the DVD is dirty? I google the subject and came up with this: www.wikihow.com/Clean-a-DVD It may be worth a try. Thanks for watching!
Thanks. Actually, it seems to be behaving now, however, with another blu-ray disc I skipped an intro with ads to get straight to the show, and instead of playing, the screen simply went black, with no sound. So I pressed eject to open the disc, then pressed it again to close it, and it still didn't work when attempting the same thing. But when I tried fast forwarding from the intro ads, straight to the main feature, it worked. So, basically, it's only screwed up a couple of times since I got it during a Boxing Day sale at Best Buy. Otherwise, everything about it is excellent- picture, sound and so on. Seems to be moody. But just about every electronic device I have (whether it be computer, digital cameras, or synthesizer, etc.) have these little hissy fits a few times a year!
Hell yea. Try playing RUclips music on a streaming device like roku, firestick etc. and then try playing it on this player. The sound quality is absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away.
It's sad that modern blu-ray players don't have analog audio out anymore, but fortunately, my amplifier has coaxial input. BTW is there some build in display? I don't see anything there. When I want to play only audio CD, it's annoying turning on TV because of that.
I have the Sony UBP.-X800, but the only apps I have and can get is Netflix, Spotify and two others.. I wonder why I can't see any of the ones you have! Like Amazon Video, I would love to have that on my UBP-X800 too.. You have any clue why this is?
Great video, short and informative.... I had a question on HDD/USB playback....Is it possible to play movies in full screen without that ugly black bars on top and bottom and What is maximum storage capacity of HDD that this player supports ?
The movies that have bars at the top and bottom of the screen were shot wider than a 16x9 television monitor can show, so when it fits on your tv, the only way to see the entire image is with bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Most tv's have some sort of zoom in option. It may get rid of the black bars, but you will cut off the sides of the film. It's a matter of preference. I am not sure how much internal storage the player has. I believe most of the content you use on it is streamed, so having a lot of storage is not necessary. You can plug in a USB drive. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I love this player very user friendly and handles HDR10 but the only bad thing about this player is no Dolby Vision the ubp 700 supposed to have Dolby Vision update but player has a cheaper build quality over the x800
I would like to see the inside of this unit, especially the drive. Build quality? What build quality? It may be only slightly better built than the average plastic garbage that is out there today. The drive is probably very noisy, as they usually are in cheap players. Too bad mid-range players will no longer be built! :-(
According to the link i have done hd tv test ruclips.net/video/L00tCX53JiI/видео.html the X700 does now support Dolby vision because of the new firmware update from Sony and the newer X800 and the next one up from the X800 wont because the chip set inside does not support Dolby vision so sony cant put a new firmware for them
Hi I do like + have owned many SONY Equipment in the past + I'm looking at getting A4K (TV) + A 4K (TV), And yes the SONY UBP - X800 - Blu-Ray Player. the 1st Moan the unit has NO Front LED Display Come on Sony get with the 21st Cenceruity!!!!!! + the newer Panasonic + Luna are slightly more , EXpensive But well worth it Numbed
I studied reviews about the Panasonic UB900, and though it's VERY expensive, the thing I like about it is that it seems to be the absolute best (between the big three: Panasonic UB900, Oppo 203 and the Sony UBP X800) insofar as upscaling DVDs to the very highest quality, which is nice if you've got a vast DVD collection.
I smiled when you showed the differences when playing back DVDs, Blu-ray 's and Ultra's by using those boxes.
It does a very good job in upscaling regular DVD's.
Wow, I was surprised at how good regular DVD’s looks on this player...pretty impressive. And the 4k playback is stunning.
I love the build quality over the x 700 model.

Do you recommend X700 or X800?

Hello! Do you know if the device plays MKV files with True HD Atmos audio codec via USB?
Can someone explain me why my sonos beam gen 2 doesnt work with this player? The audio comes out from the tv
What’s Hi-Res audio for and does it help my 4k discs sound better?
Hell yea. Try playing RUclips music on a streaming device like roku, firestick etc. and then try playing it on this player. The sound quality is absolutely phenomenal. I was blown away.
Does it have bluetooth also?
It's sad that modern blu-ray players don't have analog audio out anymore, but fortunately, my amplifier has coaxial input.

IF I HAVE A DOLBY ATMOS RECEIVER, DO I NEED TO ALSO BUY A DOLBY ATMOS DVD PLAYER OR CAN I USE 1 LIKE SONY UBP - 800 OR SONY UPB - X700?

@Mirtur
Too late for you (a year on) but Sony is notorious for eliminating apps when they make firmware updates.

Leave bars alone.
How do you upscale DVD, cause I put one in and didn’t really see a difference. (All settings on Auto)
I was wondering what type of surround system I should buy for this
can we playback 4K HDR movies (with Dolby Atmos/ DTS:X audio) from HDD through the front USB port?
I don’t have a 4K tv. I have a Dolby atmos receiver however. Will this player work with my tv?
Yes, it will work, you just won't be able to experience 4k until you get a TV capable of 4k.
Disks but not mkv 4k via the usb no atmos recognised
Can I use this without a 4K TV? I know I won't have the best resolution but I was wondering if using this with a Full HD TV could cause any problems
I believe you can set it to work with a HD tv just fine.
thanks. great review
Is this Blu ray player region free?
Forget dolby vision this is dolby atmos this machine is a beast I love it🖒
ian mingins you do realise dolby atmos and dolby vision are sound vs video...right...?

Very nice explanation bro.. Thanks
Thanks for watching!

is there any way to play atmos 7.1 mkv file through usb?
My problem exactly. I've asked will it play mt2s 4k with atmos nobody can answer
USB ports NTFS support 64 GB 2.0 flash drive
Found this video after buying 2 units from the thrift store at $10 each.
Is this player region free
Will it play multi-channel SACD?
Yes
Dolby Vision update?
confirmed
Thinking about getting this how do things look on it?
I would like to see the inside of this unit, especially the drive. Build quality? What build quality? It may be only slightly better built than the average plastic garbage that is out there today. That includes your beloved OPPO.
NICE ❤😂🎉😢😮😅😊
does this support dolby vision?
It does not. The LG player said that it would eventually get dolbyvision with an update, but that never happened.

This or Panasonic UB700?
That’s a great question. I’ve not tested the Panasonic. Will look into it. Thanks for watching.

Show 👏👏👏👏
👍👍👍x800
But wut If my tv has Dolby Vision and I Buy a DVD player that doesnt support it? Can I still watch it on Dolby Vision?
No, all your equipment needs to be capable of dolby vision including the source.
Unfortunately, no USB 3.0 port.
Great.....
Nice but built like a tank 🤔
It’s not quite a tank, but for its cost, it’s pretty well built.
Can it play sacd’s?
Ethan Winstead yes
My question is can it play dvd audio?
