Hello @naeyo, thank you for the feedback. From my experience DaVinci Resolve is really not suited for audio visualizers, you can make them, but it depends on what you're looking for. From the visualizer playlist that I have, the one that uses MIDI is probably the simplest ruclips.net/p/PLg4tPAeoYVcV65GEYTFOqItlBRdd3mPUs When it comes to other softwares, I know you can make audio visualizers in Blender. I did stumble on musicvid.org, which seems abandoned, but they made a new version on vizzy.io so that's something you could look into.
Thank you. I will go through your playlist and start with the most easy part and learn more. This video was very advanced. Will look at the other suggestions as well. I just need some waveform visual and then save it like a template for easy adding my music to it. Without doing the same procedure every time I add new audio. I think that can be done?

Hey @murfad I was using the studio version when making this video. However, during my first attempt at making a visualizer I used the free version of DaVinci Resolve, so look at the video to see if there is any differenece ruclips.net/video/I--pyLXjKqc/видео.html My system was the same in both examples (Ryzen 5 2600 @4GHz all core, GTX 1060 6GB, 2x16 GB DDR4 RAM @3200MHz, 1TB SSD as a 'scratch' drive)
@@JackallDigital thanks! you created the wav in resolve in the other video, I'll try that, maybe that speeds it up. i converted mp3s through audacity so far...
@@JackallDigital its the same thing. in your video in which you say you are using the free version, its running very smooth for you. for me, with a much stronger cpu and faster ram, its unbearably slow. redners with 6 fps only. whats going on?
@murfad One difference that comes to mind is the clip duration. I probably used an audio file that's less than 10 seconds long, whereas yours is 4 minutes. The timeline frame rate is also a factor, I'm pretty sure I used 24fps, are you perhaps using 60fps? While in Edit page you can go to the playback tab and set the fusion render to smart so you can preview it once it renders on the timeline. What I can suggest is that you use short audio samples and test them with the visualizer look that you want to make, and once you're happy use the whole audio file.
So I made a quick visualizer and used a 4 minute audio clip - I too had to wait more than 10 minutes for it to render out on the timeline (ram, cpu and gpu were only used up at maximum 30% capacity). I can only assume there is something "wrong" with how the audio waveform is obtained, as per the plugin description a 16bit 44khz wave file has more than 3000 samples per frame at 24fps, so that's a lot of samples to process.
I followed this tutorial step by step. 5:40 No matter what I do to the X value this line is still there, it can be longer or shorter but it never disappears, no matter the amount of rectangle copies nor how i move them around can get rid of this line entirely. How to proceed?
Do you mean the line masking at about 4:50 ? I can't say why the masked line would still be visible as I see no reason for it to be visible. All I did was make the rectangle big enough and position it up on the Y axis just so the rectangle was over it (and I applied the invert checkbox). But maybe something has changed in newer versions of resolve, I made this visualizer in version 17, which version of resolve are you using?
@@JackallDigital First of all, thanks for your reply even after so much time has pased since the upload. I am running 18.6 however i was able to find the solution. Hey @Schuo the only thing that comes to mind is the resolution in the background node, did you change it so the width and the height are the same (for example 1080x1080)?
Hi @Darren Evans , I haven't found a way to do so easily and I'm looking for alternatives outside of davinci resolve, because let's be honest this plugin and davinci resolve have limitations when it comes to audio visualizers. However, you could for instance use a transform node after the audio plugin to scale the straight waveform down and position it where you want. You could then use a mirror node, or a bunch of transforms in parallel to make your desired shape, or use a duplicate node. No solution is ideal but it's the only way that I found to make shapes (there may be more). The downside is, each side of the shape will have the same looking waveform unless you use masks to show only part of the waveform.

Hi @Art Survives Artist - at 4:05 did you change in the background node the resolution to be a square ie. 1080x1080 or 1920x1920? You could also add a transform node after the AudioWaveform node and adjust the Center Y position - this should move the waveform up/down which will give a different result when you then use the coordinate space - meaning you should get a bigger/smaller circle in the middle before the waveform is shown. - When it comes to the Ellipse, I only connected it as a mask to the Merge5 node (to the blue arrow input) and as a mask to the Merge4 node, I later replace it with Merge6 as I animate the size in Merge4
