Best tutorial I have seen on this subject. Davinci Resolve, like many other editing software, have multiple ways to get something done. This version always has worked for me, you have done the Lord's work my friend!
Thank you. A previous tutorial told me to try converting the sound file to .MID, and that made no fucking sense. I have tried the MIDI solution, and the results were less than what I was hoping for. This sounds a lot more promising already.
Just to let ppl know, in Davinci Resolve 19.1 they decided to move access to the UI Manager GUI to paid version so you won't be able to instal reactor. Last free version to work with rector is 19.0.3
I wish Blackmagic would build in something natively like Aftereffects. I still have to use AE to do my podcast b/c we have such long episodes that we exceed the file limit size many times over.
Also just thought that usually when something is this cumbersome in a pro tool, there's probably a website that does this easy. And after checking, sure enough there is 😊
Can you use the first method to return just raw values so that it can be plugged into a transform node? I am trying to make just an image bounce based on audio.
FYI, this may not be working with DR 19 as when I right click in fusion, the option "Fuses" is missing for me. To the best of my knowledge, I installed, reloaded and am using a MP3 file as indicated in your tutorial.
I've followed the manual tutorial 3 times but I can't make the bars vary in size from each other, I can only get them to either increase or decrease in size as they cross the screen. It would have been nice if you showed your example in full at the end because I'm not entirely sure the effect I'm going for is what you are trying to demonstrate. EDIT: Saw in another video that when you add the MIDI modifier you MUST right-click on HEIGHT in order for the program to modify the height to the audio. The way it was explained here implied you just click in a random area around there but that's not the case. Leaving a note in case anyone else has this problem.
Audio visualizers are such a common need for podcasts or music videos. It's mind blowing how unusably complicated it in Davinci Resolve. In fact I had to stop using it and switch to a much less professional video editing app (Filmora) precisely because creating visualizer there is a single drag-and-drop action. I wish I could use Resolve for my podcast editing needs, but this absurdly complicated process for creating basic audio visualizer (convert to midi, really?) prevents that.
When I go to audio and try to change to Wave as you say. It is not even on the list. I only have AAC, linear pcm and mp3. EDITED: I went to audio only but does this mean i cannot have this audio wave fusion embedded into my existing video with existing delivery options?
Talk about an overly complex process. In Openshot editor (which is lacking in many ways, I know) you can just click and select "waveform". But thanks for the tutorial mate.
Trying the method without Reactor and Davinci won't let me import/add the MIDI track for some reason? No error code or anything. It just simply... doesn't add the file. Is there something I'm missing about how to add it to my project?
The FAR easier free method is to just use VSDC Video Editor (PC), which has the native capability to add audio waveforms. It's an unfortunate extra step, but it's free software, no watermarks, no website subscriptions, and way, way, WAY less hassle than trying to build one in DaVinci.
@@M1.MIKE_official which is why it's an "extra step" - because you use DaVinci Resolve (free) to make the video, then you export and use VSDC to do nothing but add the visualizer.
The author forgot to say that the first case is simply not optimized. This thing will not work in real time and you will die while waiting for rendering. The lesson is cool, the software is ugly. p.s. I mean, FFT is not such a complicated operation, but due to lack of optimization you won't be saved by a powerful processor. It feels like it's running on a single thread. It's horrible.
Second this. Although my computer isn't the best, I normally don't have many problems with lag. . . this thing said it would take over 20 minutes to render a four minute waveform. lmao no thanks, and like you said, forget ever playing it in real time.
usually for heavier animations you need to enable cache under "playback", even for high end machines. It might be a bit laggy the first time, but plays smoothly afterward - hope this helps
Neat. So I followed your directions to the letter (which would be easier if you actually graced us with some pauses during transitions so we can ACTUALLY MOVE IN LINE WITH YOUR STEPS EASIER) and the fuses menu is not there. I double checked to make sure audio waveform is installed and running. it is. So what the heck?
There has to be a better way to do this in Resolve without it also causing your export to grind to a halt (I say this without knowing how by the way, I'm saying it from a point of ignorance)
For such poor result, i rather like to download a green screen, they willl be absolute no difference except that i wouldn t lose hours achieving visual that was invented 40 years ago and still not pre build in Davinci studio in 2024

前半の部分、めっちゃ助かったわー!!😭You've been very helpful!!😭
Top tutorial! Easy to follow, good explained and probably as short as it gets!
Thank you for sharing this :D
Finally a good tutorial. Congratulation and thank you. you earned my like and sub.
Thanks.

Nice one, thank you so much for putting this together!
cant believe that this is such a complicated process

Thanks for the update

Yep. Or build something into the fusion page that works more like AE.
Reaktor made a 10:1 render of the video into a 1:10. Totally insane, and can't go that again.
Had to restart Davinci resolve, open a new file and then come back to the OG file before I could get fuse to show up.
This fixed for me too ^^
Thank you For that. fixed
Yup. Thanks, that did it.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Thank you! I had the same problem
Also just thought that usually when something is this cumbersome in a pro tool, there's probably a website that does this easy. And after checking, sure enough there is 😊
Hmm doesn't look like it works anymore. Not seeing fuses as an option.
same
Probably a little late for your purpose but you have to reboot da Vinci again after checking the waveform fuse on.
@@ryancooper3629 I had to restart it twice then it appeared ! Thanks !
Can we please go back to calling WAV wave files and MIDI midi files 😅
New version of reactor allows up to 200mb file now. Had a 55 minute video had to split up also.

Try a WAV file.

I'm finding that when reloading the sample, it still says no audio below the logo toggle. 16bit Wav used.
Any ideas?

did it all, and all ended when "fuse" doesnt appear as an option
Restart Resolve again. Worked for me
Not getting the installer popup when dragging the lua file into the fusion page... ?

I had this issue. I changed the extension from .midi to .mid and it worked
Fuse is not showing up as an option unfortunately.
I restarted DaVinci after installation of Fusion Reactor->AudioWaveform and Fuse has appeared
@@emsqrer thanks it did the trick for me
1:05 how to do that from your iPad?
The reactor website doesn't work for me now, anyone else?
nvm it's working now

yea, but in FREE version you can do shit. i tried and almost everything is blocked until paid

unsuported file type at reload stage, but is wav... 🤷♂

It takes a while to export. The better way is to use Adobe After Effects
garbage process for the first one... now I gots the shitty software on my computer.

too loooong
good job
Thanks
