In this video I go over the finishes phase of this garage converted studio. This is a private studio.

This was my best friend Herman, he unfortunately passed away last year. I watch these vids to remember him. He was very good at his trade. I’m glad people got to see his work.

I contacted their IG page a while ago for a quote, and was told he died 😔 Sorry for your loss. May I ask what happened?

Why are the corners of the room at an angle? Is there something going in the corners?

Thank you for sharing the process! It's hard to find much info on the details of installing full wall treatment. I'm planning to treat my studio in a similar fashion and was wondering if there is anything special I need to do to keep the insulation within the framing and not slump against the fabric. With my fabric I can go 5' wide between studs/tracks, but should I add in-between studs to hold the insulation in place? Or should I use some sort of fasteners or adhesive on the insulation? Planning to use 4" OC703 on the sidewalls and 2 layers of 3" Knauf Insulation board on the front and back walls.

Working on transforming a room in my house for my home studio. Would you recommend fabric wall or framing to put next to the already built walls?

my answer is always "It depends on how much you want to spend and how much absorption you want". This client is mainly editing and mixing for his clients in here. He needs deeper absorption than simply adding fabric track to the drywall and covering it with 1" insulation and fabric. As you probably know 1" deep absorption is only really to get rid of flutter echo there is still bass trapping that needs to happen. Since that is the case I have to frame out the walls regardless of how I will finish them. I am not sure if you are asking about finishes or acoustic performance. This will also determine the route you take. Once you frame out the walls you can either add the track to the framing or you can simply staple the fabric onto your framing and cover the staples with wood trim. I mostly use a thin lattice that is a little wider than a 2x stud but I prefer to do fabric track system

@@acoustictreatmentservices9926 Lets say that I can do about $2500 and I already have bass traps. This will be for making electronic music. Thanks again for the answer

@@MayenMusic It depends where you are located. Here in California a carpenter is going to be around $400 a day (for one you don't have to hold his hand thru everything lol) so $2500 might not go far unless you DIY. If you already have bass traps then you are good to go I suppose. The important questions you have to answer for yourself are: Does my room sound good to me? Can I trust what is coming out of the speakers? Am I wasting too much time mixing and picking plug ins, etc because of bad acoustics in here? Does my room look good and inspire me to create music or get work done?

Amazing! Do you staple the fabric or do you paste it?

Depends. I prefer to use the Fabricmate track system and tuck the fabric. It allows you to make interesting lines/designs with it or easily swap out the color. I have other videos on this channel so you can see
