    My favorite shoe right now. Love it. Fixed all the issues of the 6. Heel softer, toe box wider, shoe lighter, rubber doesn't collect stones! Love the ride of the 8 too. This is a great shoe!

    I love that this version seems like a trainer version of the Takumi Sen. The old Adios' for me were a bit narrow and were rather plank like. Seems like this is more dynamic with those race car curves.

    I'm definitely getting an Adios 8 for me for daily training. The new strategies of designing over-cushioned everyday shoes with 40mm+ stack causes instabilities in the gate of non-elite runners, which long-term causes, Plantar, Achillis and Anterior Tibialis issues.

    I finally retired the Takumi Sen 9 at 400km. ‘First run in the rain with the Adios 8. I really like the shoe - It feel like a better tuned adizero Pro (Remember that shoe, Edd?!?).
    The new nylon torsion system may not be equal to rods, but the system keeps the runner honest in terms of form. It’s definitely a 5-8k shoe for me. This shoe probably feels “slappy” the moment form gets sloppy.
    Wider yet shorter toebox is better to the aPro. The lack of any plate means no jolts through the Achilles. It feels a lot like a max cushion version of the Takumi Sen 6/7. The setup is near identical.
    The TS10 released this week in the U.S. - Finally. But I’ll have fun in the adios 8 before picking up my next “super shoe”.

    I like the stability of this shoe, it is very firm and close to the ground and not laterally flexible. It is very light. However, it is very hard on the calves. If you are not strong, you need to do all the work with this shoe. Definitely not beginner friendly.

    Of the Adios 8, Boston 12, Takumi Sen 9 trio I got recently am so far finding the Adios 8 most to my liking. So far done a HM training run in it plus some 400m intervals which split with the Sen 9 and the Adios 8 went just as well. Interesting about the weights as my 7 and 8 in a UK 13.5 are near identical with (rarely these days) both my 8s coming in at 273g versus 274/278 for the 7. The 6 I only had in a "too small for me" UK 12.5 but that was 297g so the effective weight drop for me 6 to 8 is marked. Agree got to like a low to the ground feeling and although the Lightstrike 2 is softer it is certainly still a "responsive" ride but that slightly softer feeling over the 6/7 I certainly prefer.

    • @EDDBUD
      @EDDBUD  Год назад +1

      I was amazed on footstrike if you run at easier pace the heel really compresses heavily in the Adios 8. Massive difference to the ride.

    • @TimGrose
      @TimGrose Год назад

      @@EDDBUD every time put the Adios 8 on I wanted to go faster than perhaps intended so not done much heel striking yet :) The relative softness of the new Lightstrke 2 foam has been far more noticeable in the Boston 12. If only the upper wasn't so big for me.

    Ran with the vaporfly next2 yesterday and adios 8 today for the first time. I must say that the adios is way comfortable and stable. On landing the adios is closer to the ground but has more midsole up front on the toe off phase. The next2 tapers aggressively from the ball of the foot to the toes(rocker geometry). For that, I don’t mind the adios’ stack height.

    • @EDDBUD

    Edd! Thank you for your review of the Adios 8. My last Adios was the 5. IMHO, it was a great shoe which I used for track work to a marathon. • @SagasuRunning
    @SagasuRunning Год назад +5

    Great review… though I disagree about the similarities between the A8 and TS9. Sure they are both lower stack shoes but one is a modern racing flat and one is an outright super shoe, very different shoes. Though I agree, depending on the runner, there is a lot of use case overlap. I just published a video comparing the A8 and TS9 directly, where I really get into the differences.
    I love your term, “a more engaging shoe”; I fully agree!

    • @EDDBUD

      @SagasuRunning Год назад

      @@EDDBUD likely… but from a technology and design standpoint…it is. It’s not a racing flat, through it can feel that direct.
      I’m curious what the TS10 will be. We should start seeing rumors of it soon, especially if we are going to see a late fall release again. That may settle this once and or all.

    • @kenfromphilly752
      @kenfromphilly752 Год назад +1

      I'm in camp that TS 8/9 is a supershoe regardless of stack/cushion. If you classify supershoes as only marathon racing shoes, it isn't. It's a carbon plated (or energy rodded?) racing flat for 5K to 1/2 marathon, because of the lighter weight due to less LS midsole than Pro 3. It's definitely subjective. 👍

    Glad to see the back to the root of the Adios series. Seems like gonna check it once available here.
    I can foresee I will be enjoying this shoes: No more base midfoot blister maker: high arc support; never works for any running shoe; those who really need will almost definitely need to get custom sizing in order to be useful also back to wider cutting and true to size, no more racing fit cutting; which also nonsense as making requires to upsize. It's a lazy way to make a good lockdown design.
    I wonder how the insole shape is? I hope it's in normal shape unlike the Adios 5 had a strange rounded banana shape insole.

    Excellent and detailed analysis as always.👍This is arriving today and will give it a go. As an older runner, I appreciate shoe companies still offering old shoe look, with updated tech.
    I recently purchased the Addidas Boston 12, my first Boston. I love the fit and ride, but I hate the laces and not a fan of the tongue. I think it's a tad too thin and while it's guesseted, it's attached too far down in the shoe to be useful and prevent bunching. Should be higher up. I will swap out the laces.
