People complain that it's "too bland" or whatever but this is EXACTLY what we need from Anna. She's a fierce optimist and her songs show that, this however almost counteracts that attitude about her and shows that vulnerability we may feel when something doesn't go the way we imagined. As an optimist I can relate entirely to that feeling! I love this song a lot and it's beautifully written and exactly what we needed to show Anna's feelings during the scene. Also Patti is an incredible Anna! Hope to see it someday!
Nah, They said this is the climax of Anna's journey. Hence, This song must be the epitome of her adventure. But instead of an emotional forceful song , we get this cookie cutter drama song. Your argument is so wrong.
This song is performed when Anna is at her most vulnerable. Hans has told her "if only there was someone out there who loved you"... during the scene in the film where Anna is huddled over on the floor, left to freeze. We're not going to get a power ballad 'Monster' type song because Anna doesn't have enough power to even attempt that. She's left feeling cold and alone. Anna's journey starts off powerful but by the end she's left feeling at her worst. Anna doesn't have fight left in her at this point, she's practically forced to give up. Therefore, I feel like this song expresses Anna's feelings in this exact moment perfectly well.
Ellie Mehaffy Your'e wrong. Because vulnerability is widely used to express emotions effectively. Its the point where audience connect to the character the most. Its in your vulnerability where you can push your emotions out. This is song so monotone and doesn't bring the emotion we should relate with.
I relate entirely with Anna in this song, which is a point I made in my original comment. A song doesn't need to be forceful for emotions to be shown and you can look at a variety of other musicals to see that. I think this song shows the emotions perfectly, and sometimes less is more. I guess we can agree to disagree.
Despite what others say, I really like this. Anna is meant to be a bold and bright character, but the gentle contrast of this song works - it's like an "Okay, stop, let's actually think this through." Really beautiful stuff.
I just connected the “I was looking for a fairytale and dove head first into his” line from this and Kristoff’s line from What Do You Know About Love that says “Anyone who jumps headlong is gonna bang their head” and it makes it even sadder. These songs are so well written. Can’t wait for the whole soundtrack!
sus817 Even though this is one year after, here’s one more in Love is an Open Door and Kristoff’s Lullaby: Love is an Open door’s lyric is: All my life has been a series of doors in my face, but then suddenly *i bumped in to you* Kristoff’s Lullaby has a lyric along the lines of: I thought I was strong, but all of that changed when *I bumped into you* I mean the writers could’ve put “met you” or “saw you”, but they (probably) purposely used “bumped into you”
This song brought me so close to tears, Patti Murin is a beautiful performer. Her voice is beautiful and filled with so much emotion!! the songwriters really out did themselves
The Anderson-Lopez are so talented! They wrote two songs that won an Academy Award, their work are always meaningful, charming and delightful! Let it go and the other songs from Frozen became global phenomenon and this musical is very promising!
I love love LOVE THIS! This musical is defining the characters more and making them so much more real and relatable. This is like your coming of age/understanding that life isn't that fairy tale you were shown as a kid. So beautiful. This song and Monster are outstanding.
A truly beautiful song and Patti Murin is such a beautiful performer!! Her voice is filled with so much emotion the songwriters have truly out done themselves!!! brought me close to tears!!!
I got Patti's autograph after waiting outside the stage door when they did the out-of-town tryouts for this musical in Denver. What an awesome and kind lady she is in addition to being a great vocal and theatrical talent.
*spoiler alert for Frozen on Broadway* For anyone who wants the context of this song: It takes place directly after Hans says "Oh Anna, if only someone out there loved you", he extinguishes the fireplace and locks her in the room to freeze. (the lyrics kinda explain it, but there are a few ways the song could be interpreted 😊) Because it's still in previews, this might change but that's where the song fell when I saw the show! ❄️
This song gets me every time I can’t listen to it anymore but I love this song so much and it fits how Anna is shivering but still surviving this cold weather lol
I love Patti Murin so much!! She was on my favorite show: Chicago Med. She's also married to Colin Donnell who plays Dr. Connor Rhodes in Chicago Med!! She's awesome! This song is absolutely amazing, just like her!!
This is definitely going to be stuck in my head from now on. Patti does a great job with this song. I can't wait for the soundtrack for the Broadway musical, so I can hear her and Caissie sing together as well.
YES!!!!! ANNA IS AN ALTO YES Edit: this song is. so gentle and simple and beautiful. and Anna is so over the top but I feel like this quiet truth really suits her?? it would seem like it doesn't but it totally does and I can't wait for this cast recording
for sure she's not an alto, she belts the end of for the first time in forever which goes very high. Not to mention Patti Murin has played Glinda in wicked which is very much a soprano role
plus she's probably like shivering and shaking can see her own breath while she sings/speaks yeah kinda hard put energy in when you're literally freezing to death
Some say they have remove this part when they have changed the cast characters of Frozen Broadway but added a new song. This part and the Monster, were my favorite parts of the show.
I’ve sat alone in this room before Hours and hours on end I know this delusional wish the door would open to reveal a friend I know this solitude I know this kind of cold But I had faith in what the stories told Of true love How I’d find true love And here I am in this room again Just as lost and small That lonely girl With a desperate heart Is who I am After all There’s no escaping her But now the dream is gone Because I spent a lifetime counting on True love True love I was looking for a fairy tale And dove headfirst into his Turns out you can’t find love If you don’t know what it is And now it’s clear I’ll never leave this room It ends as it began With no one but myself to blame I played my part In the plan Dreaming got me here And yet the dream won’t die I can’t wish it away No matter how I try True love True love True love
This song and Patti’s performance is truly incredible. I really hope they at least perform a little bit of this on the Tony Awards. maybe a medley combined with Dangerous To Dream and Monster. It’s simply too beautiful not to share. Bless you Patti.
Ahh she’s so amazing!! I’ve never really heard of Patti before (only knew her from all the times Andrew Rannells has boasted about her) but I can tell she’s super talented!! Wish I could go see the show!! ❄️❄️
WOW! I've been super curious to hear some of the new original songs from the new Frozen Musical adapatation this is what I've been waiting for SYCHE ALL I WANNA HEAR IS THE CAST RECORDING OF FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER AND DISNEY KNOWS IS TAKE MY MONEY PLZ
I saw the pre-broadway show in Denver and all the songs and staging were totally different. Elsa didn't have pants, "Monster" was different, and Olaf had a new song (which they added to the soundtrack)
He Lives in you was in The Lion King Musical, although it was in The Lion King 2 movie, so that has to say nothing. The context just has to fit, and it could if e.g. Elsa would have thoughts about love in the second movie
There is a difference. "He lives in You" talks about Mufasa, about how, despite his death, he still lives through his family, his descent, because the past is part of us, of our lives. Moreover, it was written for a 1995's audio CD, "Rhythm of the Pride Lands", related to the original movie, then the song was used for the Broadway adaptation and the Disney Toon Studios sequel. It can be reused and modified because is based on a concept. "True Love" and "Monster" are written for the Broadway musical and feature the moments where Anna and Elsa are both in their darkest moments during their journeys, when both are victims of their convinctions and insecurities caused by their past. Those songs are very personal, related to the personalities and the characteristics of each character. Maybe the melodyes can be reused, but not the songs themselves, because are part of that specific story.
I just don't get the hate for Patti Murin. She's great as Anna. Personally I don't care about the age thing, because overall it doesn't matter. She's a great Anna. She can be quirky and adorkable while also giving you the waterworks.
“Turns out you can’t fall in love if you don’t know what it is” *DAMN*
Sad, But Its True
It’s a jab at Elsa. During the argument at the coronation Elsa says “What do you know about true love?!”
Its
Vera Williams ??
People complain that it's "too bland" or whatever but this is EXACTLY what we need from Anna. True

I love how she still keeps those expressions in her face while singing the ballad, very Anna IMO.
Heartbroken this was cut from the show. It adds so much to her character
TDItaly98 I find Frozen and Coco to be equally beautiful films.
Me? Crying? No...
"Turns out, you can't find love if you don't know what it is." That line really got me. So beautiful.
I love love LOVE THIS!
This musical is defining the characters more and making them so much more real and relatable. This is like your coming of age/understanding that life isn't that fairy tale you were shown as a kid. So beautiful. This song and Monster are outstanding.
I really want to hear Kristen Bell sing this now!!!
This is like Elsa’s “monster” self-realization song. Cool.
*spoiler alert for Frozen on Broadway*
For anyone who wants the context of this song: It takes place directly after Hans says "Oh Anna, if only someone out there loved you", he extinguishes the fireplace and locks her in the room to freeze.
(the lyrics kinda explain it, but there are a few ways the song could be interpreted 😊)

Katherine Steele kinda obvious 😂. Love your videos also 😂
THEATRE THURSDAY FAM
Oh hi I love you
I LOVE YOUUUUU
Thank you! Loving this score and I sure hope I find a way to see the show #theatrethursdayfam
This song gets me every time I can’t listen to it anymore but I love this song so much and it fits how Anna is shivering but still surviving this cold weather lol
On its own the song was amazing, but the singers expressions and the emotions she potrayed in the song made it absolutely breathtaking!
I love Patti Murin so much!! She was on my favorite show: Chicago Med. She's also married to Colin Donnell who plays Dr. Connor Rhodes in Chicago Med!! She's awesome! This song is absolutely amazing, just like her!!
A 30 year old man who bawled his eyes when saw this being sung on Frozen Broadway. So good.
SO GOOD 😭♥️
so true :')
theater thursday faaam!
OMG HI KATHERINE!!
IKR!
i love you katherine!!
I miss this song in the new version of the show :( It was like time stood still for that moment…
Poor Anna!!! I really felt her in this song!!! It's so beautiful!!1 💖😭😭💖
True love, I know I had it
True love, was so hard to find
True love, If I could get it back, yeah
I'd never let it go this time ❤
Dizney (liv &maddie😏)
Dizney 😍yes! What I thought of 😆
Dizney liv and Maddie 😍😍😍
Dizney From LIV AND MADDIE! I LOVE THAT SHOW!
Patti deserves more love.
This is definitely going to be stuck in my head from now on. Patti does a great job with this song. I can't wait for the soundtrack for the Broadway musical, so I can hear her and Caissie sing together as well.

for sure she's not an alto, she belts the end of for the first time in forever which goes very high. Not to mention Patti Murin has played Glinda in wicked which is very much a soprano role
Her range goes down that low is all I meant...she's got the range of both...she doesn't just quit and a low b.
Its quiet like this because its right after Hans betrays her and locks her in that room to freeze, so shes in quite a low place.
plus she's probably like shivering and shaking can see her own breath while she sings/speaks yeah kinda hard put energy in when you're literally freezing to death
Melody Dyk have you seen her perform For the first time in Forever? She straight out soprano belts those high notes
Frozen is all heart we're in love with the 22 songs from Frozen thank you Kristen and Robert Lopez!
This song!!!!! Oh my word! Patti you are incredible xxxxx
Some say they have remove this part when they have changed the cast characters of Frozen Broadway but added a new song. This part and the Monster, were my favorite parts of the show.
I’ve sat alone in this room before
Hours and hours on end
I know this delusional wish the door
would open to reveal a friend
I know this solitude
I know this kind of cold
But I had faith in what the stories told
Of true love
How I’d find true love
And here I am in this room again
Just as lost and small
That lonely girl
With a desperate heart
Is who I am
After all
There’s no escaping her
But now the dream is gone
Because I spent a lifetime counting on
True love
True love
I was looking for a fairy tale
And dove headfirst into his
Turns out you can’t find love
If you don’t know what it is
And now it’s clear
I’ll never leave this room
It ends as it began
With no one but myself to blame
I played my part
In the plan
Dreaming got me here
And yet the dream won’t die
I can’t wish it away
No matter how I try
True love
True love
True love
Haven B. Thanks for the lyrics
This song and Patti’s performance is truly incredible. I really hope they at least perform a little bit of this on the Tony Awards. maybe a medley combined with Dangerous To Dream and Monster. It’s simply too beautiful not to share. Bless you Patti.
I’m looking forward to this live next January!! ❤️💞🎶
Awesome the Lopez's with another hit song under their belt!
I love the way Patti sings this!❤️❤️
This song makes me cry EVERY TIME I hear it. Really got to me when I got rejected for a certain program I really wanted to be a part of.
The part where she says “dreaming got me here, and yet the dream won’t die, I can’t wish it away, no matter how I try” is just so powerful
This soundtrack and songs are breathtaking!!! I love it!!this musical is gonna rock!!
Still just as emotional and impacting as it was Denver!!! Go, Patti! Can't wait to see you and Caissie in New York City!
Gorgeous! I just know my wife is going to cry at this song when we see this show. Heck...I just about did. LOL
Ahh she’s so amazing!! I’ve never really heard of Patti before (only knew her from all the times Andrew Rannells has boasted about her) but I can tell she’s super talented!! Wish I could go see the show!! ❄️❄️
I saw the musical on Sunday, it was wonderful! I love it so much, I plan to go see it again with my sister!!
Who’s here when they cut this from the musical?
And PATTI’S gonna have a baby girl! 💗💗💗💗
"That lonely girl with a desperate heart
Is who I am after all."
Yeahhh.
I adore this so much, I can't wait too hear the whole entire soundtrack for this musical! Keep up the amazing work!
I LOVE ALL THE NEW SONGS THEY WROTE!!!! So beautiful

Tbh I wan't really a fan of the film, but I'm really digging these new songs
I did like the movie but only seen it once. I'm liking the new songs too. The Broadway version itself isn't just intensely interesting me enough

This is my second favorite song on the entire soundtrack (second only to Monster) and I'm so bummed they cut it from the stage production!
I saw the pre-broadway show in Denver and all the songs and staging were totally different. Elsa didn't have pants, "Monster" was different, and Olaf had a new song (which they added to the soundtrack)
BEAUTIFUL 😇🎶🎶🎶❤☃❄☃❄☃❄❤🌸🌸🌸❤🌿🌿❤🌿❤🌎🌎🌎❤😇😇😇❤🌸🌸🌸❤❤❤!!!

BEST! i always love Frozen from the first day!
This is so wonderful! And I also loved the Danone add! ❤️🤧
I love Frozen
I want these and Monster in frozen 2.
Heidyjackson14 they can’t because Frozen 2 is a sequel and not a remake or retelling, so these songs would not make sense to be put in there
He Lives in you was in The Lion King Musical, although it was in The Lion King 2 movie, so that has to say nothing. The context just has to fit, and it could if e.g. Elsa would have thoughts about love in the second movie
Heidyjackson14 is Idina’s voice strong enough after her vocal damage to sing monster tho?
There is a difference.

Maybe the melodyes can be reused, but not the songs themselves, because are part of that specific story.
Idina's vocal damage? wat are you talking about?

OH MY GOODNESS CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHEN THIS ALBUM WILL BE OUT!!!!! I NEED IT NOW
Sarah Hamilfan bruh well now it is lol
That's a stunning piece! It sort of reminds me of More to the Story from Shrek the musical
It’s your FAVORITE?? Then how did you justify cutting it? It was my favorite new song too!!!
She is AMAZING!
Wow i love her singing!
This song was so peaceful
Did they really take thus song out of the nwe shows? Damn i really like this song
