Strange that you didn't ever hear about Depeche Mode, i mean they are one of the biggest bands of the world, and one of the biggest electronic acts with a huge cult following from the 80s on still filling stadiums. Back in the 80s and early 90s they were actually one of the most innovating electronic music bands.
They heard about Depeche Mode for sure before this video. I am smiling when I see the videos titled “First time reaction“ 🤣🤣 lol 😄 First time reaction, indeed, after 10 at least views off camera. Actors.
Depeche mode has to be one of the most banged to bands of all time. At worst they heard these songs when they were little and their parents were wrestling in their room with the door locked
Depeche Mode is life for people of my generation. They were part of the soundtrack of our teenage years. You will love this band. They have so many hits. This song is so special. It makes me cry a bit.
I am a Grandma who's son and granddaughter are in love with Depeche Mode. We are all musically trained. I am a guitarist of 50 years. I have a collection of every song created by Depeche Mode. They were life changing in the 80s , 90s, and are going back on tour again. ICONIC . They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. My BOYS. Canadian Grandma Lori. C.
That’s what’s so great about DM and so many other 80s bands…they were musically interesting. So fun to listen to. Pet Shop Boys are masters at this, too.
In 2017 Depeche Mode became the only band EVER to play (and sell out) 4 consecutive nights at the Hollywood Bowl. This was on their last tour. They are huge, their live shows are huge- it’s not really just a concert: a Depeche Mode show is more of a religious experience.
Very eloquently expressed. I was 9 when Speak and Spell was released. Attended 101 at the Rose Bowl, and through my cardiology internship, I was able to see them globally from the world violation and devotional tour. I was able to meet Dave, Fletch, Martin, and Alan with a signed album of Violator. Excellent memories, but you expressed how I feel.
@@JP_IN_TX Jealous!!! I first saw them in 1990 for the World Violation tour, been to every tour since that. RIP my sister who died last week and was a massive fan as well. 😪
My all time favorite band! Been to a show from every tour they have done since 1989. I'm heart broken to hear of Andy Fletcher's passing 💔 I'm glad you chose a live performance to react to. These guys are absolutely amazing live. Lead vocalist Dave Gahan has really grown as an artist through the years & Martin Gore is a brilliant song writer. You should check out more from them. You'll be in for a treat for sure.
See you in Toronto, Milan, or Detroit this year? :-) We’ve seen them twice and are playing catch-up. Especially with Andy’s passing and in the spirit of the new album title, my wife just keeps buying tickets. lol
Depeche Mode are a super huge band from England there peak was probably between 87-97, still this band fills stadiums recently being in 2018. Personal Jesus and Enjoy The Silence and World In My Eyes are hits off there Violator album which made DM into a global mega super band . I recommend checking out Behind The Wheel from there 101 tour that concert was played at the Rose Bowl in California in front of 80,000 fans. In the early 90's DM change there look and sound to a more rockier with songs such as " I Feel You" from there Devotional album or " Barrel Of A Gun" from there Ultra album. DM is often referred to as the godfathers of the electronic synth sound
RIP Andy Flecher! Saw these guys 20 years ago and I still tell people to this day even with all the crazy metal shows I've been to over the past 25 years Depeche Mode is hands down one of the all time best shows I ever attended.
I love this band since 1983, first concert I visit was the concert in 1984 in Hamburg. Every concert that I visit since then, never failed. For an electronic band they are great. Try the song "Never let me down again" live. RIP Fletch and Godspeed... thanks for being the glue... Never forget your little dances behind the keyboard...
Hey... similar story for me: They became my favourite band in December 1983. And my very 1st concert ever was the Depeche Mode concert on the 18th of May 1986 in the Waldbühne Berlin.
Depeche Mode were one of a conveyor belt of great synth pop bands to emerge from the UK in the early 80's. As somebody who was around since when The Beatles emerged I think that the period 1980-86 was the high watermark for great popular music. I don't think we've ever reached those heights since.
Coming in obviously late, lol. Lead vocalist Dave Gahan has to be the most flamboyant straight man I've ever seen, and I just want more! I call him my Whirling Dervish... if unfamiliar to you, look it up. His voice is also my own personal aphrodisiac, IYKYK. Couldn't resist. Seriously, his voice is truly remarkable.
I was brought up with the guys many years ago and watching them in the Essex clubs from when they first got together. Mad to think I was watching them in clubs and singing to about 100 people back then. I saw them last weekend at Twickenham stadium, absolutely outrageous

This band is absolutely huge in Germany (especially in East Germany)! At least in the 80s and 90s. But also in all of Europe and also worldwide this brilliant band has had huge successes. Tens of millions of record sales, sold out stadiums. The guys from DM are so what of full (rich) there would have to Rammstein still long for "burn". Lucky enough to check out their Music For The Masses Tour when they hit San Diego in 1987 at the Sports Arena. Good times.
There is an amazing story, behind Enjoy the Silence. Martin originally, wrote this song as a slow ballad, with a harmonium as instrumental back-up. But Alan Wilder, came up with the idea to put a beat to it. Martin came up with the guitar riff. Depeche mode were the pioneers of electronic music of synth pop and over time associating a musical evolution with enormous success. they have been able to mix various genres while keeping together an unmistakable sound and this has led them to be one of the most important bands of the period between the 80s and 90s without ever losing their origin in the sound and in the lyrics.
