AcePro is king camera TBH... I captured crazy awesome Northern Lights time lapses with it in Iceland & Norway, so $450 is fully justified ❤ Also, the underwater Aquapro videos are amazing
This camera is tempting just for this ability alone. However I am wondering how it does going from night to day, and day to night. Are there settings to help the camera make the transition, IE, auto exposure, that would work in this setting?? Some of the coolest night lapse videos are when you go from a sunset to night, and then back again to sunrise. I have seen many videos on this camera since it was released. Not all positive. But this seems to be something that I would be very interested in having. To be able to do this kind of night lapse without having to take out my larger cameras would be great. Thanks for the video!
Thanks! I am a professional camera person/DP for over 44 years. I am also an astrophotographer. I have a bunch of these action cameras, since they started making them bunch of years ago. Even with the criticism some of them get, they all do amazing things. Some better than others. And for less the $1K!! I can see where the DJI action 4 does have some good qualities, but this camera seems to really rock in low light. Thanks for your quick reply, and I look forward to seeing your video! Hello. Nice video, but is there a chance to give the photos out in raw in that mode ? ( with the newer ace pro 2 ) I wanne do the starlapse manually in lightroom.thanks
i’m traditionally a big fan of leaving my action cameras mounted up on the roof, to get long timelapses of the sky, stars, city etc. with the gopro, i can leave it plugged in using a usb pass through door on the camera, and not have to worry about getting the internals wet if it should happen to rain, snow etc. when you’re leaving the ace pro plugged in overnight, does it have a usb pass through or do you just have to leave the door open?
The USB pass-thru door in one of my favorite accessories for the GoPro. I use it all the time. Insta360 has this accessory that is a mic adapter but it allows the camera to be charged without an open door. I recommend this for powering the Ace Pro without having the door open: store.insta360.com/product/ace-pro-and-ace-mic-adapter?c=2657&from=accessory
Yes, GoPro has had it for a few years now and Insta360 has as well. I find one of the core weaknesses of the DJI action cameras to be the night lapse modes. If DJI improves this that would be a good step.
I find them to be good with video filming in low light (with the right settings) but for night lapses I’ve not been able to get anywhere close to the results I can get with the GoPro or Ace Pro.
Yes, I was surprised at how good the Ace Pro is with night lapses and star trails. I’m looking forward to some better nights to get it out and capture more night lapses and star trails.
Why do you have 2 types of star trails? One showing the star move and the other have the star linear trails? How do you choose which one? Is there a separate setting for those 2
In this video I show the settings that I use to do this. In this particular mode it is possible to get both the star trails and a night lapse from the same instance of filming.
Is there a way to reprocess the star lapse? I did the meteor shower last night and it captured 1600 images but when I hit the shutter button it started to create the video but instead locked up no progress bar, just blank screen.
Maybe you can help me: I left my camera out for eight hours, with a power bank, and I only got nine seconds of star lapse movie. When I left the camera out for three hours, I also got exactly nine seconds of movie. Is there a setting that I have missed?
I use this feature last night, and when I went to download it to the app, there are short tails, medium tails, or long tails options. I think I was using auto edit
Yes it sure can. I like it that GoPro continues to fine tune this feature. Presently, GoPro has more options for Star Trails. I love doing those on the Hero 12 as well.
I personally think that looks great, but to buy a $450 “action camera” to only use this mode better the a $400 that does same thing not worth in my opinion. Cool video though as always. Very informative.
Yeah I certainly wouldn’t advocate for buying this camera to only do this. If one wants a camera for great night photography in this price range an older, used full frame or APS-C camera is a good choice. However, if one owns the Ace Pro and wants to get as much as possible out of the camera, that is what this video is designed to show.
None of this worked. I feel like I've wasted my money buying this camera, especially after buying the s24 ultra.. and I can get my phone to do what the camera won't
I use the Ace Pro often for this and it works great. If your phone works better capturing star trails outside then I’d recommend sticking with your phone.
@GreatDayForAHike it doesn't do star trails I've only been able to get pictures of the stars. I'd like to take a video of the Perseid meteor showers but I can't get it.. plus we have different settings for iso and others so I'm completely lost
@JoeVanGogh Do you have it set to star trails video mode? If so, it should create the star trails provided you have a dark enough sky and let it run long enough.
@GreatDayForAHike yeah it's set on star trail video mode and I can't get see the stars. It's to dark.. I have a very dark sky and I can't see not one star
@JoeVanGogh You’ll want to make sure your shutter speed is set long enough. You’ll probably want a 30 second shutter speed for your sky if it’s a very dark sky. Then ISO you’ll want at 800 or 1600.
Thanks so much for this. I followed the exact setup. Worked out so beautifully.
You’re welcome.
If you could add something at the foreground when shooting startrail it would make the photo more interesting and appealing.
Definitely. I often like to have a tree in the foreground or a small building.

Great video. Thanks. What’s the battery you used, mine keeps shutting down the camera. Cheers.
I use this Anker power bank. It’s worked great for me so far: amzn.to/3TSGWVx
extremely helpful. Thank you so much!! Grabbing the headlamp and heading out asap haha
You’re welcome! Have fun!
Sorry. Found it on your link.
Great. Glad you found it.
Thanks this is a great video! I live on the 8th floor in a pretty bright city, can you suggest a setting to help with the light pollution?

It is possible to do what you speak of with this camera. I’ll film an example and provide the settings of how I do it.

Thanks. I cannot say for sure yet as the Ace Pro 2 is currently out of stock and I do not yet own one.
clean and good instructions and video. thanks!
Thank you!
This was truly excellent instruction man, thanks for this.
Thank you for your feedback.
Thank for a tutorial. Result are really good. It better than my expect.
Thank you. Yes, the results surprised me.
@@GreatDayForAHike what is the capacity of the power bank u used?
@LancerXShare It is a 20,000 mAh power bank. This one specifically: amzn.to/3u8hgLA

@@GreatDayForAHike awesome, thanks.
have you tried it with that hohem isteady pro 4, or is the ace pro a little too big & heavy for it?
Beautiful! Thanks a lot😊😊😊
Thank you!
How many hrs you record that wonderful footage?
I had the camera going for about 11 hours.
@@GreatDayForAHike won't it make your device overheat?
I would really like DJI to upgrade the action 4 with star trails.

ciao, grazie per il video volevo sapere per effettuare un uno starlaps i valori sono uguali allo startrail? grazie
Hi there. Your video is amazing. May i know what software did you use to edit the video? Cheers
Thank you. The star trails and night lapse were straight out of the Ace Pro but the program I used to edit this whole video is Adobe Premiere Pro.

The answer is no, but you can easily use Davinci Resolve to turn the images into a sequence clip and voila
Can we do this with the axe or it’s only possible with ace pro
Could this mode be used for glow worms?
Awesome.
Thanks.
Awesome!
