[In my opinion, with a 27 yr career as FSS behind me, this guy is not the best controller I've ever heard or worked with]
If you're smart enough to be an instrument rated pilot, you are definately smart enough to be ATC. If you are kindergarten teacher or a nurse, you also have the chops to do this job.
I know about the last two occupations 'cause we had a professor do research when we were trying to recruit more women. We did suceed in doubling female ATC & FSS, from 3%
6%. But we discovered it's more about public perception and self-screening than ability.

Also I'm shocked by how few women there are in the field despite knowing how heavily aviation is dominated by men. I hope in the future we're able to get to a point where there is truly equal opportunity. It sounds like one of the Jetblues got themselves confused with the other Jetblue's instructions and moved, then other planes followed the wrong one (they didn't know was wrong one) leading to this whole mess. No one in the airport answered calls. So one plane finally called his corporate office who called the airport and someone finally went up and checked on her. Ambulance.
Not her fault. But she hasn't returned to her career, last I heard. I can empathize, thinking when you're in such an important position and you've let people down, it can be hard to get back up on the "horse", as the old saying goes.

I mean what does it mean to fly a plane? anyone can fly a plane. Passengers land private planes all the time when their pilots go unconscious. Its just the discipline and skill of doing everything in order at precise increments to be a good pilot. Anyone can take off and land a plane at least once and survive.

I worked as a contract security officer during my career I'm retired now., one of the jobs was working at Hartsfield International back in the 90s , and depending on where we were posted in the airport, quite a few of us would have police scanners with the airport operations frequencies programmed in so we could stay in the loop in case something that would affect us we would be aware of it. Listening to this reminds me of what it's like when controllers are having a really insane day especially when they're having a heavy push on traffic. This is what's known as" getting behind" as they used to describe the term at Hartsfield. And this guy is really having a hard time catching up. Is the controller equivalent of shoveling snow while facing into the wind.

I love when he is speaking to an aircraft and says, “ You guys should come up here sometime, you would enjoy the show”! He was a legend at JFK. He had the best sense of humor of any controller. That has to be stressful to manage all of that stuff going on at once knowing that one mistake could cause a deadly plane crash. So if any pilots or air traffic controllers are reading this, I thank you for your service.
