    KPHL ground control, airliners littered all over the taxiway's & nothing is moving. The tower is located right next to the Delaware River & very close to where tanker ships are unloaded. A bored pilot looking at the huge tanker on the river say's to Philly ground, "That sure is a big tanker right behind you". Philly ground's reply, "Yeah..& if it were to go off, our tower cab would be like a golf ball on a tee".
    Philly controllers were some of the best I ever had the pleasure of working with.

      Explain the joke please

    • @Kaelland
      @Kaelland 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@itsMNiz You'll occasionally hear the phrase "Caution wake turbulence." Wake turbulence is turbulence in the air caused by the passage of a jet engine, aka "jet wash."
      This caution is important because it can affect the handling characteristics of a plane that is taking off through or landing into the jet wash.
      Such a caution isn't generally given when the wake turbulence is caused by a propeller-driven aircraft, because the wake turbulence is somewhere between non-existent and "technically existent but completely irrelevant."

      I've listened to John, he is a good ATC controller I have no doubt. But I find Kennedy Steve way more entertaining to listen to. The North American airline pilots appreciate, think the British did too though they probably won't admit it. On the other hand some of the European and Asian airlines I don't think quite knew what to make of him at times.
