    Just a tip, turn the fan around.... you want it to pull the fumes away from you not push it at you or blow air into the weld which will make it a poor weld

      I agree about 5he fan direction, but the fan won’t cause a problem with the weld, as he is using flux core wire, which makes its own shielding gas as it welds, if he was using solid core wire and gas, then you would be correct about the fan blowing the gas away causing a poor weld.
      Cheers.

Yes, most of every project is the prep work. Nice job reusing gates for your fence. That looks awesome Jason! I'm so impressed! Fantastic job! Take a bow! Wow, the bed of your minitruck is longer than your Tacoma truck bed. That's crazy! I like how you did your gate number 2 also! The gap looks fine to me. I like the red you painted it. • @Trial-N-ErrorFarms-jk9iz
    @Trial-N-ErrorFarms-jk9iz 14 дней назад +2

    Use a circular motion and stay on the wire 2/3 of your time. Keep that heat on the heavier piece of metal. I am a career construction welder. 1300 psi boiler tubes, oil refineries, and lots of structural. The more you weld and try different techniques on crap that doesn't matter so much, the better you will be. "A grinder and paint, makes the welder I ain't!" Its a common saying when giving green welders a hard time.
    Zip ties will help hold that hinge. I like to put two 4x4 or 2x4 scraps to half-assed support it along with the zip tie. Once its hung loosely, you can kick the 4x4s or 2x4s out and make your final adjustments.
    I like your flipping the corral panel and using it for a gate. I am going to have to use that trick. I never thought about that!
    Don't sweat the gate not being perfect. Looks good. The cows, goats, or sheep don't care.
    Don't worry about getting the gates with wire welded on them. You can buy a couple of old cow or hog panels and weld them on yourself.
    I have been on my place for two years and I am STILL finding hog pens down in the woods.

    I'm not a very good welder, but what I've noticed is that even a crappy weld is nearly permanent for light day-to-day uses.
    Higher impact situations, like moving parts on a car or tractor, and your welds have to be a whole lot stronger.
    But light, day-to-day applications, your welds will hold for a long time.

    You could scooch the hanger side of the red gate an inch or so in to lessen the opening and still have room add a latch to the open side, I think? Love how you just do what ya gotta do and take advantage of materials you already have!

    “I’ll only have to install this gate once.” Gave me a chuckle as I recall the farmer’s son not quite making the turn out of the lane as the brush hog behind the tractor caught the gate panel and tore it out. Suffice to say, new wooden post set wider with a wider gate… we only had to set that get twice. 😂 thanks for the video and bringing back the memory. Great job and the feeling of job well done certainly earned!
