Thank you for this and your other videos. I'm getting back into playing after a very long lay-off, so am trying to be patient and build my embouchure slowly and properly. This excercise really helps.
I'm a music teacher and I wasn't a bad trumpet player, but I got shingles on my face last year and the right side of my lip and cheek is still numb, I am using your very helpful videos not only to try to get back myself but also for in teaching my brass players in middle and high school.
I think ill be first chair in highschool next year, despite my tone being pretty bad. I hope this exercise can build my tone enough to actually sound good when i play
Hi. Because of this video i started to play and practise trumpet. This kind of lesson is very fun and it brings good feeling while practissing long notes. The music with and whithout trumpet is the greatest. Where can i find this kind of blues music to practise everything, long notes, scales, easy begginer songs etc. Thank you so much.
Hey Arron, time for me to get serious tracking your enterprise , round up and organize, see if there might be a best way to approach everything you have offered and maybe work through it all in progression of beginning to intermediate to advanced rather than chronologically . Have you a list somewhere that might help navigate through the volume ( volumes ) of study's you have published ?
That’s great idea! I’ll let you know that I’m currently building my own learning platform outside of RUclips. In that platform, there will be a roadmap for members to work through in a systematic way. If you want updates and special offers, you can sign up at www.onlinetrumpet.studio
Heyo! I'm a beginner. I'm curious as to if I can expand this exercise to higher notes? I can play the middle range with decent tone quality, but struggle when I go above a high C. What I mean by that is that notes such as high E or high F sound raspy, like I'm struggling for air. Is this related to tone, or should I practice lip slurs instead to get better range? Thanks in advance - Etienne
The purpose of long tones isn’t about how long you can play a note. It’s about being able to focus on cleaning up your sound by being able to play that note steadily and pure.
I’m definitely in no place to correct your playing but according to my band instructor you shouldn’t use your third valve slide on Eb. It’s supposedly a naturally in tune note
@@TheBlackTrumpeter Getting high notes, and remembering which note is which. Like a B flat, is 1 valve down. I just don't know how to remember the B flat part. :\
@@sleepvkas I think learning your scales and arpeggios will help you memorize all of your fingering. I am not really a trumpet player myself but I can say that playing scales on saxophone helped me learn fingerings pretty fast.
this really didn't help me much :/ i don't understand those notes except for the ties why make it look so hard? make it look easy for beginners at 0:28 if ur gonna put in Ooh its very easy! then make the notes on the screen look easy
63 year old here, that's been away for decades. Your vid(s) give not only hope, but a protocol to follow.

Have you tried playing Eb without your third valve slide? If your answer is no, then I recommend you test it for yourself.

:( I wish I can improve.... but it seems impossible.
lxvely.r0zes .x why does it seem impossible?
