Hey Pieter ;) well thank you so much for coming in and giving us your feedback and great to meet you Pieter ;) and a big shout out to Holland 🇳🇱... I was actually in Amsterdam only 5 months ago riding there on my folding ShakaBoard z1 and and absolutely amazing city. I’ll be back 2021 must catch up and say hi, yes these SmoothStars Pieter are by far the BMW of carving Skateboards and surf training tools .. and frankly just a lot of fun as well as an awesome workout. Congratulations Pieter on purchasing a SmoothStar 👍👌 which model did you get? If you surf, which you probably do you’ll also notice a vast improvement on your surfing this is by far one of the most dynamic training tools you can get, just look at Filipe Toledo .. crazy fun ;) awesome thanks for your compliment on my videos :) I can’t thank you enough, made my day cheers Pieter Andrew⚔️

Hey Byron ... Nice to meet you man, absolutely Byron get into these SmoothStars ... they are mine blowing !!! it’s a big deck solid equipment beautifully machined and precision truck system ...will hold up well for years ... I’m 95kg and takes me like a feather. If you also surf it’ll improve your surfing 100% just look at Filipe Toledo. I can fully 100% recommend these babies ... it’s so addictive when you find nice places to ride it .. it’s nearly up there with surfing ... The smaller groms can ride the smaller board models that for us older adult surfers the Manta Ray and the #77 is the go. In my opinion it’s a BMW of carving boards period ... mainly because of the beautiful large scollop decks carver and SurfSkate just can’t compete as they’re more like kid size decks ...cheers enjoy ;) let me know how you go Byron you’ll love it cheers Andrew⚔️

Hey Hey Ninoman ;) Nice to meet you man, thanks for an awesome question. Okay personally I love the SmoothStars over all these carving boards. However, I have been riding these things for many years and surfing for 45 years. But if you’re learning and getting into this incredible sport of surf carvers you can’t beat this a Penny Highline Carver this has a slightly easier learning curve and it’s durable plastic deck it’s a little bit smaller and will do the job a treat, it’s also cheaper by AU$100 I think, let me know how you go bro good luck and you’ll have a ball ;) cheers Andrew⚔️

As you know being a rider of some of these carving boards this is ultra heavy duty workout and in summer here 38° c nearly killed me at 60 years of age lol ... I try to always present the facts the benefits and the positives of each board and without a doubt and SmoothStar are my opinion is by far the leader in the carving board arena, stay tuned I’m going to the latest model Carver board with the latest SmoothStar model with new device mechanism and also do some epic skate park riding once I get the next few electric skateboards out the way... made my day 🙏🏻 great to meet you awesome cheers Andrew⚔️

Thanks for the review, great job... & great job riding! Just got the Manta Ray, as a result of checking your vid. reviews (as to help with my surfing... on-land training). Would you by any chance know of a board bag for these boards (for storage/travelling; easier to find bags for smaller boards, not so much for a 36inch board)?

Weird question. I've never surfed before and the closest thing I've done is riding a ripsurf/ripstik. Is the smooth star similar to the ripstik in terms of the way it moves/carves? Thanks in advance XD

Hey Andrew, nice review. I just got hold of my 34" filipe toledo #77. But i am wondering. How did you get those nylon skid blocks underneath the tail and front?????
Cuz mine doesnt have. And none of the others in the shop had it tooo.
Also because the new Toledo model is matt black on the underside of the deck so that makes scratches very visible.

The closest thing to surfing and carving on the wave the centripetal force in cornering is just mine blowing it’s a really enjoyable time. Vid probably doesn’t do justice ..when you’re on one of these things it’s going about 16 km/h and you’re flying.... fun as !!! Cheers Andrew⚔️

Ok you can definitely order Penny Board Carver High Line series with penny boards website online (The details in the description field) they ship internationally and that’s the way I do that. The SmoothStar is exclusively an Australian designed product and as you can see in the “Description Field” I have included how to order a SmoothStar Board 👌 if you get in touch with Rhett it is a European distributor. You should also check out my Toledo #77 SmoothStar RUclips Review of the World Surfer number 3, Surfer Filipe Toledo who uses the SmoothStar to train with .....you can check out my previous videos on that. @@zulupenman My man it's not every day I find a youtube channel with such attitude and personality. It's an honour for me to find this channel.
You are an inspiration to us younger guys, keep it up
      !
I had a few skateboards and Pennys I bought in Aussie while I lived there for a few months, you Aussies just know how it's done :P
We are talking now about the SMootshar yeah, I am 184cm and a bit over 80kg, love to snowboard, skate, longboard, and do all types of surfing emulation, even while running through the forest :P, but a carver could bring me surfing joy and training to the next level I believe. I love to do ride my skate and seismic truck mod board like a surf, snappy turns, big turns, powerslides, 360 powerslides(don't know the proper surfing term, maybe you do
) ...it just gets me to that surf feeling that I need to travel for ( I live in SLovenia).
I checked all your carver reviews and so, Deciding between the Toledo Pro 34" and Manta Ray. I will write it down and as soon as I can contact Rhet and tell him Andrew Penman sent me. Maybe I can contact you on Facebook? You also have a great blessed day or a good night! Peace

Hey mate we’re did you get the rails from

    • @footkinetics
      @footkinetics 4 года назад

Good question. I wondered this myself as the tail/skid plate matches perfectly for the wider Manta Ray tail (a lot wider than a normal skateboard). You can get skid plates from some skateboard stores but usually much narrower than 23cm (width of Manta Ray tail). They are good for preventing razor tail... & good for stopping quickly which is helpful in surf skating with bare feet. Being that I couldn’t find skid plates which fit this board, I brought a polypropylene chopping board (for preparing food), cut it to 23cm wide & 5cm deep & will be afixing to underside of tail of board soon. However, would like to know how Andrew did it for his board... yet, I think you only need a tail/skid plate... don’t really need the rails or nose guards IMO.

Ditto for me. Got a Toledo 77 after watching your video. Been super fun. Have been recommending it to every surfing friend. Took one really hard spill after "laying it all out" while having so much fun on some really smooth asphalt. Didn't see the pebble and resulted in 18 inch skid mark. Thought I had broken my arm after I landed on my elbow at 52 years of age. Nothing like the sensation of being completely airborne and horizontal and knowing that a hard landing is coming. I now diligently comb the skating area with a broom in hand before getting on my smoothstar.

Look this is by far the BMW of carving boards and I have you never surfed better with this is training device both the #77 and Manta Ray ... this board the dynamics and feel pretty much identical to your carving in in the water it’s unbelievable. I’m so glad you’re loving it. About to release a video in the next two weeks on the new vs y Grom SmoothStar for 5 to 8-year-olds I’ll be giving 2 x of them away and I’ll show you some techniques scoop and clap and the one arm swings ...which really helps going to the right correct movement as well as some other advanced training techniques, awesome made my day cheers Andrew⚔️

Cnghiem67 .. So nice to meet you bro, wow big Kudo’s and total respect my man... it’s an epic fall I’ve done about five of them .... I advise to definitely use elbow /knee pads for the first three weeks then you can start really ramping it up ...this is going to be one of the most awesome experience I’ve had like a SmoothStar I think you now agree. Thank you so much for give me feedback on helping you get the correct carving board. Off older guys like us need a really high-quality precision device and this is just a number one in the world... I’ll tell you a little hint definitely with the smaller wheels and after riding Electric Skateboards 90mm any Gumnut or stone people can throw you. I actually taking out a portable electric “blow Vac” it’s the go I might be a link in the next video...lol ... awesome made my day I’m so happy to help you guys cheers Andrew⚔️

@@zulupenman it has been really helpful and incredibly fun since I have only recently taken up surfing again after a 6 year lay off. Would love to see you ride and hear why you like the Jamie O Brian soft top so much. Been thinking of getting a performance shortboard soft top. It has not been easy learning to pop up again on a shortboard even at 5' 10" at 155 lbs after such a complete lay off.
By the way Andrew, as a physician I completely recommend to you and everyone, including all my patients to go whole food plant based if you want to continue to be young and completely healthy. Plant based nutrition is the foundation of health. Take care buddy and thanks again for being such an advocate of the Smoothstar and making these videos. It was a worthwhile month long wait in California once I finally got the product. They were on backorder. I used a cheaper Carver knockoff surfskate (Flow, on Amazon) to prepare me for the Smoothstar. Like you said, it is a phenomenal ride.

SmoothStar is by far the best mechanism on the market at emulates a surf board feel more than anything else by far... ok .. definitely with your weight and height you could either go the Toledo #77 or the holy Toledo ... personally I love the look of the black black #77 looks pretty slick and it also has a slightly deeper pockets for the back foot that’s what I’ll be going for... i’m 5’9" and the Toledo #77 it’s a tad too small for me but it will perfect for you... that’s if you like the design of the holy Toledo ie purple wheels coloured spray go for the that one it’ll still fit your make up perfectly ;) i’ll bring some more SmoothStar videos out with skate parks and riding on those bigger carve cement waves so thank you so much for supporting my channel awesome and great to meet you cheers my man Andrew⚔️

These things are so fun. But it only let's you simulate less than 5% of surfing. The other 95% of it is paddling and learning how to position properly in the line up. I've seen idiots master this skateboard and go get in trouble in the surf. Do your homework learn the other things also before you get in people's way. Awsome review brother be safe.

Hey Carlos, fantastic comment 💥💥 love that ✅ I’m 100% with you my man. I’ve been surfing for 47 years and my god nothing more frustrating than guys getting caught in the inside section you having to save people from Rips it’s a very delicate and very serious sport surging ... that takes years and years of progression and practice as you rightly said timing / ability / fitness play a major part in it. I must say though Filipe Toledo’s surfing has improved greatly as he rides these SmoothStars my surfing bottom terms timing is certainly improved they do add an amazing aspect as a surf training tool but you’re right if you want to get the surfing ...just grab a surfboard LOL, great to have you aboard Carlos cheers mate Andrew⚔️
