  • Join Nagesh, a lead in the Research and Development department for vegetables at the Akshayakalpa farm, as he takes us through the Nadep method of composting - a method of utilizing an assortment of organic materials to create an all-natural fertilizer.
As one of the most popular methods of composting compared to the other types, this aerobic method of composting has many advantages over the anaerobic way. When done right, this method produces much better quality compost, with lesser effort and over a shorter period of time.
The Nadep process involves placing of different organic material in layers in a composting tank. The tank has tiny holes to allow passage of air into the material and facilitate aerobic decomposition through bacteria.
In this video, Nagesh takes you through what the ideal size of tank should be and the detailed process of how this process can be undertaken. This process is utilized at the Akshayakalpa farms too and 1 kg of cow dung can be used to create almost 40kg of high-quality fertile manure.
This nutrient-rich compost is not just great to keep the soil healthy and thriving, but is also affordable for the farmer - making it a win-win situation for all!
Drop by the Akshayakalpa farm, check out our composting station and learn how you can compost at home to generate organic manure for your home gardens too!
