- The late, great Marty Sklar stood as a dedicated torchbearer of Walt Disney’s philosophy since first joining the Company a month before Disneyland opened in 1955. Anyone remotely interested in the history and developments of Disney's Imagineering will thoroughly enjoy this 2004 interview Marty gave on his personal reflections on a number of interesting topics, such as Walt, Tomorrowland, and Epcot. Additionally, the interview includes a number of wonderful archive film clips of Walt, the 1964 New York World's Fair, Imagineers in action, and the Disney Parks. It originally appeared on the Walt Disney Treasures DVD titled "Walt Disney's Tomorrowland."

Thanks for sharing this. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Marty Sklar at a 2013 book signing of 'Dream it! Do it!' During the 3 minutes he spent signing and chatting, he had a way of making you feel like he was genuinely interested in you as a person, and what you had to say. The hour and a half I stood in line waiting to meet him was the best 90 min. queue time investment ever.
--- amazing that he outlived Walt by so long -- and Marty was a Jew --- so that disproves the whole conspiracy that Walt was anti - semitic ---
It’s a shame if not a disgrace that Carousel nor Journey into imagination are NOT getting the maintenance they need. I don’t blame imagineering, I blame executives for the lack of communication.
Thanks for sharing this video. I wonder if you have "A Conversation with Joe Grant", the interview done by Leonard Maltin. I have been looking for that one and could not find it. Thank you again.
Wow! Thanks for sharing this! I really enjoy learning about Walt and all his imagineers.
Thank you very much for bringing this up. I have a book about this thing and I am really enjoying this.

This interview, as historically significant as it is, is disappointing for Leonard Maltin's softball questions and Marty Sklar's equally insipid responses. We're fortunate that some have done real research into the origins of EPCOT and produced some excellent overviews:
Steve Mannheim, _Walt Disney and the Quest for Community by Steve Mannheim_
Sam Gennawey, _Walt Disney and the Promise of Progress City_
Sebastien Barthe, Jeff Williams, and Paul Williams. _The Original E.P.C.O.T. Project_.
Kevin Perjurer (Defunctland). "Defunctland: Walt Disney's City of the Future, E.P.C.OT."
