    • @Leekodot15
      @Leekodot15 5 месяцев назад +11

      Probably just a sensor detecting if anything is there, powered by the car, instead of the car detecting if it's receiving power.
      This is a similar concept to a mechanism you can find in a Game Boy Advance's cartridge slot, to tell the difference between a Game Boy (Color) cartridge, and a GBA cartridge; A switch is pressed by the GB/GBC cartridge, but not the GBA cartridge, changing what voltage and hardware the GBA uses.

    • @RealDeadBird
      @RealDeadBird 5 месяцев назад +12

      A charging cable may not give power but can still be tethered to something in the other end, and not all charging cables can be disconnected from the station.
      However.
      You can unlock the chargeport via the center console when the button on the cable doesn't work......
      Since he didn't mention that, I'm just gonna assume he didn't try that....

    • @RealDeadBird
      @RealDeadBird 5 месяцев назад

      @@JohnSmith-bw8dn IT DOES, if anything malfunctions the car WILL immediately let you know, you can't fucking miss it.
      As others have stated, this video is fake, the latch can be unlocked in software on the screen when the button on the cable doesn't work. If THAT didn't work the car would know, and let you know.
      The pull latch is guaranteed only there as a last resort option when all else fails.
      The cars KNOWS if the cable has been properly locked in place too and won't let you charge until it has properly engaged.
      Teslas are fine, its mostly a problem with some owners that are dumb as fuck and clout chasers.

    • @JulianTdama
      @JulianTdama 6 месяцев назад +21

      Also likely: the pullstring is an intentional redundancy measure that lets you disengage the charge port locking mechanism even if the vehicle had no power. Most, if not all, other tesla's, in addition to a lot of EV’s from other manufacturers, are also implementing similar (and sometimes the exact same) mechanisms.

    If it has happened to you several times, take it to the company. It has a manufacturing defect and the company has to fix it or pay for the repair. Many of their trucks have a defect and that can be fixed. 👌Luck
