    I absoutely agree with you Peter! Once I started noticing insects and giant divers world opened up. The are insects around us everywere we go. I noticed they change dramatically with in just a few miles or even blocks. Micro enviroments where certain insects live and thrive. I have made many hikes and adventures 10 tmes more interesting simply by watching for different insects. With a sheet, some black lights and a warm night, the world opens up to facsinating shapes, colors, patters, textures, behaviors that most never see.

    Peter, thank you, for explaining the blinders being removed and opening you to another world filled with insects. All my life I saw and watched all these bugs, while my friends saw nothing; even as I pointed to a butterfly flying about them.

      Do your bachelor's in zoology and then masters in it and Entomology as your major..
      Roam around forests, outgrowths... observe nature...that is the best way to learn...
      It is how I learned the most
      Good luck!

    I so wish I had gotten into entomology in my younger years. When I was a boy I would search the back hill for old empty beer cans and find many insects caught up in them, hence my collection grew. Noticing insects opens up a world few take the time to see. It is facinating. I live in Berkeley and need to make it up the hill and have a look. I have a collection here as well.

    I'm an insect nerd(especially into beetles) in Turkey and i really want to be an entomologist. I know the importance of insects in our environment and love everything about them. I love finding, collecting and identifying insects all summer long. Unfortunately, entomology basically doesn't exist here in Turkey and its just an extension of pest control jobs, while being very hard and expensive to get into. People look at me weird when i tell them i'm interested in insects. My family wants me to keep it as a hobby while i actually want to do it professionally. Sorry, i just came here to vent. I wish i was born in a different environment, where i could pursue my dreams, where my choices mattered.
    People, don't let bad situations stop you from pursuing your dreams. Don't be like me, unable to do anything, trapped in your room for hours to study. Make very good use of the opportunities given to you, and before life can trap you in its jaws like an antlion, run out of the hole and be free.

    Insects have always fascinated me. God's creations are truly amazing! I like to draw and paint them. I've started finding specimens that are ethically sourced, meaning they live out their natural lives and are not killed for the art. I prefer that.

      Just google ethical taxidermy insects. The seller I bought mine The seller I buy from gets her specimens from an insect farm after the insects had lived out their lives and passed on naturally. Her shop is called Bugsnstitches on Etsy

      @@orangutank626 Maybe in the US or other countries where cost of university is high. In India, education is a lot cheaper. If you can get into a reputable government institution like the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) or any of the state run agricultural universities, you can get quality education for an affordable price. Job opportunities in the agricultural sector are pretty good for entomologists. Forensic entomology is also a growing area here.

    • @orangutank626
      @orangutank626 4 года назад

      Sebastian Cherian but why is everyone trying to get to the united states then? Theres a reason why the Indian education is so cheap bro, as fun as entomology is, it is simply a rich mans career, sure you can get a degree at india but who the fuck would study entomology in india when almost everyone studies STEM majors it would be a waste of money... and also not everyone can get a degree at india me living in the united states cannot just go to india and pay for education i need to learn the language, culture, find affordable housing, look for a job to be able to pay for school, and all around a fuck ton of things to do it is not worth it

    • @orangutank626
      @orangutank626 4 года назад

      Sebastian Cherian and not only that bro those government issued jobs anywhere in any country are super competitive, believe me Im mexican american and I also looked into government jobs and mexico and America and they are all freaking limited and only looking for the best of the best. So for you to work in india as an entomologist you must have scored really good in your JEE or have gotten all perfect scores throughout your 4 years at the Indian Institute of Science or whatever
