- Coldstream Mill ceased to operate in 1991, making it the last traditional mill operating in Ayrshire at the time and possibly the last in Scotland. Originally the Hessilhead Barony Mill it produced corn flower, however it later became an animal feed mill with grain brought in by cart from Lugton Station. These photographs are a visual record of this old mill that is now a private dwelling.
Thanks for posting this Roger - what a wonderful collection of images, so valuable since such substantial evidence of mills is so scarce in Ayrshire.
Glad you enjoyed it. Sad its gone.
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and research of many of the places around Ayrshire that I grew up with and took for granted. It really is fascinating to find out the history of our locality.
Thanks. Much appreciated.

Good that it continues to exist - so many old mills have been demolished.
