You couldn't get any closer to the windsock. Nice approach.
Greg, you need to practice those spot landings more, you were at least an inch away from that windsock pole!
I know, I know, it's back to school for me ;-)
That is "keep your eye on the windsock" taken to the next level! Thought you was going to poke your eye out with it!
Lol. this video is basically just Greg showing off ;)
Nice job keeping your speed up on Base and Final...especially helps with safely flying through the bumps etc...same principal we use...adding power on final in airplanes.
I love these man! My dad and I are going to take lessons this fall. These are great tips.
Another great vid, I think I’m going to become a patron. Superb!
Thanks Tom! I'd love to do more XC secrets type videos.
What a land mate.. Impressive precision!!
My word. That was a good spot landing:)
practice when it's easy; then when it isn't, you're safe
Amazing!
Wow, what a impressive landing!!
master! Thanks for your videos!
These videos are so valuable. Keep it up. 👍
Fantastic! 👌
Impressive
hey guys. i was wondering for your next video if you would do a video on UK radios and law. how to use the radio, what common frequencies to note and ways to perhaps mount it on your gear for ease of use, even what radio you reccomend. been looking everywhere and cant find a decent videos anywhere.
excelent
You almost put the windsock pole up your nose!
Awesome :-)
when going XC, do you have the luxury of a sock where you're landing??? I thought this video would explain what to look for when you have NO sock luxury. Nice landing though
yes indeed, I'll do another video about guessing the wind direction on an outlanding. For this one, the windsock is useful to make it clear to viewers how I'm setting up relative to the wind direction
that would be AWESOME. I'm only 48 flights into this awesome sport and about ready to break out for my first XC. Your professional advice would really help
Masterlanding!
That Windsock nearly went up your nose Greg,
made that look easy.
Waooo nice landing
How often do you have a windsock when going XC?? How about some techniques for figuring out the surface wind when landing out?
yeah very good point, I don't have the video footage to tie into that at present, I'll try to make something up this season. The windsock was there to demonstrate the line-up clearly, but yes, on XC I use other things, mostly my shadow, smoke or water
I always try to land on my shadow, Haven't failed yet. I must be a Skygod.
That's a great idea Kev, I've gotta try that next time!
this could go with some 'thug life' music at the end ^^
boss move
A bird would be jealous of that spot landing. And probably a little mad too.
And when I don't get the spot I hear a chorus of turkeys going 'gobblegobble'.
Hahaha! Excellent spot landing
Talk about a spot landing😁
Very nice shot: could you briefly describe your camera arrangement? Thanks
Thanks Ventozero! It's a simple gopro on a long extendable pole, stuck beside my thigh and wedged against the side of the harness. I've tried chase cam setups but they scare me. Voice is recorded on my phone using the mic/headphone set you get with the phone.
heh, classy!
good approach...is that a super light weight harness as the left carabiner attachment looks like its hanging on by a thread :)
razzadazzas yes its a problem with superlight harnesses as the webbing is too narrow for std carabiners ... I've sorted it now with some nifty narrow carabs.
How may takes did you film preceding this landing? 😉
I think that was his first and final take :) he's pretty good at landing accurately in trickier conditions too ruclips.net/video/Aq_o_1UoQfk/видео.html
Who the hell put a dislike to this video?
Jealous tiny people.
Pardon my French but that was SPOT AS FUCK GREG!
Class of wing: A,B,C ?
Does it matter?
D (Advance Omega Xalps) so lots of glide to play with
Thank you! Nice!
@@PetrPolach as a general rule, the more performance a wing has, the harder it is to land. that's why in most spot landing competitions you'll see the participants flying as basic a wing as they can get their hands on!
😋
Wow, that WAS accurate. If I tried that I'm sure I'd overshoot and end wearing a red and white condom... Do all UK fields come with scratching posts?
Nicely done.
yes but overshooting like that would make for a much more popular youtube video! :-) Most UK XC landings are very boring to watch, because there's usually about 20km/h headwind and the fields are huge, so you just kind of park into wind and settle down.
So for those of us who sweat bullets as we try to dot down in postage stamp-sized clearings surrounded by power lines... how much were you controlling the glide angle with subtle brake inputs before you went 'brakes high' on final... or was the position and height of the last turn into wind the sole determining factor of that final glide before you flared?
absolutely, I always control the final glide after the turn. some of it is brakes, some of it weightshift, it helps to have some wind.
Thanks... keep up the good work - I'm learning heaps from these videos.
It don't get much better than that.
I landed just like that, next to a bull
5 years later, 20 eye-balls pinched on the windsockpole like a satté
I've watched this 100 times. I'm still at the ground handling stage. I really don't care about anything but hitting the ground softly when I land.
