I grow up with this beautiful songs of this choir. When my parents bought their first diskplayer, my mam bought also the first lp from this beautiful amazing choir. I was a girl from 10 years old in that time and I can't stop listening to this beautiful voices. Again, again and again. I listened to the words and try to sing with them, but the Russian language is not easy if you are Dutch. Many years after that I can't find anymore their beautiful songs, so I'm happy with this upload. Now I'm 71 and still I love this original Don Cossack Choir and still they are my most favorite choir. Thank you so much for this upload.

We do not know what we had the value , the Holiness of what Serge Jaroff created . Now that is am 90 , I am grateful to hear again all of this Holy Work. Thank You ALL for giving so much Beauty to this World. Amen
I am 50. I sing in an amateur choir here in Russia. This kind of art is rapidly developing. As for this song, it is an original South Russia Kosaks song.

Such rich history and depth of music. It captured me since I was a little girl with the Bolshoi Ballet, the Balalaika Orchestra, many Russian Artists that visited my town in Provo, Ut. and more. The Russian Basses especially were captivating. Bless you all!
Gods of war I call You. My sword is by my side. I seek a life of honor, free from all false pride. I will crack the whip with a bold mighty hail. Cover me with death if I should ever fail. Glory, Majesty, Unity Hail, Hail, Hail And as I stood and looked on, I heard the armies of the world hail them without end, and their voices of victory carried long and far throughout the land!
That deepest voice sounds like Tuven Throat Singing, which raises the hairs on my neck. And I recognize the highest voice from one of their albums I had. I've missed this choir's singing. So glad I found them again! They were my first quintessential RUSSIAN music and they were "imprinted" on my music esthetic, as it were. Thrilling!❤

Beautiful. And the conductor was brilliantly in tune with the sentiment of the song. Is this the same choir that sang “monotonously rings the bell” in a similar setting shown on this channel?

I once spoke to a guy who who knew Myhalik and the diminutive Jaroff late in their lives - he called them "Mutt and Jeff". Didn't give an estimate of Myhalik's height, though.

Tuven Throat Singing is very deep and beautiful too, but this is a diferent techinique. The Oktavists are masters in the Subharmonic Sing.

He wasn't that tall. From people who actually knew him there's a range of estimates running from 5'11" to 6'2".
It seems to me that he is wearing a thicker shoes that gives him extra height in this footage.
