Jordi Savall. La reveuse

“La reveuse” (“The Dreamer”) is the title of one of the pieces that forms part of Marais’s suite Les goûts étranges. The “Arabesque” also belongs to this suite, which together with the “Prélude” from Sainte-Colombe le Fils’s Suite in F Major, make up this section of Savall’s concert. Both composers were pupils of Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe.

Tras el preludio de Saint Colombe, tratado con exquisita sobriedad, entre la ensoñación y el abandono aflora la nostalgia en La Rêveuse. Territorio fronterizo de frágil misterio. Al trato de por sí elegante que caracteriza la escritura de Marais, Jordi Savall induce carácter y color. Aludiendo a la hondura del tema, logra una expresividad conmovedora apenas atenuada por el arabesco final. Gran interprete, este catalán universal logra hacerme vibrar en cuanto ofrece, al modo de las claves que abren arcanos inescrutables. Esta es, sin duda alguna, la mayor virtud de su arte. Entendida como capacidad de liberar toda tensión interna y encarar cuanto se presenta con temple cabal. Y una lección mayor, no ofrecer resistencia para lidiar cuanto advenga. Ante la adversidad, cabe tener en cuenta la vieja historia china de los dos tigres. Al modo de las fresas silvestres, la nostalgia puede librarnos.
