    Layout Updates:
    A square post fence has been added opposite Pondon platform, stretching the length of the baseboard. The cottage allotments and now 3/4 planted. More seamoss trees have been added to line the riverside, and to add to the small forest behind the cottages.
    The next job involves detailing the river scene with plenty of reeds and bullrushes.

      Glad you liked it. That’s true actually, I don’t do too much shunting really but like watching in on other layouts!

    I have only just seen this video and have really enjoyed it; so good to see the Buckdale bay platform used as well as all the to-ing and fro-ing of the goods trains. Excellent camera angles, as always, and I do especially like the overhead, looking down onto the movements of the sets. More of the same, please!

    Buckdale is a place where for ever evening lasts, as Akashi, as virtuale place, is a point where always moon shines in the Japanese antique poetry. Ponden is another place where always sun shines. I appreciate the treatment of these lights in this landscape.

    I really like the fact that you make videos about the operations. Few of the modellers I follow do that. Sure there are running sessions, but not like this. Great stuff!

      Thanks very much. That’s interesting, I’d never really thought about that but you’re absolutely right.

      I think this should have(probably was) been the intended purpose of model railroading and share it with others who are interested and mesmerised by it just as much as i am. That layout lends itself to good camera angles. Hope there are some SA guys watching this to get a feel of how it really should be done

      Thank you Richard. Yes, I’m in the process of planning an extension to the layout at the Buckdale end. Potentially a mainline connection of some sort with another scenic board in-between.

  • @TheGrover1968

    Like the double slip switch. The last model railroad I had was when I was a child. It was typical 4×8 with a double track mainline. One of my 1st modifications was adding a double slip switch. It was like a crossing diamond with points.

      I started out with one of those as well actually - can’t go wrong with it.

    Great stuff. Needed a barrier wagon between the loco and the petrol tanker unless it was carrying something inert instead? I'm swatting up on wagon formations in mixed goods formations lol!

      Ooo I didn’t know that! Interesting, thanks for pointing that out. Ideally it would be a milk tanker there but I haven’t got my hands on one yet.

    Superb running session there MR. Do you operate some sort of card system for running trains or is at all just on a whim? Paul

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  6 лет назад +2

      Thank you Paul. At the moment I just run things on a whim, although the card systems do look interesting, so I might give it a go at some point.

    Sir, superb video and layout. I am building a layout with my grandson based on a Beeching cut, branchline near to where we live. Could we get a similar effect to the one you have, on a 8x4 baseboard?

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  5 лет назад

      Thanks very much Henry. That sounds great and I’m sure you could. Are you planning a loop or a sort of terminus?

    • @henryporter5466
      @henryporter5466 5 лет назад +1

      I was thinking a single loop with two stations and sidings on opposite sides of the board. Lots of scenery, but less is more, if you understand what I am trying to say. Neither myself or my lad, are in your class, and neither of us have much of an idea. Just an old man and a young boy having a go.
      Thank you for taking the time to reply.

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  5 лет назад +1

      I think that sounds like a great idea, and I definitely agree that less is more! I think your layout will look all the better for it. Let me know how you and your grandson get on.

      @henryporter5466 5 лет назад

      We will, and take inspiration from your wonderful railway. But, we are a long way off that.

    I love this layout- did you ever consider a narrow gauge extension modeled in 009?

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  4 года назад +1

      Thanks! I didn’t, but that would have been a nice edition for sure.

  • @onofrioscriba
    @onofrioscriba 6 лет назад

    I'm sure that you take over the tradition of ideal 17 century painting tradition which has two-dimension you developed it into 3 dimension furthermore adding motion. Here is Arcadia in our time. By the way, is it N gauge ?

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  6 лет назад

      Arcadia.. I like that. You could be the first model railway philosopher?! It’s OO gauge. Thank you for your very kind and insightful comments!

    • @onofrioscriba
      @onofrioscriba 6 лет назад

      Don't make me laugh! I'm a retired old man. Your harmonized color sense and the love towards nature is exquisite I cannot find nowhere in the model railway. You created another world completely independent from the reality, just like dream-like elysium, while others only try to reproduce and copy the reality what is boring for me. I asked you if it is N gauge, as your scenery is strongly condensed and emotionalized.
      I am a worshiper of Nigel Gresley. Bu I know that his locomotives don't match to your scenery. Your unsophisticated locomotives make your layout much more attractive, I think.

  • @rogervipond

    Inspirational. I would love to see this "in the flesh" ! How many months from first inception? (My own layout build has stalled, pro tem, thanks to the beautiful weather - based loosely on Kirby Stephen, so very similar to your own setting ...)

    • @MouldyRaspberry
      @MouldyRaspberry  6 лет назад

      Thanks very much Roger. I started it in August of last year. My progress has slowed recently also for the same reason! Fantastic setting. You should post some videos of it if you can, would love to see it.

    You don't need more than one arrival shot. I'm not too keen on seeing more than one. If needed, two would be OK. But usually, one is the norm, my good fellow.
