I work as a rope access technician in Florida and had to do an emergency abseil. Threw a carabiner through the loop and descended without issue from my stage. DISCLOSURE** I DO NOT SUGGEST ANYONE TRY THIS AT HOME. I AM A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL AND USED THIS AS MY ABSOLUTE LAST RESORT.
Tally ho mate! Have you noticed that the belt has a particular contour for lefties and righties? I'm a lefty so my brake hand is the right hand. The loop appears to be on the correct side for me. I confirmed with 5.11 that the carabiner loop can take about 42 6/7 stones or 600 lbs. of static load. So don't do any long falls with it if you should weigh any significant amount of stones. I've heard that the belt feels different when you flip it upside down. Appreciate your comments with that. Cheers!
Wonderful. I have the Ares Gear Ranger Belt which uses the Cobra buckle and it has the same problem you describe here. Have to dismantle the buckle before removing the belt from the trousers. This lead me to stop using the Ranger Belt, even though it was a magnificent belt, and start using a 5.11 Operator Belt (also a good belt, but it can't beat the quality of the Cobra buckle).
What is the way to tighten this thing? I understand the principal but when I slice it (I have a smaller waist) where I want it I’m unable to pass it back through over the silver bar. I’ve pushed down on the “release tabs” and my colleague got it but I’m struggling. Help. It’s real annoying to wear loose lol
Are you wearing this with the larger part of the buckle on your left or right hand side? I watched another video on it, and the main problem guy that did that review had was that the larger "female" end of the buckle was on the wrong side. As most of us thread our belt through the lefthand side, around the back, and to the right side. Obviously you can just flip it over and do so, but he claimed the contour of the belt made that very uncomfortable and didn't fit well, as it was intended to be threaded form the right side. Nonetheless I intend on offsetting it, if I get one, to either side so the front part will be smooth clear band, for appendix carrying my pistol. Thanks!
Very good review! I have a question about the size, is it true to size? I wear 36 inch waist and was wondering if you order the size stated will it have a little extra on the belt in case your wearing a holster or if you need a little extra room? Thanks.
What is the width of the actual belt? I went to the official website for the belt and it only shows it available in the 1.75" width. Most of my holsters have clips for a 1.5" wide belt. I guess I could reorder the 1.75" clips if I had to. And if you have a 40" waist should you order a size larger for IWB carry?
what about Kydex holster? i have a version of this buckle and when i put on my OWB kydex i have to dismantle the belt the thread the holster then reassemble . is that still going to be the case with this new design ?
Will this work for a lefty holster carrying in the 10 o'clock position, appendix inside the waste band? It looks like the riggers loop might get in the way of the my spring clip of my kydex holster.
It is way overpriced for more than 90 USD just for the one inch buckle is ludicrous when HSGI is selling a very similar made in the USA product for 60 USD.
Hi Wonginism, Thanks for your input. As I said in the review. I was thinking of a cobra belt but the thought of dismantling the belt everytime I wanted to change it to other trousers put me off. 5.11 have brought us the smaller buckle and made things much easier. An extra $30 for the extra convenience IMO is a small price to pay. REgards, MKR.

Hi Cen,
You will love this belt when you get it.
I'm going to order one in sandstone when SWMBO lets me. ;0)

Great video. I'm 36" waist. If I get Large (36"-38") will there be any slack? I need slack for all the gear.
Hi JSTEEZYSNAKE,
You should be OK with a large, there is quite a bit of adjustment in this belt.
Let me know how you get on please.

MKR.
Thank you!
Thank you Pmag1984.
