Interesting subject and well presented. I have a question..
Could you use the Kata principle for focusing on a business\product related improvement?
eg. Set a challenge such as.. Reduce time needed to onboard a new customer, then outline the the current state of customer onboarding process, then specify a target state you would like to achieve first, then run your experiments (create and prove ideas\stories etc.) to get to the this state?

Yes, that is an excellent way of using the Kata! And I have found it easier for people not familiar with Kata to grasp the concept when the challenge is something more tangible, less abstract to them, like "reduce time to onboard new customer"
