    To Miss Dagmar M Dalager. That was one of the best videos I have ever seen. You took us on a wild and fast ride around your city. I had my seat belt really tight because you drive like a race car driver, especially on icy roads and around curves and traffic. I was hanging on for my life. But, it was so much fun. Your city is so beautiful. I think that you are the best driver. Thank you for making this video. The ride took my breath away. You are one crazy driver. One cool chick.

    Nuuk just set a record high of 24C (75F) in June 2016. Summers temps can consistantly reach 20C+ (68F) aince the record was 26C (79) on 7/30/13 at Maniitsoq. AS a weather person, it becomes interesting to know diffferent weather patterns in different seasons in the arctic.

      Greenland weather can be strange, I even seen some parts reach 10C+(50F) in the middle of January some years. I bet if it wasnt for the ice sheet, Parts of Greenland would experience 30C+ (86F) like Alaska and Siberia in the summer. Other than that, I think it would be a good place to visit in summer.

    There is so much you don't know about Greenland, but it is also nice to know you know a little bit about Greenland. Greenland is not Nuuk, and Nuuk is not Greenland. Nuuk is located 240 km (150 miles) below arctic circle, we have milder winter it about +20C, and it is very cold because the weather humid is higher than northern greenland, while other location do have +40C. I use to go out and play when I was a little girl in +40C, and you don't feel it as much because humidity is so low in north.

    I developed a fascination with Greenland, there are very peculiar and interesting facts, One of the Northernmosts settlements, tundra landscapes, Greenlandic language, Inuit-Scandinavian culture, tranquil place, It looks such a cold-weather yet warm-hearted people there.

    There don't seem to be ANY STORES! No shops? But yet, all the people walking around on the streets; where are they all going to or coming from? Lots of big apartment buildings and nothing more... Strange indeed!

    It is interesting to observe that there is NO TREE. I wonder if in Nuuk is there "at least" ONE TREE... (???). On Wikipedia, I see a record high temperature at +24 C.
    (Average high temperature in July is +10 C). It is interesting to observe that in the russian city of Murmansk (that is 5 latitude degrees norther than Nuuk) there ARE trees... Record high in Murmansk (69 Latitude North) is +33 C. Average high July Temp in Murmansk is +17 C. Nuuk is only 10 degrees norther than Hamburg (54 North).

    Who wrote the beautiful music to the video?

  • @maksim5078
    @maksim5078 11 лет назад

    You probably mean: Nuuk is MINUS 20 (and elsewhere in Greenland can be as cold as MINUS 40). I understand what you mean: the higher the humidity, the higher the feeling of cold. Talking about hot temperature, it is the opposite: the higher the humidity, the higher the feeling of hot.

    May I ask you, what do you do... let's say a typical Saturday night in Nuuk? Is there any nightlife? What are your options?
    One thing is for sure. Internet has annihilated the concept of distance, and I really enjoy that.
    Greetings from Greece.

    but the soil is not deep enough to grow, and that is why we don't have trees. I have heard that some people have planted europian trees, but I have never seen them, and it must be a very small area, because they are only found there in south greenland. I have ask my co-workers they don't know much about them too. I guess one sheep/farmer is having experiment doing that :)

    I understand. I understand why Greenland has no trees too. Anyway, I observe that Scandinavia, Finland and Siberia, although at same latitudes as Southern Greenland, have higher summer temperatures than Southern Greenland. It's a matter of air-masses.
    As a rule, the West side of the Atlantic Ocean ist much colder than the East side of the Atlantic Ocean. For example, Quebec is much colder than Britain. Moreover, moving to east within the Euro-Asian continent, the climate get more continental

    Do you think Greenland will ever become a fully independent country?

  • @MissDagmarMDalager
    @MissDagmarMDalager  11 лет назад

    I get why you think in that way. But Greenland is very much green during the summer, and that is the fact why it's called Greenland. Eric The Red "found" (why do europians call "discover" the land when there is already people has discover the land and they living in it?) Greenland during summer, and he appetize the land to europians as "Greenland" We called it "Nunarput" but that is not official name because of Eric. There is geen landscape all over the land, but the soil is not deep enough to

    As a consequence of a more continental climate, they experience a much colder winter BUT ALSO a much hotter Summer... I've read that a +30 temperature in Siberia is something that can occur. We are talking of siberian places that stay North of 60 Latitude North... I Guess that in Nuuk you never experienced +30. Did you ? :-) If that shoud occur, you had for sure all the Newspaper reporting in front-page (in bold type-script): UNBELIEVABLE ! +30 C IN GREENLAND ! :-)

    I'm aware of the fact that Greenland is "treeless". The odd thing is that, despite the fact that it is treeless, it is called "Greenland"...
    They should better to call it "WHITEland" (since it is ice-covered...).
    I've read somewhere that this name is due to the fact that when it was discovered (in the middle-ages), it was full of vegetation. At that time, the temperature of our planet was higher and - for example - in Britain they grew fruits that now are found only in mediterranean lands.
