Complete all of the stages and you will unlock a color editor, which lets you change all of the non-DLC outfits in the game into just about whatever color you want. I just set mine to red and black for most characters.
As far as I know there isn't. If you're having trouble, level her a ton and pimp out her weapon with the best skill boosting stuff you can find. And have Red Hare or Matsukaze as a mount for fast transportation.

It was a pain in the ass but i did it after 5 tries.
