Great video as usual, my fried - what a great week you've had. I read a couple of short pieces last week but this week I've decided on ANOTHER Stephen King re-read, Christine - my first King book I ever read!
My reading has taken a bit of a dive this week. Work is picking up again and I have a couple of part-time university courses that are stealing my free time. All that being said, I did read the first 130 pages Of Darkness and Light. I'm hoping to wrap it up this month as well as War of the Worlds. Just in time to start Wind and Truth!
I'm not too far in yet but it's straight back into it, lots going on, new characters introduced or picking up with the ones from the prologue of the first book. I'm really into it.
I'm halfway through Bleach and have been compiling the thoughts I've written down to post on my Tumblr along with my updates like these one you guys do. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys play DnD this week and headed over to check out that Discord!
This week I finished Tress of the Emerald Sea, which I loved. Can't wait to discuss it at my book club on Thursday. I also started all the books in existence, it seems. My second try at Words of Radiance, which is going much better than my first try. I just passed 250 pages. Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention - and How to Think Deeply Again. I'm about halfway through and it's fascinating. The Utterly Uninteresting and Unadventurous Tales of Fred the Vampire Accountant. Not sure how I feel about this one yet, at the 14% mark. Sea of Tranquility, after Jakob recommended it somewhere. Just started part 2 and it's interesting, but I still don't know what's going on. And The Screwtape Letters. I'm also still reading Dungeon Crawler Carl #2. As crazy as it sounds, I read a bit of most of them most days and will probably end up finishing 4 or 5 on the same day sometime soon. (Not WoR though. I just got back from church and was greeted by a Weekly Reader, how cool! Sounds like a good reading week. Right now I’m trying to decide what I’m going to read next. I’m going to be choosing between The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan, The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington, The Sword of the Lictor by Gene Wolfe or The Road by Cormac McCarthy if I can get my hands on it.
WOW THOSE DICE ARE AMAZING. Even more excited for D&D now. I’ll tell you what the songs of chaos just keeps getting better. So much happens in Unbound and I love all the characters including the new ones introduced in this one. I refuse to spoil anything but it just keeps building and getting better as the story goes, book 3 is a bit slower but it is still building up to what’s to come supposedly in books 4 and 5. Book four recently had a cover and title release. It’s called Reckoning.
Looking forward to your thoughts on The Book of Elsewhere whenever you get to it having read the comics first. After reading the book I want to go back and read the comics.
Today I put down a book I was reading to dive into something very special. An old friend of mine sent me a review copy of a book set to be released soon. Dark Fantasy!
I can't wait to get caught up with Bound and the Broken, but when zi received The Dragonbone Chair from Broken Binding I realized I didn't want to read two chunky epic fantasy's at the same time so I did the unthinkable and put Of War and Ruin down even though I was about half through it so I could focus on Memory. Sorrow, and Thorn.
We had a bookclub meeting on "the book of elsewhere" by Keanu and China. Pretty hot discussion it was. The book itself is decent, not as much gore as in graphic novels, but the language, the language is gorgeous! If you are a fan of China Miéville you definitely need to check it out. An dwe agreed that this novel is the best entry point into the Miéville's prose. And at the moment I'm reading "One Hundred Years of Solitude". Yep, that was me taking a walk after reading The Other Valley. It was the rush of how it ended, plus me being the sort that processes stuff on my feet--I had no choice but to have an hour outside by myself. Geez, I'm still reading The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, over a month after starting, whereas the previous Mitchell books took about one a week. I'm in the last quarter.
