    Try a hammock All you have to do is knot the ends and put knot outside of top of front passenger door close door, then at back same on top of back door close door. During day just open front door and throw it to the back. The space you gain is unbelievable. Enjoy your channel.

    I took my back seat out altogether. When I encountered the uneven floor underneath, I created a vinyl beanbag to lay over the floor and filled it with wood pellets. I then cut two 3/4 inch form-fitting plywood pieces covered with trunk liner fabric and joined with a piano hinge so it could be removed easily. On top of that I placed a custom-cut one piece heavy outdoor mat with rubber on the bottom and a very durable synthetic fabric texturized top. (They are used as doormats in smaller sizes.) The result is very stable and turns my Cube into a mini van suitable for transporting anything. I don't miss the back seat at all.

    Thanks for documenting this Ian. Us Cubist campers are a rare breed. I'm converting mine now and I was wondering what exact model of window covers you used here. I'm having trouble find the correct ones. I'm also curious if they held up well. The whole stick on thing seems flimsy. Thank you!

      Hahaha, thanks for watching. I didn't really choose to go smaller, it's just a vehicle I already had. 🤣 I'd love to build out a bigger camper one day, but I also think it's kind of cool to work with what you have!

    • @IanODonnell
      @IanODonnell  2 года назад

      Yeah, the Kia soul and Cube are very similar in design. Let me know what bed design you end up going with

    • @nboothful
      @nboothful 2 года назад

      @@IanODonnell I will. Leaning “feet between seats” option. I don’t want to remove anything. Looking at window/car hop trays and holders to use small stove on. Lots of interesting car organizers on WM. Also going with curtains instead of covers. Considering sticking curtains to strips of strong Velcro above Windows. Or Maybe running some cord around the upper perimeter for curtains or hanging things. Been enjoying your adventures!

    • @IanODonnell
      @IanODonnell  2 года назад

      @@nboothful one thing about velcro, if you stick it directly on the window sometimes the heat will melt it and eventually it will fall off. So if you go with the velcro route just a heads up. (I learned that the hard way hahaha)
      And I think feet between the front seats is probably a good way to go.
      Might be difficult to build storage around if you go for the diagonal approach. But who knows!!

  • @alisinwanderland
    @alisinwanderland 2 года назад

    I am interested to see how you get this sorted. What is the headroom like in the Cube compared to the van? Will you have to make your bed lower in this one, or is the headroom still about the same, or maybe even more?

    • @IanODonnell
      @IanODonnell  2 года назад

      I'll have to measure once I get the backseat out and have a better idea of the floor space, but there's a lot of headroom in the cube. Probably a little bit more then I had in the van.
