I can relate to this kid. One of the things that did scare me growing up was being the cause of a team losing when it came to certain activities, a few of my bullies, and I had a small phobia of the dark. But one of the Primal fears that mankind has is the dark and Fire
woman that my fear is they look nice but have acid in their souls
@@orlandobritt1460 I know exactly what you're talking about
i dont know why but orion is so annoying for me.

This movie looks so AMAZING!!!! CAN'T WAIT FOR IT TO COME OUT!!!!
Nice to see Darkness from "Pajama Sam" making a comeback.
omg it looks amazing! im excited to see how it turns out, also also, Dark's character seems so so good i'll sure as hell hyperfixate on him omce the movie releases
Looks awesome! Would be great if this was in theaters - so few good family films to attend lately.
For people who experience anxiety disorders….this was such a whimsical, lighthearted HEALING movie. LOVE.
1. Orion (named after the constellation) ironically curious about the dark
2. film reminding me of "Monsters, Inc.", "Monsters University & "Inside out," but dealing with night entities instead
Darkness came here to show that not all Darkness are scary and evil.
There should be more movies like this. Like cute yet fierce looking shadow creatures.
Orion, buckle your belt!
Yeah! From Disney Molly And The Ghost!
Nika: it’s your favourite character in the show: Rick Sanchez, Morty Smith, Tommy Pickles and Mordecai. and favourite character in movie: Katie Mitchell and Rick Mitchell. NETFLIX IS SO GOOD! DreamWorks and Netflix have announced their new movie!!! I LOVE THIS!!! THANK YOU!!! And thanks to everyone. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Not in love with the trailer but Charlie Kaufman wrote it so I will be there day one.
From what I’m seeing here, this actually looks amazing! I’ll never understand why this movie is being released straight to streaming.
Because it's an original idea, and original ideas make less money nowadays because studios and companies don't promote them well.
Possibly it's a bit too ambitious to release it in theaters unless there's enough support to release it in theaters
you make it sound like thats a bad thing
@@antoniomalavoltaandrade2637that’s sadly most likely the case (though to be fair, it isn’t ORIGINAL original, it’s a book adaptation)
@@Mkmichael001 unless there's enough support on the film to get a theater release
Remember everyone: this is the same writer from Synecdoche New York, Anomalisa, and i’m thinking of ending things. Haven’t watched the other two, but I liked the last one. With that said, I’m extremely curious how will Charlie Kaufmann handle this.
You're not going to bring up Eternal Sunshine or Being John Malkovich, two of his greatest pieces of work?
@@kotterpike714yes, them too, but I haven’t watched them as well.
Seeing the words “heartfelt” and “whimsical” is kinda weird when put next to Charlie Kaufmann’s name.
@@AlbertusSalvatierraIdk… I think his films are whimsical and heartfelt. Just in a particularly twisted kinda way.
@@snowhunter7536 Oh man, you're in for a treat.
“Hello darkness my old friend”
what a boring character, my God it's impossible to finish watching this. I really like animation but this is by far the worst I've ever tried to watch...
They better (at the very least) do a limited run in cinemas for this, Adaptation is one of my favorite films of all time, and I am beyond curious to see how Kaufman tackles a children’s movie!
I don't about where you stay but here I've seen that movies go in cinema even though they had no theathrical release in us, things like the Pinocchio remake 🤮🤮🤮and Turning Red that was really popular and stayed for weeks
The fact that it was directed by Sean charmatz who worked with SpongeBob and written by Charlie Kaufman is insane
This movie is 10/10
It's an adaptation of a book, not a movie.... LITERALLY called 'Orion and the Dark'
I was expecting more of a godly deep voice for Dark, but I can see potential in this.
He's meant to be comical and friendly, so, giving him a cuddly voice is more fitting for his personality.
@@SevenEllen bc his actor Paul Walter Hauser also plays Embarrassment in Inside Out 2.
Charlie Kaufman is the reason I'm excited for this film
Yeah, the trailer looks kinda boring really. But Charlie has the chops..
I always love seeing Jacob Tremblay films, he's got so many high profile films, half of them other voice acting roles
Honestly I could see him as Link for the upcoming live action Zelda movie especially if they want someone young enough to continue playing the role.
@@zillauniverse7208 woah! Never thought of that, he'd work more for young Link if anything
I watched Luca and My Father's Dragon; great movies, great roles that Jake has played. Honestly, I expected his voice in this movie to sound a bit different. But no; it's as if he recorded his lines for this movie years early on in production, simultaneously doing so with Luca and My Father's Dragon, which is why it's so similar.
@@mrflipperinvader7922 IMDb said it's rumored he'll play Link on an in development The Legend of Zelda, just not sure if it's voice or live action
@@oldchannel_MoM I don't see that rumor anymore
I really hope Light isn't 100% the bad guy. Super tired of seeing stories like "What if light/things traditionally seen as good are BAD???" with really nothing more than that thought. If they treat it more like the Pixar short night/day that would be better. They both have their pros and cons. I see why Darkness would feel inferior that makes sense for his character arc & would mirror well with the kid, Orion. If he learned to overcome that and to appreciate himself and what light has that would be a better character arc. Here's to hoping though, it's just a trailer.
Sounds like somebody hasn't read the book that this movie's based on yet since Light's probably in it lol.
It's written by Charlie Kaufman, it'll be interesting trust me
Tbh I miss villains, I've had enough generational trauma and stuff
@@bdariamihaela Ok tradition elitist lol.
@paramountnickelodeonenjoyer02 Whether it's an adaption or not is irrelevant, they can change things as they see fit. (EX. The how to train your dragon series. It's technically an adaption but besides the premise it's very much it's own story) I'm only making assumptions on the trailer, I'll give it a chance first. However, if they go that route, I think it'll hurt the overall story. I hope I'm wrong
I like the direction they're going with this I can see light as a sort of antagonist as something that shields you from your fears but doesn't help you overcome them
Yes, I was thinking about that too. It would be great if that happened! It'll actually add more character development to the story and make it really interesting.
I HOPE they do that.
It goes well beyond that simple interpretation. Light is an entity enslaved to balance and ultimately encapsulates everything in it which is just too much. The Dark is where there is quiet, the brilliance of light, poetry. It's like sadness from Inside Out - it's how you feel heartbreak with true depth of feeling that makes you alive. And it's touching that, in the end, Dark has to emerge from the memories of Orion who very much made it a point to remember it.
@@imfa-cinema257 well thank you, I like that idea
Am I the only adult here?
I'm afraid so
This wasn't on my radar but I've been watching Charlie Kaufman movies for almost 25 years so I'll give this a shot.

To be honest, I relate to Orion since I'm afraid of some things too. Idk if this movie can change my mind, but imma give it a watch.

YES!!! A trailer and release date! I’m hyped for this movie alongside KFP4! DreamWorks still nailing it in the book adaptation genre!🌟

I'd be careful watching this show with your kids ❤ if you do I would skip all parts that involve the entity "sleep". Lots of inappropriate script and scenes that I can only chalk up to possibly "adult humor".
@noelleziegler4807 not true.
Good Concept & Good Message but I had a lot of expectations from this movie but it did not live up to my expectations, when Orion said that this is just a story which he is making himself then everyone seemed to lose interest, after that his daughter or grand son came..Then movie looks fake...it's a good time pass for kids
I like animation but what you're doing with 'the light character' it's a no for me. You guys wanna teach kids to hate light or??? I thought this movie is about helping kids overcome thier fear of darkness but making the light an enemy is not good coz the Bible teaches this kids, that light is good. Well I guess, it is indeed the end of world where good things are called bad and bad things are called good.
its sacrilegious to put httyd title in the beginning

I watched it a couple of weeks ago with my dad, while the animation is very pretty and the idea is good, the storyline was super hectic and me and dad where both like "Wtf" at so many parts in the movie bc they just don't make sense 😭
it's a bedtime story, they just came up with concepts
I "WOULD" Love To See That "NEW" Awesome "NETFLIX" Cartoon Movie So Bad ! 😃👍
THIS NEEDS TO BE SEEN ON THE BIG SCREEN! IT NEEDS TO BE IN THEATERS AH!
I see a lot of resemblance with the rise of the guardians with this movie
Hope its an inspiration.
Technically it's based on the book with the same name which I planned on reading soon before I see the movie but true.
I do mental health counseling and I think this film has a lot of potential as a therapy resource! Excited to see how things are approached with these ideas of ERP (exposure response therapy).
How so while teaching our kids it’s ok to smother people with pillows or knocking people out with chlorophyll and or the part where that baby was getting knocked out with a hammer? If you truly believe that’s suitable for children your the problem with society.
I'm actually looking forward to seeing this movie because it looks absolutely amazing
The ending ruined the whole movie tbh
Yeah don’t know what they were thinking with the alternate path
you should not teach kids to be comfortable in the dark there still can be danger in there. i promise
danger like what? can't sleep when the lights are off?
This is a really creative and cute premise. nice to see something original for a change.
It’s based on a book so not exactly “original”
THE VOICE ACTING IS AMAZING HOLY THIS IS AWSOME
thought the opposite.
Can’t believe that Orion is played by the same actor as Luca. Did he go through puberty? I noticed his voice sounds different.
Yes, yes he did.
Not exactly the target audience for this but even I have to admit it looks kinda boss

whoa Jacob Tremblay sounds different here compared to Luca and My Father's Dragon 👀 it's nice to hear a teenager voicing a teenager haha
but the movie looks beautiful, hopefully it gets treated better than Ruby Gillman (it seems to be from this trailer at least)
Hey dude check the rotten Tomatoes and the box office of ruby Gilman teenage kraken it’s just been update around 6 weeks according to bully McGuire studios
Jacob Tremblay is now 17 so his voice has gotten deeper since he voiced Luca. You should hear his voice acting in Atom Eve Special of Amazon Prime Video’s Invincible series.
I might be hearing things because I swear I heard Will Arnett.
Just remember ... this is Directed by CHARLIE KAUFMAN.
His films include Synecdoche, New York and I'm Thinking of Ending Things.
His characters are often depressed, suicidal, and existentially confused.
Chances are Orion in this film is also dealing with existential fear and depression which is both metaphorically embodied by (or treated by) the Dark.
Something tells me it will be an intellectually satisfying existential thinkpiece for Kids similar to films like Coco and Inside Out but even more mature and honest.
Charlie Kaufman doesn't write trash nor does he sell out. His films are the highest cinematic art.
Technically it’s directed by Sean charmats but it’s written by Charlie Kaufman also I might have seen this book in the library before
From the trailer, it looks different than Charlie Kaufman’s script. CKs script is much better.
@@sometastudios Then Kaufman would have exited earlier without having a writer's credit. That's who he is - truthful - I guarantee his script is preserved and the film is FAR deeper than the marketing would make one expect. Mark my words.
@@imfa-cinema257a lot of the dialogue is different. The premise seems different. The age and tone of the main character is different. I too am interested to check it out. But I’ve read his script at least 5 times. It’s that good.

I DUNNO WHY BUT IM SOO HYPED UP ABOUT THIS MOVIE
Orion And The Dark is like Rise Of The Guardians!
Dark seems like a nicer version of Grunkle Stan and I'm totally here for it

Why not in theaters because it's a dreamworks
1. A bit too complex to market for theatres.
2. Netflix has that content deal with DreamWorks.
Because itll just flop in theatres just like every other animated movies this year, ( PS. Spiderverse and Mario doesn't count cuz their franchise films )

I’m so excited a new dreamworks movie on Netflix 😊
As someone who's dealt with anxiety, panic attacks, etc from a young age due to childhood traumas I'm so happy this is out to help children dealing with these issues. I'm 44 and when I was young there was still a stigma to having mental health issues, I had family members who weren't always understanding of what I was going through so it makes me happy that children coming up now will have it easier as far as people being understanding, supportive and encouraging.
Anybody here because they are interested in Charlie Kauffman doing a kid's movie?
What if toys had feelings? What if food had feelings? What if feelings had feelings? And now... What if darkness had feelings?
It was pretty bad, not good storytelling and the characters weren't very attractive or interesting. Nobody at home liked it, we turned it off maybe half way through and someone had already left the room by then. Sorry, we didn't enjoy it.
You should finish it. It's start so generic, but that's a trick from the writers. The end of the movie is actually pretty nice. Now I'm don't guarantee that you'll change your mind at the end, but it was worth it for me.
My favorite part was when the dark said "i am darkness, i am the night, i am Black-Man!"
i watched this movie and i love it ;]
I think this is going to be a great movie.

No WAY this was written by Charlie Kaufman, what?
I Love Every DreamWorks Movie That Has Come Out!
I'm a huge cry-er so of course I cried by the end but it's kind of strange when the dad said he was making it up. But, I really liked the whole metaphor on climate change and how it tied to Orion's mental health. I guess that weird line and the comically "woke" girl was an effort to appeal to older audiences... Or maybe trying to like pull out of the fantasy and into the real message. Overall I think it's a really brave effort, and I personally liked it.
I'm so confused with all these other comments. How are people missing the message?
I love this movie idea. The dark being a good guy and the light being a bad guy? Now that’s irony. That’s what makes the movie more exciting!!! I’m sure in the end Orion will not be afraid of the dark anymore, he and dark will become best friends and he will enjoy life. That’s my prediction anyway.
