Yeah IKR. I picked fruit cave once and was regretting it the whole time because it would only ever give me salmonberries and peaches. I still had to save up for an apple and pomegranate and orange trees after giving up hope. Ended up being way slower than my mushroom cave runs.
I feel like the Joja route was made so easy on purpose, but at the same time it was designed to be incredibly unappealing, so the player would put the work into the community center and be able to, well, play the game more. The community center rewards you for hard work and care, while Joja rewards you just for having money.

Ironically, our current issues (at least here in USA) is oligarchy. I do the community centre for a few reasons, like the fact that our character moved to Stardew Valley to get away from their job at Joja, and the fact that Joja greatly resembles Amazon, and the fact that I love the junimos, and the fact that the first time I played I didn’t even know that you could do that. I might not like Pierre, but the community centre brings the whole town together and that makes me happy
Honestly 140k isnt even grinding, its really passive for me, so Id much rather have the confort of Joja to the stress of trying to get every item in year 1

So since the only item gated behind year 2 is the god damn Red Cabbage, you need to wait 2 seasons for 1 fucking item. For me that is way too painful. So. I need to religiously check the wandering trader, and hope to god that she will have the cabbage before or during summer, or that I finish the greenhouse really quickly. And since

It turns into a cinema too tho? It goes through the same process in a way as joja when you complete the community centre. Abandoned then turned to a cinema
listen i hate pierre as much as the next guy, but jojacorp is a soulless company and pierre has no competition in selling seeds or fertilizers in the town so imo hes already a monopoly 💀💀 if he ever wanted to do smithing, fishing, carpentry, and farm/animal work to put everyone else out of business (which.... only the farmer buys from everyone else, like haley isnt gonna be upgrading tools or buying hay so theres no point) id have a problem with it, but i dont see it ever happening from 1. he probably straight up cant do it, and 2. he'll think its too difficult/wouldnt like it and give up

I love the community center because it gives me goals to reach and rewards to earn. Also I like walking around with the Junimo following me, it's very cute.
I did Joja corp first because I thought it was so easy compared to the community centre so I went with that on my first run. Then I found out there were little apple fellas in the CC. I’ve been a big CC fan since.
I was able to finish the community center about halfway into year 2 I probably could’ve finished it in your one if I were a little better with managing my time with the first spring
Spring year 2 in a co-op game. Because we didn't get apples out of the fruit bat cave that's literally it. We had to grow a tree I the greenhouse just for that.
Yeah finishing the community center bundles in 1 year is 100% possible, you just need game knowledge and a bit of luck for proper weather and traveling merchant drops.
I don't really care about completing it on year one, getting grandpa's statue on the first visit is where its at for me and I'm this close🤏 ti getting my hands on that perfection statue
@@Morrigan855 yes. There's a secret bundle in the old Joja supermarket when the CC's done, and when you do the secret bundle, you'll get a movie theatre (or cinema) as a reward. (Joja > cinema) The Joja way is: you pay for everything, the CC becomes a Joja storage, but it becomes a cinema after you pay for it. (CC > cinema)
The fishing bundles we’re hell for me it took me two full years alone to get through it. I kept getting stuck because of the confusing rules to where and when you can catch certain fish. I got stuck for a full year because I didn’t know you could only catch walleye in fall, past 12pm, in fresh water and while it’s raining. It was worth it seeing morris get what he deserved.
One of the recent updates added the quest board to the south of the Mayor's house. There's a quest for Pam, and a reward she gives you is access to a fishing TV channel which lists when, where and what weather you can catch fish during your current season. It's all info that can be found in the wiki, but it's nice that it's in game now as a reward.
The Community Center allows you to get items before you would be allowed to get them, such as Crab Pots before Fishing Level 3 which beats out Joja Mart (On the save that me and my mom play on together, we completed a fish tank bundle and got three crab pots before either of us had Level 3 Fishing) + Junimos
The effort and time is the thing I like about the community centre its challenging in a good way if I feel stuck I try to get the things the community centre needs or I can also see it as a goal

I just wish that there were more exclusive long term rewards for both paths. Like exclusive rewards you can only get if you pick one path over the other. Like when you complete ether task you could get some final big task or reward that is exclusive to each path. Maybe Joja could give you some exclusive advanced machinery for making higher quality items or it makes them faster. Like upgrades to jars and kegs and stuff like that. A better furnace that only needs three ore inside of five. The point of Joja would be that it makes the town sad but it makes you more money faster and easier. As for the CC, it could maybe unlock special fertilizer for your crops that could ether have the effects of the other fertilizer combined. (Water retention, high quality, fast growth) or maybe the special fertilizer could make it so crops can grow in any season except winter. If you make these rewards hard enough to get (third year at the earliest) then it shouldn’t be too unbalanced or extreme and it would give the choice between Joja and the CC more impactful because there are genuinely useful and unique items from each path that actually have a big impact on the gameplay loop. Picking one path means that some items might never be obtainable for that save file. (Or maybe there could be a way to obtain them but it would either be 5x harder than the auto petter or would cost millions of gold)

I like doing the Joja membership, but doing a few community center bundles first. I do spring forage and spring crops, all the boiler room bundles, and all the vault bundles. It only costs 2500g more to unlock the bus through the community center, but you get 30 quality fertilizer, a lightning rod, and a crystalarium as rewards, which I think are worth 2500g, since I probably wouldn’t be able to build a crystalarium yet at that point in the game. Then, I do the rest of the repairs through Joja, usually starting with the greenhouse.
My sister just did a Joja route, because she HATES petting all the animals, but wanted to try the Rancher perks, so she bought the auto-petters from Joja. It has its pros, for sure. And yet, I find it really hard to give up on those community center rewards.
I’m doing my first ever Joja run since playing SDV 1.3 I think (or maybe I started with 1.4). Mostly been fishing, mining, trying to romance Abigail and get as much money as possible. I also have a multiplayer with some friends where we’ve almost completed the community center and I gotta say, maybe it’s just because I’m doing it with my friends but the community center is a lot more fun.
I chose Joja because in stardew I REALLY take my time and I will focus on one thing or try to and for the first year I tried to marry Sebastian the whole time, I love that little emo boy
You're like me. But I did choose the community center over Joja. But I feel like I'm doing a speedrun of marrying Sebastian. I really need him to be my partner. (I'm going for year one, fall day 6 I think and I already have 6/7 hearts with Sebastian lol)
It’s not really hard to keep track of bundles. There’s a button in your inventory screen that lets you check the bundles needed at any time, as long as you’ve unlocked the bundles first, of course. This also goes for the abandoned Joja Mart bundle.
I went with the Joja route because I like having an extra store for Wednesdays. Also, the junimos already have housing at my farm where they work as slaves.
I understand why it's that way for story reasons, but I'd simply prefer to be able to complete the community center and have Joja Mart to shop in. It simply feels more realistic to have both as an option, rather then one or the other. I've never done the Joja route, simply because I don't want to lose the community center.
I literally cried when the last junimo left, i wish you could go to the wizard and have the junimos move in with you, and help with most tasks, you could send them to pick up foragables around your farm, pet your animals, and you could send them on little missions to get things, like seeds, crops, artifacts, and other things, but you would need to have every junimo plush in the game, the small green, light blue, pink, and yellow junimos from the claw machine in the theater, and some junimo statues, and a big green junimo plush from the playground bush on the last day of the season at noon, place them in the right arrangement and a portal opens and junimos come out.
well, after the last junimo parts away you can have little "houses" with 3 of them on each one. In the wizard's tower you can have many of those by the price of lawn and 9 starfruits. the junimos will help you recolect your fruits and vegies, but sadly that's all they can do
There's an option for year 1 all bundles complete, so me and my brother hopped on to try and do it all before year 1 passed. Early winter we'd beaten it!
I’ve yet to complete either, but I really enjoy the bundle aspect of the community center. I just like that it forces you to engage with all sorts of aspects of the game and is good for learning more of it all

I always recommend doing CC your first playthrough then whichever you prefer on subsequent playthroughs. It's good for learning and figuring out which part of the game you enjoy most, but I like to rush to the fun money making part so joja for me
And you can do CC up to whatever point you like, then do Joja. Like if you wanted a reward from CC, do up to that point then unlock Joja. The crystalarium for example. Do the bare minimum for a crystalarium, then unlock Joja.
You can still do the community quest to get the rewards and since in your 1st yr money is tight, you can complete the greenhouse first and get the rewards you want. Then apply for joja membership after. So don't have to pay for the bundles you've completed.
I’d argue Joja is the best for the valley because it provides jobs and economic opportunities to the community, several people work there and without Joja they can’t pay their bills

Yeah sure, Morris taunts Pierre and steals his customers but Pierre would do the same thing. I've always done the community center route because I like all the rewards and helping the junimos, but with my current playthrough I decided to go with jojacorp and it's super satisfying having the greenhouse built before reaching the end of the first spring.
You another thing with the community center is that after everything is done, it just became decoration. The purpose is done and nothing else to do, wish they update their schedule and come and go to that place and maybe add some new characters who knows.
I prefer the Community center route, but it can actually be finished in under a year with a little bit of knowledge and luck! Tips: ALWAYS visit the traveling trader near the wizard tower on Fridays and Sundays. She's often selling items you need for the community center, even rarer later game items like the cabbage and truffles! Also, if you're not sure if an item belongs in the community center, the tablet icon next to your screen will pulsate when you hover over an item in your inventory you need. Both routes are completely valid and honestly quickly completeable if you're willing to hoard and plan. My latest playthrough of the community center was finished the first week of year two, if I had been a little faster with getting rabbits I could've ended before that!
I’m currently doing the community center and I couldn’t be happier. Since it’s such a cozy game I’ve been having fun and relaxing getting everything needed for the bundles, just taking the slow motion for the game 😊

Depends on how you're playing the game. If you're playing it slow and enjoying the casual pace, then the Community Center is the only reasonable choice since it is something you get to work towards.
the thing with the community center is it's probably the best way to have the player experience every different area of the game: animals, foraging, farming, mining, fishing, and even random things that just let you explore and experience everything the game has to offer while still having some guidance so you dont get too lost

I did Joja corp first because I thought it was so easy compared to the community centre so I went with that on my first run. Then I found out there were little apple fellas in the CC. I’ve been a big CC fan since.

Spring year 2 in a co-op game. Because we didn't get apples out of the fruit bat cave that's literally it. We had to grow a tree I the greenhouse just for that.
Yeah finishing the community center bundles in 1 year is 100% possible, you just need game knowledge and a bit of luck for proper weather and traveling merchant drops.

@@Morrigan855 yes. There's a secret bundle in the old Joja supermarket when the CC's done, and when you do the secret bundle, you'll get a movie theatre (or cinema) as a reward. (Joja > cinema)
The Joja way is: you pay for everything, the CC becomes a Joja storage, but it becomes a cinema after you pay for it. (CC > cinema)

The fishing bundles we’re hell for me it took me two full years alone to get through it. I kept getting stuck because of the confusing rules to where and when you can catch certain fish. I got stuck for a full year because I didn’t know you could only catch walleye in fall, past 12pm, in fresh water and while it’s raining. It was worth it seeing morris get what he deserved.
Yeah, I hate fishing just because I suck at it, but the community center feels way more rewarding to finish.
One of the recent updates added the quest board to the south of the Mayor's house. There's a quest for Pam, and a reward she gives you is access to a fishing TV channel which lists when, where and what weather you can catch fish during your current season.
It's all info that can be found in the wiki, but it's nice that it's in game now as a reward.
Fishing has always been the easiest for me. I find mining harder.
You forgot the cinema location. If you choose Joja route, CC latter is turned to Cinema, which much closer and harder to forget about.

The Community Center allows you to get items before you would be allowed to get them, such as Crab Pots before Fishing Level 3 which beats out Joja Mart (On the save that me and my mom play on together, we completed a fish tank bundle and got three crab pots before either of us had Level 3 Fishing) + Junimos
The effort and time is the thing I like about the community centre its challenging in a good way if I feel stuck I try to get the things the community centre needs or I can also see it as a goal

I just wish that there were more exclusive long term rewards for both paths. Like exclusive rewards you can only get if you pick one path over the other. Like when you complete ether task you could get some final big task or reward that is exclusive to each path.
Maybe Joja could give you some exclusive advanced machinery for making higher quality items or it makes them faster. Like upgrades to jars and kegs and stuff like that. A better furnace that only needs three ore inside of five.
The point of Joja would be that it makes the town sad but it makes you more money faster and easier.
As for the CC, it could maybe unlock special fertilizer for your crops that could ether have the effects of the other fertilizer combined. (Water retention, high quality, fast growth) or maybe the special fertilizer could make it so crops can grow in any season except winter. If you make these rewards hard enough to get (third year at the earliest) then it shouldn’t be too unbalanced or extreme and it would give the choice between Joja and the CC more impactful because there are genuinely useful and unique items from each path that actually have a big impact on the gameplay loop. Picking one path means that some items might never be obtainable for that save file. (Or maybe there could be a way to obtain them but it would either be 5x harder than the auto petter or would cost millions of gold)

I like doing the Joja membership, but doing a few community center bundles first. I do spring forage and spring crops, all the boiler room bundles, and all the vault bundles. It only costs 2500g more to unlock the bus through the community center, but you get 30 quality fertilizer, a lightning rod, and a crystalarium as rewards, which I think are worth 2500g, since I probably wouldn’t be able to build a crystalarium yet at that point in the game. Then, I do the rest of the repairs through Joja, usually starting with the greenhouse.
Oh I do that too! I also like to get the friendship hearts since I never speak to the villagers

My sister just did a Joja route, because she HATES petting all the animals, but wanted to try the Rancher perks, so she bought the auto-petters from Joja.
It has its pros, for sure.
And yet, I find it really hard to give up on those community center rewards.
That's why I like the Joja route. Petting animals everyday, all the time, just to get iridium quality goods consistently is so tedious.

I’m doing my first ever Joja run since playing SDV 1.3 I think (or maybe I started with 1.4). Mostly been fishing, mining, trying to romance Abigail and get as much money as possible. I also have a multiplayer with some friends where we’ve almost completed the community center and I gotta say, maybe it’s just because I’m doing it with my friends but the community center is a lot more fun.
I chose Joja because in stardew I REALLY take my time and I will focus on one thing or try to and for the first year I tried to marry Sebastian the whole time, I love that little emo boy

It’s not really hard to keep track of bundles. There’s a button in your inventory screen that lets you check the bundles needed at any time, as long as you’ve unlocked the bundles first, of course.
This also goes for the abandoned Joja Mart bundle.
I went with the Joja route because I like having an extra store for Wednesdays. Also, the junimos already have housing at my farm where they work as slaves.

I understand why it's that way for story reasons, but I'd simply prefer to be able to complete the community center and have Joja Mart to shop in. It simply feels more realistic to have both as an option, rather then one or the other. I've never done the Joja route, simply because I don't want to lose the community center.

I literally cried when the last junimo left, i wish you could go to the wizard and have the junimos move in with you, and help with most tasks, you could send them to pick up foragables around your farm, pet your animals, and you could send them on little missions to get things, like seeds, crops, artifacts, and other things, but you would need to have every junimo plush in the game, the small green, light blue, pink, and yellow junimos from the claw machine in the theater, and some junimo statues, and a big green junimo plush from the playground bush on the last day of the season at noon, place them in the right arrangement and a portal opens and junimos come out.
(The farm building you’re looking for is the Junimo Hut.)
well, after the last junimo parts away you can have little "houses" with 3 of them on each one. In the wizard's tower you can have many of those by the price of lawn and 9 starfruits. the junimos will help you recolect your fruits and vegies, but sadly that's all they can do

There's an option for year 1 all bundles complete, so me and my brother hopped on to try and do it all before year 1 passed. Early winter we'd beaten it!

I’ve yet to complete either, but I really enjoy the bundle aspect of the community center. I just like that it forces you to engage with all sorts of aspects of the game and is good for learning more of it all

I always recommend doing CC your first playthrough then whichever you prefer on subsequent playthroughs. It's good for learning and figuring out which part of the game you enjoy most, but I like to rush to the fun money making part so joja for me
Joja route is a morality test.
And you can do CC up to whatever point you like, then do Joja. Like if you wanted a reward from CC, do up to that point then unlock Joja. The crystalarium for example. Do the bare minimum for a crystalarium, then unlock Joja.
You can still do the community quest to get the rewards and since in your 1st yr money is tight, you can complete the greenhouse first and get the rewards you want. Then apply for joja membership after. So don't have to pay for the bundles you've completed.
I’d argue Joja is the best for the valley because it provides jobs and economic opportunities to the community, several people work there and without Joja they can’t pay their bills
I agree! And everyone acts like Morris is the bad guy when Pierre is equally as bad. Chooses money over his wife and child. Yeah sure, Morris taunts Pierre and steals his customers but Pierre would do the same thing. He also buys the farmer’s goods and claims he grew them himself. 😡 I’d rather go and buy the Joja membership. But I usually do that when I unlock the bus.
I've always done the community center route because I like all the rewards and helping the junimos, but with my current playthrough I decided to go with jojacorp and it's super satisfying having the greenhouse built before reaching the end of the first spring.

You another thing with the community center is that after everything is done, it just became decoration. The purpose is done and nothing else to do, wish they update their schedule and come and go to that place and maybe add some new characters who knows.
I prefer the Community center route, but it can actually be finished in under a year with a little bit of knowledge and luck! Tips: ALWAYS visit the traveling trader near the wizard tower on Fridays and Sundays. She's often selling items you need for the community center, even rarer later game items like the cabbage and truffles! Also, if you're not sure if an item belongs in the community center, the tablet icon next to your screen will pulsate when you hover over an item in your inventory you need. Both routes are completely valid and honestly quickly completeable if you're willing to hoard and plan. My latest playthrough of the community center was finished the first week of year two, if I had been a little faster with getting rabbits I could've ended before that!
I didn’t know how to get the knowledge of the junimos so I just went to joja, thought Morris was the only way to repair it and did joja route
I’m currently doing the community center and I couldn’t be happier. Since it’s such a cozy game I’ve been having fun and relaxing getting everything needed for the bundles, just taking the slow motion for the game 😊

The vault bundle giving me my first crystalarium is something I’m not going to forget soon since it let be make more of my mayo makers, and now I’m automating jades for staircases.
Depends on how you're playing the game. If you're playing it slow and enjoying the casual pace, then the Community Center is the only reasonable choice since it is something you get to work towards.

the thing with the community center is it's probably the best way to have the player experience every different area of the game: animals, foraging, farming, mining, fishing, and even random things that just let you explore and experience everything the game has to offer while still having some guidance so you dont get too lost
we dont talk about the purple mushroom it is keeping me and my valley from happiness
I think the biggest reward of the community center is the satisfaction from the old dingy building being renewed
I do the community center for the junimos and the junimos only. I love seeing them follow me when I complete a bundle and get home safely
Plot twist, almost complete the community center to get all the rewards and then flip, switch sides and buy your way with Joja
