Prepare for long downhill. It's possible cards are still severely 'overpriced' and they are retracing now. Interesting to see did we see all time high prices. Not sure about Pokemon. With MTG it's more possible scenario.
Yeah it’s going to be very interesting to see what happens … either extremely painful or a time to rejoice that people are giving up on this hobby. I’ll be here regardless. Would love a price cut on some grail cards 😎🙏🏼
Forget 20l8 let’s go back to 2003 lol I just wish I hadn’t given up on TCG in general. Man I was so into it and then just gave it up just to end right back up where I started. Funny how life works.
You hit it on the nail vintage card prices went back up I remember Charizard base set2 doing $40 moderately played now it's at $120+ Or near mint lugia neo before at $180 now at $250-300
I think they are great in the end of the price is right and the card itself appears clean that’s all that matters. But the card not the grade is the main thing. Thanks for watching 😎🙏🏼
I would say buy the "card" not the "grade". The numbers are super subjective. If you've been around cards long enough, a strong 7 versus a weak 7 is easy to spot. Trust your eye!
@@jmc_-im6sd my opinion that's true short term when trying to just stack a collection. But having a long term mindset of like 10-20 years. Getting the slabs now with those quality cards will only boost returns in the long run but also you have your collection protected.
e-series has the best artwork of all the early era sets in my opinion, very low pops as you say, and some of the last things I would sell from my collection. And when the pops are that low and collectors hold, scarcity increases and lack of buying opportunities only become less so. And I’m not seeing a lot of Aquapolis or Expedition or Skyridge box breaks to add to the pops! I also love and own my favorite modern arts that I pulled or bought cheap, but my rule of thumb is churn modern and buy scarcity of the arts and sets you like the most as those buying opportunities are not guaranteed to persist. Very high liquidity, too, as you say. Agree 100% with your thinking. It’s a no lose game if you buy what you really want most in your collection.
Great comment ! Pretty much sums things up ! Definitely don’t see those boxes often and when you do they are 30k+ pricing most people out of buying them. I’m some ways, maybe an aquapolis box is better than buying a crystal? I wonder how many crystals you can get per box? 😎🙏🏼
I came back to the hobby with pokemon 151 after many years. And now I'm thinking about completing some of the older sets I have from the EX era. I enjoy having binder collections, so psa 5 to 6 is good enough for me just to look at the arts.
Right sometimes it’s just about enjoying them and not having them be “perfect” but I do appreciate the fact that higher grades are more liquid. That’s something I’ve learned to accept. Great comment! I’m glad you’ve come back with 151! A lot of people have come back to the hobby with this set. It’s a fun set! Brutal but fun! 😎😂
@@orionsires It has been brutal, but fun indeed 😅 Gonna finish it up with singles and then eventually move over to the EX era sets if possible. I think complete sets are attractive even if they are in LP or Played condition.
Vintage has corrected for sure and might drop further. Pokémon botched this era badly enough it might keep people collecting older stuff. I think if SV era was truly a knock out vintage would fall even further because all the attention would be set on modern. 😎
I've been trying to snipe up some vintage as well. It is a falling market TBH, I think the future of vintage is a mystery, I just enjoy them myself and glad to add them to my collection.
I don’t think it’s a mystery I think it is common sense to buy the older cards while they are still semi easy to find. One day you won’t be able to find base set unlimited anymore believe it or not haha. That day will come. Modern is not going anywhere as far as I’m concerned it’s a big bubble. Another ten years and modern will shine. 😎🙏🏼
What do you think about thought that tcgs might have been all time highs overally and we won't see higher prices? Not sure about Pokemon but I consider this in other games like mtg pretty realistic scenario.
This could absolutely be the truth. But I fear at the same time people will sell into fear and lose cards they thought would go down in price when the reality with Pokémon to me, is that we will see 10-20% retraces but overall strong market long term. Right now is a good time to buy IMO. I’m looking to buy and already seeing some great deals. I believe the Pokémon market is strong though. MTG and Yugioh have it much rougher. I wouldn’t want to be in those markets personally. Too risky. Hope this helps !! 😎🙏🏼
I’m very happy with the ray no plans to give it up any time soon. Definitely the height of my collecting career! And a really cool story to go with it! 😎🙏🏼
The last portion of the video where you talked about the orders specifically in Denmark we were noted that if you ordered something it wouldnt be shipped without ALL of it being available. So if you ordered the ETB + UPC you would have to wait till the UPC is available. I think that might be the case for you aswell as they can't send half-completed orders?
Ahhhh ok that might apply to TCG stadium but should not apply to my GameStop order at all. I’m pretty bummed about the whole thing. I hope you’re right and everything works out! Thanks buddy 😎🙏🏼
@@orionsires No problem. I just remembered as I got my ETBs today - only opened one and it did not disappoint! I hope that it just turns out to be the case for you!
Right now I only collect vintage(unlim because I’m cheap lol). My issue with modern is, Japanese is so much nicer, but I hate the idea of collecting foreign cards lol. But I also hate buying an inferior product even if it’s cheaper. For vintage I feel like English and JP are both great and don’t feel bad about collecting English over JP, even in unlim. But I can’t lie, modern cards are gorgeous in their own right. Maybe I’ll just pickup the grails in Japanese like lugia and giratina v and collect everything else in English lol
But two years ago that was a solid deal to have made, thinking about leaving money on the table by not grading is always painful I wouldn’t be hard on yourself you sold for what it was worth at the time 😎
Personally I'm glad we moved away from 1st editions. I collect mainly for art, and while I like the rarest cards in a set, I really only like them for their art over the common cards. A 1st edition stamp does mean it is rarer, but it isn't rarer because it is harder to pull, it is rarer because the entire set with that stamp was printed less. Same cards though. Love e series cards and beyond though, still vintage and no pesky 1st editions - I can just collect the set as I wish without limiting it to the same cards but rarer. Basically right now I want some of those vintage cards, but they are more expensive than ultra modern which I can get right now for really cheap so it's hard for those of us with less money (especially if we just returned to the hobby and have very few cards).
Absolutely agree with alot of what you are saying. While I am bias towards 1st editions they are kind of ridiculously priced and I understand going after the e reader series because none of them have stamps. I would definitely say go after all the alt arts you love before those go up in price and come back to vintage. But right now vintage is experiencing some downward pressure so I think it’s great for people who were cautious about buying in the last year. Great comment hope to hear more from you! Collecting is a marathon. I have myself burnt out many times trying to “collect it all” too fast. I’ve been collecting now for almost 4 years total from very small purchases to some of the biggest ever and these things come with time. It would be insane to jump right in to cards I’m describing. It takes lots of knowledge and understanding of supply and demand to know what cards to hold and invest in. Thanks for the great well written comment! Love to see it ! 😎🙏🏼
The rant is about vintage as a whole not really about unlimited versus 1st edition. There’s no argument to be had there , the market for 1st edition is always going to be more liquid and stronger than unlimited. But unlimited is cost effective and a great way to have a near mint base set! I have no issues with those but I wanted to build a first edition master set and I couldn’t afford 9’s in the beginning so I started with 5’s 6’s and 7’s. I too actually would like base set unlimited and shadowless in 9’s but I have time to complete those goals. The 1st editions are drying up. Soon they won’t be available. Thanks for watching regardless and leaving a comment! 😎🙏🏼
@@orionsires I think so because it has the master ball set as well. English doesn’t have that. And the Japanese version has the booster box. I could be wrong tho but regardless both will definitely go up in price
