Yeah I know I may be a bit bias for that reason. Beautiful era - lovely cards. The gold star has never been replicated again by Pokémon co other than celebrations two cards. But when Pokémon brings the real gold star design back, it will be absolute mayhem!! 😎🙌🏻

Beautiful cards mate totally agree with picking up lower psa graded like a 5 or 6 if the price is right and the card looks nice Also I think if you are collecting cards like this you should definitely collect groups of them like you are e.g the legendary dogs if that makes sense I think it adds value to them and looks nicer together
Yeah I mean sometimes I get 9’s that aren’t that nice so I know it can be human error and that grading is very subjective. Plenty of great 5’s-8’s out there for much better price points. This is also what makes regrading stuff potentially lucrative. I am however using psa 9 populations as a benchmark for the topic. Thanks for the comment!😎
I felt the same way about amazing rares when I first got back into collecting. Theres just something about artwork that extends beyond the frame that just stands out within each generation. And they look great in real life, especially out of the sleeve and in natural sunlight. The cards have a crispness to them i cant explain, maybe amazing rares in 10 years could be similar to gold stars?

So on the topic of the shining cards I want those as well I just haven’t come across them and they haven’t been a top priority but this is the same reason I love the radiant cards because they are very reminiscent of the og shiny feel. The great thing is , being a long term collector means you have opportunities along the way!
Been working on collecting the 27 gold stars in PSA 8+ in Canada...definitely one of the most beautiful sets to collect Vintage wise🥰 also SUPER expensive lol

I’ve noticed only certain pokemon hold value in the Gold Star Realm. The Umbreon and Espeon are the highest valued followed by Rayquaza and Zard then Ray’s Siblings and the Ex Team Rocket Returns starters…otherwise the rest of the Gold stars have lost tremendous value. Also its worth noting that the first three I mentioned are very very low pop and extremely hard to come by especially in Japanese. It takes a lot of money to afford these bad boys even in decent conditions. As per Crystals…Zard, Lugia and Hooh are the heavy hitters in that era holding the most value. The rest of the crystals fluctuate in the market and can easily be obtained from the right seller.
Great comment I agree for the most part those big ones are definitely expensive but most of them can be found for 1k or less and with the pops being so low I find that a bit odd. I think the Groudon and kyogre are super undervalued. I also think the Pikachu despite being a higher pop card is insanely dope and undervalued around 2k. But the more I look for these cards the more I notice them being a bit more common. I think it’s important to remember some of the coolest cards of the ex series one that I vividly remember as a kid. I never had the gold stars so maybe I’m just nostalgic towards them. I found this comment very insightful and I’m sure others will read and gain some knowledge from it so thank you! You can get some of these cards in played or lightly played condition for dirt cheap if youre ok with that. I got a lightly played kyogre for 45$ last year
I got a LP Alakazam for 60 it’s going to get graded by psa Wednesday we’ll send it with some others. I know there are deals out there still. But it can be really hard sourcing one with a grade 9/10 or one that will get a grade that high. With the numbers dwindling of listings one has to decide if they want to upgrade later or just go for the 9 now before they get even pricier. I think kyogre especially is undervalued. 1200$ card that should be 1800$ all day. It’s crazy to me with these low pops how cheap these cards are in reality. Great comment 😎🙏🏼
I recently completed the entire English gold star collection - Umbreon and Espeon included :) absolute collectors goal for me personally. I finished the crystals and the 1st edition shinings previously. Most collectors agree that of the vintage chase cards - gold stars reign supreme. In terms of rarity and artwork of the generation, I don’t think they can be surpassed :) they’ve gone up in value consistently and I doubt that will change in the future. Great collection yourself dude

I just got my replacement suicune and am happy with it, waiting on replacement entei and Raikou now is a great time to grab the dogs before they shoot up in price
I personally don't like them and will not be looking to add any more of them to my collection. They might be rare and expensive, but I like collecting things that I have a connection to and not just because they are worth money or might shoot up in value in the future. I do agree with your point that they will most likely go up because the people who were kids when those cards were in shops are now finally making good money and have disposable income to drive the price up. If anything, the full art and secret rare cards from the B&W era are what gold star cards were 5 years ago, some of them have under 100 graded in 9 and 10 combined.
Hey man believe it or not I love having the “grails” but a Blaine’s charizard would probably put a bigger smile on my face. We’ve all got different tastes and in some ways I’ve betrayed my personal taste but I wanted to diversify a bit and go after cards that I may not be able to find later on. Blaines zard will still be available as the print was much higher. But I think a lot of people would agree with you that it’s just something that isn’t on their radar. I was more driven towards them as a completion task but there are a few that I absolutely love. Pikachu is one of them… I don’t think they are for everyone but worth mentioning at least once or twice on the channel before moving on to other sets, chases or topics. Great comment RB 😎

WOTC looks so good as a 94 baby myself, I have to agree, but the facts are that the gold stars regardless of how much we may like/dislike them, have shockingly low pop reports. Gold stars were not short printed so it’s wild to me that you only see a couple hundred or less of each card in circulation aside from the dogs which I still feel have lots of room to grow. Thanks for responding though! I am always willing to learn from others and am no expert.

I'm a big fan of obsidian flames, the full arts are some of my favorite by far, not going hard on it though because 151 though
