Critics: Joseph wasn't smart enough to write the Book of Mormon.
    Us: Yeah, we know that.
Thank you, I've been powering though your videos. Really enjoy the amount of research you've done.

I've had health problems for a while and it's been hard for me to make it to church this whole year. Not going to church makes it hard to keep the Sabbath Day holy. I recently found this channel and have been able to use its videos as a way to focus on holier things for the day. Thank you :)

It’s cool you still respond to comments! I’m a young adult Latter-Day Saint and I love these videos! In fact, I think I’m addicted to your videos lol! Currently reading Rough Stone Rolling, then I’m going to read A Case for The Book of Mormon. Your videos have been a great testimony builder and I really appreciate them!

Anyone listening to this gentleman, the Book ofMormon is,in fact, true. I prayed about these and many principles concerning the Church of Jesus Christ. The Spirit of God has manifested the book's truth and of the Church of Jesus Christ's truth. I was excommunicated for my own disobedience but have been treated fairly and cant deny it is true. If I were faced with threat of death, I would not deny it. I will return to it, God willing.

We have to engage in logical apologetics. Just because noone saw Joseph go to a library, doesn't mean he didn't go or ever read the books you mention, or hear about their contents. Also, the good anti- argument is that Joseph did bit not write or translate the BOM. Rather, he dictated from a manuscript. Anyone can read aloud from a book in 3 months. Another argument - plates existed. They just weren't what he puported them to be. That's Vogel's argument. It's ... okay I guess. Finally, few apologists address one of the main sources for the BOM, which are the numerous "New" Testament quotes - and stories - in the BOM. Of course, these critics ignore the fact the BOM was written circa 400 ad. But I've even had staunch defenders of the BOM balk at my opinion that Mormon could have had access to the NT.

Interesting. Some of these I'd never heard of. I was wondering if you would tackle the "Joseph Smith took a gun with him to Carthage jail and killed someone with it" claim. I've never heard this before and I actually lived in Carthage and Nauvoo. I've done a half-hearted search and haven't found anything myself.

Julia - I am not planning on doing a video on this topic, but I will refer you to a great article that will answer all your questions and then some! Before sharing the link, if you just want the brief answer - Joseph did have a gun, he injured 3, but did not kill anyone. Had he killed someone it would have been considered self-defense (being attacked by a mob of 200 in a confined space). The pistol he used, which had been given to him by friends to defend himself, is on display at the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City. Here is the link to the article:

There is a book "Witness to the Martyrdom" by John Taylor, who survived the event, as you know. Deseret Book publishes it. Having read it years ago, I recall that the four prisoners were respected by the jailers. I think the prisoners were actually given a loaded gun, the guards having been told that a mob would form and wanted to help the prisonets survive. And, Yes, they shot a man in the first wave of the mob. That man later died of his wounds.

Joseph definitely had a gun and shot someone. The church keeps it in the church history museum in salt lake. Did they die? Maybe, maybe not. I’ve heard it both ways.

If I may also comment, Joseph Smith was willing to lay down his life for the people of the church, people He considered his brothers and sisters. He was willing to lay down his life for the gospel of Christ, many times he gave himself up so that the saints could be spared (this is one of the reasons he went to Carthage) but part of this to him also meant giving his life in defence of his brothers, he promised that he would defend his brothers and sisters with his last breath and we apparently now know that the first man that made it up the stairs in the jail was met with a fist, Jospeh Smiths fist, and went rolling right down. Joseph would have defended his brothers even to the giving up of his life. This may have been one of the reasons he reluctantly (and yes it was reluctantly) took the pistol when it was offered as he had begged the men with him in jail to leave, but they refused to leave his side. Hope this helps a bit

Good presentation. And this is only a small fraction of extensive empirical conformation of the Book of Mormon. There is even more hard evidence (see FairMormon, Fairlds, Book of Mormon Central for some of the other evidence)..
