This is definitely in my top 5 favourite all time Aussie classics. H&C are a national treasure!!
Their best song. Beautifully crafted and pretty much perfect.
The bridge climax brings tingles all over.
such a beautiful track, such an underrated band....
Going out on a limb but probably my favourite Hunters track.
I couldn't pick one to save myself - just too many great songs.
It's my favourite
Too many great songs to choose. I also really like You Stole My Thunder
I’m with ya
Me too. My favourite.
Great Band... loved them... reminds me of the early 1990s....
Such an amazing song, even after all these years it still rocks! Love the Hunters...
I'm guessing it's Mark Seymour who wrote this .
How it's structured and composed is pure masterpiece ❤
Wish I could have seen these guys live...great band.
They are playing the Red Hot Summer tour 2020....see them while you can...
I was lucky enough to see them back in 80's @ Nambucca Heads & it was unreal. :-)
Omg, heard this song again for the first time in 25 years. What a gem. H&C came into their own with Ghost Nation and Cut. Classic Aussie music.
Love this song. Awesome live!
LOVE the Hunters & Collectors... one of my favourites...
Never reslly listened to the lyrics of hunters and collectors till now. My loss they are the greatest
Love the hunters.back when music was real.
H&C are one of the best bands Australia has ever produced
When success is on your mind
But true direction is missing
You know the Gods have lied - but you're still smitten.
By the stars in your eyes
I can tell you know where you are
Smile sweetly and you'll be forgiven.
You're almost free - almost free to come and go
Bed sitting room for ambitious prisoner.
Walk away, don't take no for an answer
Turn a blind eye to it all
Let sleeping dogs lie
Down in Queensway.
Like a bulldozer chasing butterflies
Down sad English streets you wander
Over sleeping bodies you step lightly.
All the snow on the ground
- lets you pass by without a sound
One last look before you disappear.
Walk away, don't take no for an answer
Turn a blind eye to it all
Let sleeping dogs lie
Down in Queensway.
Excellent. :-)
I think you'll find it's "ambition's prisoner", not ambitious.
@@annaforehan7784Ambitious prisoner is correct, not ambitions prisoner
@@alexk7467 Wrong. It's most definitely "ambition's " prisoner (note the apostrophe, which makes a major difference), meaning the person is a prisoner of his/her ambition. If you understand what the song's about, it makes perfect sense. "Ambitious prisoner" makes no sense whatsoever. Furthermore, I live in Melbourne and have known members of the band for decades, so I have this knowledge first hand.
@@annaforehan7784 Whatever... So what if you know members of the band, if you're friends with Mark ask him what it is. When you look at the lyrics that are included in the album (I can show you a picture of them to prove it if you like) it clearly shows that the correct lyrics are "ambitious prisoner"
I heard this song played in Coles on the weekend. I had a music-gasm in isle 4.
SeveralPens don't forget about "where do you go" : I heard that in Woolworths tonight and here I am
SeveralPens clean up on aisle 4!
@@MrFrendan heardit today outside Crown Cassini missed my team to hear the end music genius
I also heard in Coles and felt like telling the noisy lady in the ilse to shoosh 😄
Heard it today lol
Saw them only once, 1987. Never forget it. Have listened to them every since.
Heard it first driving past St. Kilda Town Hall - still see those tall white walls every time I hear it...
hi
Thanks for putting this clip up on youtube. I have added it to my playlist.
Last Sydney gigs ever this weekend (4th & 5th April) at the Enmore Theatre, Newtown, Sydney. Cannot wait!!!
Barossa Boy yer had some great bands there 👌
This band is amazing
Love the instrumental and solo from 2:25 to 3:23
Saw them at Selinas Coogee Bay and other places in Sydney mid 80s great live aussie band still got all the records
Love this song - great band
Best song man
my favourite from a vastly underrated band
Just Brilliant
loved them when they played newcastle entertainment centre.
Never been more words more truer to what’s going on today
heard this on the bus this evening
reminds me of my mum
I love playing this on my guitar
It's Guy Pearce!
The best thing to come out of Melbourne since the Bloods.
very similar riff to one thing leads to another by the fixx
+pudzta I do hear it a little. The rhythm is pretty similar and I think the first two chords out of the four. But not similar enough to say they stole it.
Classic
Does anyone know what this song is about?
It's very beautiful!
The song is about the 'driven' , ambitious people who chose to ignore the suffering that surrounds to them. They turn 'a blidn eye'.

Something to do with staggering down Queens Rd Melbourne (Queensway) at 6am on a Sunday morning......maybe?! 😜
@@nickhoare6616 - thanks always wondered where queensway was
@@silversuit66 given the liner notes by Mark Seymour and the reference to Earls Court, they are talking about Queensway in London
Blind Eye. Stale croissants, strawberry jelly, weak tea, diesel exhaust, cold feet, illegal aliens, Gary Glitter’s sky blue g-string, silk cuts and warm lager, New Musical Express, Thatcher, Kajagoogoo, blue pyramids, the union jack, the British sneer, man wanted, ex-west end theatre lady with a gammy knee, Brick Lane, skins, race riots, nuclear chaos, the clogged sink in Earls Court, stank like rotten fry, cheating the underground, celibacy, delusions of grandeur…
@@nickhoare6616 No, it's Queensway in London.
Horns of contempt..... Enough said.
Aah, Hunters and Collectors - a shared love of which led to the illicit affair between Rebecca Robinson and Michael Williams...
Shhhh.
@munrubenmario Why not just make 10 a little bit louder and have 10 be the loudest.
If Aussie Crawl were a Sydney centric band, Hunters responded in kind for Melbourne.
Anthony Iwanowski sadly I live in the shit hole known as Tassie
Where we represent nothing
I think Hunters and Collectors are from Brisbane.
Aussie crawl were from Melbourne too, icehouse is the sydney equivalent
Aussie Crawl were Victorian.
@@gaebren9021 They're definitely from Melbourne. I first saw them in 1981 when they were just starting out.
um IMHO they were THE best. Seymour is a rare talent, just annoying we Kiwis can;t get to see him more than once every ten years (are you listening Mr Seymour???)
