WOW - you guys have been super busy! I love seeing Simeon’s ideas and dreams coming to fruition - now I understand why you moved to Austria. The years that you spent in Sweden were a stepping stone to the farmstead/school that you’re building now. Thank you for sharing and blessings on your family and Renee!

Alex, I agree. If we're going to have snow, I'd rather it be cold so the snow stays, rather than be above freezing where the snow melts and makes a mushy mess!

THAT is a beautiful chicken tractor!! 👍
I knew the deep bedding for chickens, but I discover it for sheeps, cattle and pigs! Thats a wonderful and finally very logical sytem wich gives warmth to the animals when it's frozen cold outside, and good composted manure for the spring garden! Why on earth do we believe we need chemicals? Just use the nature in the right way...

I rejoice with you that you have the beginnings of a great homestead that will not only provide nutritious and delicious food for your family but that also for the community. How He has blessed you to be able to implement and put in place all you need to do to make it all work. And through it all, He has kept you healthy. Blessing and success for all of you.

So exciting to see it all coming together so well......... Great to be able to watch the progress of a REAL homestead with really useful and potentially profitable plans developing, rather than the many 'soap operas' pretending to be homestead in the USA which couldn't survive for a year without the income generated from their YT sponsorships etc.... I don't begrudge them their YT income, but all we ever get are soap operas and very little true content and even fewer practical ideas we can apply to our homesteads. So keep up the great content you give us, which we can then apply ourselves.

I saw an egg-mobile like this (I’m in Alberta Canada). In -20 Celsius winter, they lined the floor with old billboard tarp and did the deep bedding method. What was ultra clever - they added a winch and roller to the back of the egg-mobile and then once the weather warmed up, they drove along slowly in the field they wanted to fertilize and someone walked along beside turning the winch. Slowly the bedding dropped out of the egg mobile onto the field. It was very cool and is on RUclips somewhere.

Nice comparison with our Oregon weather and how snow often is here in the valley. It’s so different from places like Austria where the temperature stays low and the snow stays for longer. I avoid going out when we get snow because it so quickly becomes icy and slippery as the weather goes up and down around freezing.
