    Johnny, I’ve been watching your content from the Fifth Gear days. Your RUclips channel is even more entertaining, and most importantly, educational. You have a really cool way of bringing in facts and figures, but in a manner that people can relate to.
    I also want to make mention of your interviews, for example with Chris Harris, and Mate Rimac. Do that more often! Get F1 drivers in, speak to people who are developing new technologies that will power our future.
    All the best, I’ll keep watching if you keep making.

      Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the content and comment AK J. This channel allows me to finally combine the breadth of cars I am interested in - EV to V8 - and explore them more thoroughly. I hope this approach broadens people's appreciation for EVs in the real world, but also reminds them that piston stuff still has a place, and that classic/retro cars will only rise in interest.

      @@TheLateBrakeShow for sure. I’m keeping a keen eye on EVs, but here in South Africa the electric car infrastructure is just not mature enough. Also, the cars that are here seem to have a 30% to 40% increase in price compared to the UK if you do a direct conversion.

      It does, honestly when it comes to electric plans BMW is one of the more baffling car makers. They started the iProject, got a few models out the door and then cut the project in its entirety. The i8 is a massively underpowered hybrid, the i3 never had the confidence of marketing to push it more and they just sort of stopped till two years ago...
      BMW as been trying to revive the project ever since if only because soon their will not be much of a choice.
      Better than Chevy's MAD scramble to get into the market with the Stellantis merger but it is up their.

    It's good to hear that the driving dynamics remain BMW, however the conformist approach of attracting the masses is not the way that BMW lead the market for many years. A revolutionary product such as the "bespoke" i3 & i8 models had key elements of sustainability, dynamic driving response & challenged the status quo. It's just a bit beige, when it should be bright orange!

    I have probably a controversial opinion, but I like this car and actually consider buying it. I just visited event, where I sat in Ionic5, EV6, Enyaq, ID4, Mach-e and I have to say that iX3 provided to me the most comfort sitting inside in front and in back. Most of other cars I didn’t fit comfortably with my head on backseats (I am 187cm) or front seats are too low so you cannot squeeze your legs underneath from back.
    + infotainment is rather classical like real buttons etc.
    I know it’s not pure EV, but I just loved it most. And when I realised that car which is not older than 1 year and with 10000 km is cheaper than all mentioned cars (new though)

      The BMW iX is the only BMW that survived from the i3 era i division team. Electric i5 and other evs were canceled and most of the original team that made the i3 and i8 left BMW. Thank god they canceled them and only the iX survived. Look up the leaked photos of the i5 (not the new one that's coming out in 2023), it looks terrible. Tom from insideevs has seen the iX in 2015 and said it's the only i Division BMW that didn't get canceled.

If it looks like an X3, but doesn’t have 4wd and is more expensive then wouldn’t you just buy an ICE X3. This is just going to push people into the ICE version… maybe that’s their goal! 🤫

    Great review of a car I’ve ordered myself as a company car, purely because the only other electric cars on the list were the EQC Sport and EQA, both of which weren’t as well specced as the IX3.
    Completely agree that BMW have really screwed up the styling on this car, which is probably why they’ve facelifted it already and released the M Sport version. The Premier Edition looks bland, and the extra styling cues on the bodywork detract from the car. With the black wheels (which I also think look crap), they’ve highlighted that it’s an electric car, whilst making it far less desirable than the petrol or diesel models.

    • @NotMyAccount
      @NotMyAccount 2 года назад

      I dont understand why didnt they just wait half a year more to release this directly as a facelift... it doesnt make sense considering they had to change some aspects design wise for a car that already had i-specific design bits like the bumpers the facelift ix3 shares with the regular M sport facelift. I guess they are learning from this schedueling issues and doing it right with the 3 series that will get an i3 version when the facelift is unveiled

    Truthfully it seems to me that the eNiro (Niro EV), that has been around for two years, is comparable to this BMW in performance for less than 2/3rds the price.
    And we know the eNiro was a stepping stone to get Kia’s feet wet for the EV6.
    Am I missing something here?

Its got its faults, but I wouldn't say no! 60k is pricey but who pays 60k up front, BMW offer great finance options and discounts which makes this more than affordable.

    I wish BMW would just update the i8's design a slight bit and made it fully electric.
    Actually, I wish they'd use the design language they developed for the i3 and i8 for their entire new electric car range...
    Or maybe some of that could also help their over piston powered cars.
    Those cars really had it all in terms of design. The i8 in particular.

    • @jamespaul2587
      @jamespaul2587 3 года назад

      Yes, but it would be a major redesign to transform the i8 to fully electric. If it was simple Toyota could have created a BEV Prius years ago, and GM could have made a fully electric Volt

    It isn't just you. This powertrain is already exceptional and would fit an estate even better. Boring package with the best adaptive recuperation to date. Reacts to traffic signs, anticipates the next one, is influenced by obstacles and route and even tries to avoid overtaking on the left. Drives like the unbumpy version of the i3s. Hard to believe that this is 900kg heavier and has me wondering if the rear axle would fit in mine. If anyone has the chance to drive this do it. And then go push bmw to put this powertrain in a real car.

    It's funny how BMW lost a decade in EV development and went from a pioneer to a follower. iX3 is a product BMW needs, but it's a compromise. Model Y or Ioniq 5 or even e-Tron 4 over iX3 for me.

    • @updlate4756

      This is for people who want a sporty, yet comfort car, rather than just pure acceleration. It's a quiet cabin; not as quiet as a coffin like the e-tron, but pretty good. It's also a comfortable ride. Now contrast that with Bjorn's review of the model Y where he's complaining about how harsh the ride is. That said, both cars are built in China, which as a self respecting man.. I couldn't possibly support. Let me know when 65% of their energy grid that helped build Chinese cars isn't made of coal, and their workers aren't making 20% of what a German/American worker makes.
