  • Detailed instructions for tying a Last Chance Cripple Hendrickson.
    Hook: Standard dry-fly hook (here, a Dai-Riki 300), sizes 12-16.
    Thread: 6/0 or 140 Denier, olive.
    Tail: Wood-duck or mallard-flank hackle fibers.
    Trailing shuck: Antron yarn, golden brown.
    Abdomen: Turkey biot, Hendrickson pink.
    Thorax: Rabbit dubbing, sand.
    Wing: Natural dun CDC feathers
    Hackle: Medium dun.

    Thanks, Tim. As usual, very well done. Question: Do you think coq de leon is too stiff for the tail? I love its mottled look but don't want to use it if not appropriate for this pattern.
