    Nice to see it’s not that complicated to switch out. A comparison between grinding with these new burrs and either of the old ones might have been interesting (comparing grind size distribution and such).
    I always wonder if these multi purpose burr sets try to do to much at once and end up doing neither very well.

      The titanium-coated burrs come standard on the Timemore Chestnut Slim and are options for the Timemore NANO and G1 but are not sold separately. The only Timemore burrs we sell are the stainless steel E&B burrs.

      Great question! You're not going to see a substantial improvement in grinding speed, but you will notice that the beans feed into the burrs better. And yes, you can grind much finer with the E&B burrs.

    Hi Steve, I ve just changed my c2 burr set to the e&b set out of curiosity. I have a question, in your test or grinds , do you see any change to dial in the grind clicks? For example , i used to dial at 17-18 clicks for pour over in the standard stell burr, but now I notice with the e&b dialled at 17-18 clicks seems to be finer. Thanks in advance.

    • @primacoffeeequipment
      @primacoffeeequipment  2 года назад +1

      Hi Goh,
      Yes, because the E&B burrs can grind in the finer espresso range, you will likely need to adjust your setting to slightly coarser.

    Do anyone knows the difference in result of pour over grind in E&B and the old standard steel? And how is the difference in taste?

    • @veganpotterthevegan
      @veganpotterthevegan 3 года назад +2

      I think the real difference is the access to more adjustments. Not sure about with pour over, but with espresso, you were stuck at click 8 before. 7 would only allow to you grind very VERY small beans, and 9 was too big to get anywhere close to 9 bars of pressure. So now, with espresso, you may have 3 useable settings and you'd possibly have more for pour over.

    Hello. I've seen multiple people say the steps on the G1 are a bit too big for espresso. I am wondering if timemore slim suffers the same issue. My top choices now are 1zpresso (je or jx pro) and Timemore Slim, with these new burrs. Maybe Kinu Phoenix too although it's a bit expensive for me. I'm looking for something to pair with flair classic.
    Do you think the Timemore Slim is reasonably stepped enough for proper espresso dialing in? Or would I just want to upgrade soon enough to a 1zpresso/comandante/kinu eventually and it might not be worth it?

    • @primacoffeeequipment
      @primacoffeeequipment  4 года назад

      The simple answer is that the Kinus have a stepless adjustment system and are built specifically for espresso; and the Timemore Plus grinders have a stepped adjustment system and are not built specifically for espresso (they can grind well all coarsenesses). The stepped systems means you cannot dial in espresso in the traditional way. Instead, you will have to home in on a general grind size, i.e. find the nearest step, and then adjust your espresso dose to compensate.

    Timemore have upgraded some of their other models in the chestnut range to E&B burrs (e.g. the slim plus) but when I emailed Timemore directly as to whether they would be doing that for the C2/C2 max, they replied that the E&B burrs were not compatibledue "due to an assembly problem". However, you've obviously shown here that it can be done for the C2 no problem, so I guess they were talking just about the C2 Max? Do you know if they will start shipping the C2 with the E&B burrs as standard like they have with others (e.g. the slim plus) and if so when? Also, do you know what the issue may be in putting the E&B burrs into the C2 Max?

    Hello PCE
    i have a Nano version with the standard steel burr. I'm looking to upgrade with the E&B burr set.
    - Can you confirm its compatible with the Nano too?
    - Looks like this set comes with the grinding wheel + the grinding ring.
    When you dismantle the Nano aparently only the wheel is replaceable not the ring right ?
    Thanks in advance.

      The E&B burrs are compatible with all the Timemore grinders, including the Chestnut series and the Plus series. The E&B burrs come as a set: you get both the center burr and the outer burr.

      @@primacoffeeequipment the E&B burrs are not compatible with the Nano. I received an email from them about this today: “Later we tested and Nano Plus may be not right for espresso and there might be potential for the burrs to touch each other.
      There is not enough space in the Nano to fit E&B burrs. So we quit Nano Plus after Oct 2020.”

    the alignment makes no sense, screws goes in holes what kind of alignment can happen by sticking the burrs together.

    • @LJ-wo1wf
      @LJ-wo1wf 3 года назад +1

      The outer burr doesn't have screw holes; it's held in place by the ring. What he did was, by not yet tightening down the ring, as the inner burr stays aligned on the shaft, it pushes into the outer burr, and the outer burr has no choice but to fit concentrically around the inner burr. The inner burr temporarily holds the outer burr in place at that point. Then he tightened the screws, which pull the ring against the outer burr and locks it down. After that, when you loosen the inner burr to grind, the outer burr keeps its concentric alignment.

      @@LJ-wo1wf Thank you for the explanation, I do this after cleaning thoroughly my C2 and it surprisingly works, before cleaning my C2 can start spin freely at 6 clicks, below that I can hear the burr slightly touching each other, but now the C2 can start spin freely at 4 clicks, I didn't notice any improvement on the grind result though.

      @@MrJab-hq8yk That process doesnt really matters much, what holds the burr and goin to dictated the alignment is the outter plastic holding, the outter burr will sit itself on it after u grind some beans.
