5:54 Knowing your creative background, that's amazing and crazy. You were charging $10 for the Patreon 1:1 tier! Maybe make it group instead if you want to keep the price approachable for your audience (which I totally understand, it's always a balance of I want to help but I also need to continue to live and eat indoors).
I know I know lol... some of my patrons were also making fun of me saying, "You know you can charge more than $10 😂" - at the time I just lost my job so it was almost a panic decision to even start a Patreon (aka I had no clue what I was doing). The idea of a group sesh to keep the price approachable crossed my mind, but then the anxiety of feeling like I'd be in charge of an online class/discussion took over haha.
Perhaps something to look into later down the road but thank you, I always appreciate your advice/insight 🙏🏼

#1 The agencies that have hired you for UGC are the ones that are lucky to have YOU. Not the other way around. Although you may be a “new creator” or “small channel blogger”, you’re a SEASONED professional with years of art direction experience. You are LUXE, you are PREMIUM. They will pay for it.

When you were saying videos that get a lot of views but the video is not about there channel. I have that. My channel is about skiing and cycling and those videos get very little views. The snow squall and the helicopter taking off got the most views. Nothing to do with Skiing and cycling. I have a full time job and make videos and shoot weddings for fun when I have time.

Great video and very informative! Also, not "if" you make it. You will! (So will we, lol.) Patreon is something I don't know much about, but wish I did look into it more. We, too, want to start working on brand deals this year. Trying to go all in with content creation while keeping our 9-to-5 jobs for the time being. Love the transparency in this! Thank you for being levelheaded and mature. I think way too many people get the bug and see dollar signs and think they will magically have monthly income that they can survive on by following their content creation dreams. 😂
The reality as we all know is that it is much harder to get there and even when you get there, the ups and downs are so extreme. It’s very hard to live on RUclips income.

This isn’t the first video I’ve watched about making money on RUclips, and I’ve noticed that most creators who are transparent about their income mention that AdSense and affiliate links are actually the smallest part of their earnings. The real game-changer (for some folks) seems to be having your own product to sell - have you done that? If yes, how was your experience?
What I mean is for example, a digital product, apparel, a course, or something in your niche. You strike me as someone with a great eye for organizing personal space with a stylish touch. Imagine one of your videos on this topic gets 100K views (or even just 15K across a few videos), and you’re selling a digital download related to it-a checklist, tips & tricks, a Notion template, or anything in your style. If just 1,000 people buy it for $10, that’s $10K from something you made once.
Also, your voice is incredibly soothing 🥰 I feel like you’d be great at podcasting. Especially since you’ve got valuable life experience in your 40s to share insights on career, personal growth, or even funny life stories. You could record a sit-down video and a podcast at the same time, repurposing content for multiple platforms.
Not trying to give advice or anything - just sharing what I’ve seen work for other creators. Your personality is really comforting and I feel like people would follow you across different products and platforms 🥰

I have thought about a digital product, or even some kind of merch, but I haven't gotten there yet and maybe a lot of the reason for that is imposter syndrome and the fear of failure (which oddly enough, I preach so much about not making decisions based on fear, smh).
I've even thought about a Podcast with my best friend haha. We've been planning to do a trial session in a future video just to give it a go. Maybe sometime this year we'll give it a go!

Im feeling the pain of quitting my job - in my case to move to Japan and go to art school. I still do part time online work and I have a sad baby RUclips channel and I try to get freelance illustration work. But the stress of financial instability and putting so much pressure on the art end of things is burning me out and seriously questioning my path forward. I appreciate the realistic breakdown of content creation - I’ve been really thinking of quitting RUclips to just focus on trying to get illustration work / another job
Hey, I'm sorry you're going through a tough season with your creator journey. My best advice I can give you is if you don't love making RUclips videos, if it's not your passion, maybe a break might help you see some things more clearly. I still love Vlogging, so I plan to continue to do so, but I think I'm letting go a bit of the dream of having it as a career path. For me, it's just not the right time, but I'm not hanging up my camera just yet!

That's also how I started, as a hobby and I was intending to keep that going for awhile but the job loss pushed me to try. Looks like you're doing well, just keep at it so long as you love it!

Aww thanks! Hard to say how much time goes into a video because sometimes it's a week of filming, and other times it's a few days but the filming itself kinda just happens naturally since it usually revolves around things I'm doing. Editing is what seems like it takes long since you're sitting for hours at the computer. I'd say it takes me a solid 1.5 days from editing to publishing

It is kind of misleading to see all of these videos that say "RUclips is on easy mode"! We've had a couple of brand deals, but would love to get more! Do you use any agency that you would recommend?
Where's our easy mode train ticket? 😭 I don't use an agency for brand deals, haven't found but so I've just been directly getting in contact with them.

Love this and love your content. You introduced me to pop mart! Do you think if you had put the UGC labor, those hours, into your own channel, translating to many more vids and views on your own account, it would have increased that Adsense number in a comparable way? I wonder, though diversifying income streams makes perfect sense. Thanks for sharing 👏
This is a good point and I had it on my notes but ended up not talking about it. If I didn't have the UGC work or PT work, I would probably have had to rely on brand deals to make more money, which would have still been rough IMO. Adsense relies on views so unfortunately there's no real way to control that. I could have pumped out more videos but at 2-4k views per video, that's still only about 20-50 a video.

You know creators from myanmar gets like only 0.15-0.4 $ RPM which is quite low
From my understanding, CPM/RPMs fluctuate based on the demographics of your audience.
@ yes , because in Myanmar , there is no ad sense and there is no ads in videos . So, when people from Myanmar watch it , it do not generate any budget. Can get only from people using VPN and watching from other countries. So, in general, it becomes quite low.

Hey... I subscribe to a few streamers (mostly Overwatch), and I subscribe to them for their gameplay, but more so for their personality and chat. Some are for gameplay tips. Have you considered using a webcam and chatting with your audience? TBH, I don't think I can sit through gameplay without anyone talking.
@MikeeRogers I would do a webcam, but my background isn't the best. So I try to speak as much as I can. Would getting a webcam help?
@V3GASx In my opinion, I think it would. Don't forget about the "You" in RUclips. A lot of times, that's what people are subscribing to, the you behind the content.

Not sure why I would make up a terrible financial year, lol, but this wasn't a video focusing on AdSense and analytics (that content is regurgitated so much, and I don't have anything to add that would be useful, nor is it even content that relates to my channel).
This was an update for my community on how my first year as a full-time creator went for those who have been following my journey. They've been with me for a whole year, trying to chase my dreams on RUclips, and unfortunately, it didn't play out the way I wanted. If you think that's fake, it's all good. This video wasn't for you.

I just hit my one year anniversary in content creation. I made $6.24 from Google ads for the last 365 days. Brutal! Keep up the great content!
Definitely brutal, but my first year in this journey was a whopping $0. We keep pushing until it's no longer fun!
