🇺🇸 Noticiero Univision - News Opens (1981-present)

- Happy 4th of July! To be quite honest, I'm not really feeling festive for the holiday this year, to put it simply. Yes, I'm pretty behind on updating my compilations, and it's because of college, looking through RUclips to find the origins of each news open so I can credit them, among other things. I'm trying to take things one step at a time, but rest assured, I will get to updating them.
For now, this news open compilation is the first one I've done not on a TV station, but rather a national network. In this case, the first Spanish-language TV network in the United States, Univision & their flagship news program, Noticiero Univision. This is also my longest news open compilation ever.
Unlike NBC, ABC (New York) & CBS (Washington D.C.), the two big Spanish networks, Univision & their rival Telemundo, produce their newscasts in Miami, a city known for it's large Latino population. This is actually an update of a compilation from "The Person", which was made in 2018 and I'm surprised it hasn't been updated by anyone until now. Their compilation can be found here: • Cabeceras (Openings) d...
In 1981, Univision, then known as the Spanish International Network (SIN), started producing national newscasts known as "Noticiero Nacional SIN", later simply "Noticiero SIN". Back then, most of SIN's content were outsourced by Televisa & ZGS (future owner of many Telemundo's affiliates; now owned by Telemundo). When SIN became Univision in 1987, the network brought on Jorge Ramos & María Elena Salinas, both of whom worked for a ZGS-produced weekly newsmagazine "América" & KMEX 34 in Los Angeles. Ramos & Salinas would co-anchor Noticiero Univision for 30 years until 2017 when Salinas left the network, with Ilia Calderón taking her place. As of 2022, Jorge Ramos remains with Univision and is slated to become the longest-running news anchor for a national newscast in the US, with the late Jim Lehrer from PBS currently at the top, having served from 1975 to 2011.
Noticiero Univision expanded to late-night & weekend newscasts in 1989 under the titles "Edicion Nocturna" & "Fin De Semana". In 2000, the late-night newscast rebranded as "Ultima Hora" with Enrique Gratas anchoring, modeled after ABC's Nightline. This changed in 2011, when "Edicion Nocturna" returned. During Univision's 2013 revamp, the legendary melody used since 1989 was briefly replaced for 3 days until it was reversed and mixed in the new jingle with the famous melody. I'd say it was as bad as when WPVI in Philly briefly had the London Phillharmonic Orchestra perform their MCTYW theme in 1996 & had many people upset. 2016 saw the debut of their noon newscast "Edicion Digital", which was made for live-streaming on internet platforms, including RUclips.
Phew, that was a mouthful. Anyway, let's get on with the compilation.

Really good montage of the Univision era especially it’s hard to get SIN clips and they’ve just come out, but the 90s are kinda hard to get too so great montage im impressed.
Here's where you could find the SIN News clips. ruclips.net/channel/UC-wR8D6jCy-5E6Rpmk3la5w

the FIFA news really aged well lol
15:42 I’ve never heard this theme music! Sounds amazing… and new! This should’ve been used today…
Huh
I'd argue that how Univision in 2012-2021 showed the news headlines on screen next to the anchors was innovative and ahead of its time, especially when the camera pans to the other side of the screen showing the last headline. The fact that they took that away and went back to just showing the headlines on screen is a complete step back. Even CBS did it with their news back in 2006-2007, then went back to showing the headlines on screen.
I understand it might've been difficult for the anchors to read through the teleprompter as the camera pans to the other side of the screen, but it still looked cool. Regardless, it's still nice to see Univision's history from the days they used to be SIN.
Grew up with Noticiero Univision.
Don’t forget that Edición Nocturna female anchors has been changed. Patricia Janiot was stepped down the anchor chair and desk to support her family more time on September 2022. Maity Interiano, who was an anchor on weekend edition, she was promoted to still as of now an anchor of late evening edition.
UPDATE:
On November 2023, Leon Krauze was fired from Univision News that cause by interference on Donald Trump. On January 2024, Elian Zidan, who is Maity Interiano’s brother in law, was promoted to still as of now an anchor of late news edition. He came from WXTV Univision 41 in New York City.
Rest in peace Enrique Gratas

The best theme music that has. 4:30
4:29 8/2/04 a new theme begins, and it's been pretty much that way since.
No, it was started in June 2004. Not August.
It's hard to find the two openings between 1990-1995 in good quality these days...
Very cool intro compilation.
Little weird fact: the "edition digital" still uses the 2019-2021 intro of the regular 630 PM and nightly new intros

What about Newyddion?
This is now your longest video to date, besting that of your TVQ-10 news opens video by over a half-hour. Speaking of Brisbane, BTQ-7 just got new graphics very recently & also, WWSB ABC7 Sarasota changed their opens - but not their graphics package - in the fall of 2020.
At 1:47, Noticiero SIN Open From 1983 Until 1987.
thanks for this compilation. can you do a similar one with Telemundo?

Can you do the Noticiero Telemundo Evolution?
He doesn't take requests. Sorry.
