I prefer the 2002 TC 88 models with the hot forged crank with Timken bearings. Probably the only TC88 model you can safely work up to 103ci stage IV SE. Mine has 107hp and 162nm tq. I had it on the dino to confirm those numbers. Never any problems.
The 88 to 95 is far superior to the 96 it has too many problems compared to the 88 it has to be switched to gear drive only ! As far as the compensator goes the early twin cams have basically an evo style comp that is far superior to the 96 comp & the screaming chicken comp . @donniebrookins6215 don't do that. Do a 95inch. Best engines I've had so far. I'm in a big MC and ride Coast to Coast and my best bikes have had 95 inch, mind all were Dyna Tsports.
I have a 2006 Ultra Classic I purchased it from the original owner in November of 2010 it had 8,192 Mi on it. I give $13,000 for it. The bike was in excellent shape. My wife and me have took many week-long trips on it through the Smoky Mountains several times. Been in 17 different states a lot of them States several times. The bike now has 122,457 Mi on it. I have always run 20 W 50 Lucas full synthetic oil and a K&N oil filter. It does not use oil it does not smoke it pulls as good as it ever did. Still 88 cubic inch. Cylinders have never been touched. I am 73 years old and still put 5,951 Mi on it in 2023 just day riding with my buddies. Had a right knee replacement October 25th I would have had more miles than that. It has been a great bike. I love it. Be careful, ride safe.

Great to see wisdom instead of ego. Ive travelled the country and mileage and reliabilty are #1. Having huge power on wet mountain switchbacks is not desirable. Trying to cross the USA looking for the next gas station is not fun. Have two HDs. Dont need to advertise what they are. Ride what you have.
51 years in the saddle for me. The 88 is a superb engine. I bought my 06 softail standard new stock and installed the S&S 310c complete cam chest kit and can safely say its the best decision ive made. Id never dreamed such a mild upgrade would make such a profound difference. Upgraded the coil, wires, plugs and with the fuel map added this old 88 has a new and different life ahead. Im more than impressed and happy, its money well spent period. Its raining right now but im going to go start it just to hear er idle for a minute LOL😆🤙. Yall be safe out there, its a war ZoNe☠.
@brianbayowski9265 i thought it was up to 2006 they had the spring pack built into the stator rotor and those springs were weak. i don't know im a shovel guy trapped in a twincam. I keep asking if i can get surgery for that but no one ses to know. haha
I owned one Shovel and I was happy to get rid of it. Started riding EVO’s and loved them….still great engines for what they are. Bought a new 1999 Dyna Convertible with the 88 Twin Cam….unfortunately at 9,000 miles; the cam bearings went out in the middle of nowhere. Got rid of that bike as it was at the shop getting fixed. Ruined me on Twin Cams and I went back to my tried and true EVO’s. Then, Harley seriously updated the touring bikes in 2010 and they got the 103. Great touring bikes and so much better than earlier models. My opinion, the 103 is much improved over the earlier Twin Cams and is still powerful right out of the factory. Having said that, my EVO powered bikes put a bigger smile on my face.
An older gentleman just came in the dealership with 150k miles on his 96”. Compression was good and it wasn’t burning oil. He hadn’t done anything but regular maintenance.
You nailed it Gixxer. Had my TC 96 compensator fixed about 4 years. Since then paid for SS cams, gear drive and oil pump. Changed oil today on the motorcycle.
I won't be increasing bore until I need to rebuild the top end of my '08 Fatbob. I put in some Woods 555 cams, and a 30 tooth pulley early on and never felt the need for more power for the past 50K miles. With upgraded suspension this thing is a hoot in mountain twisties!
I’m looking at getting an 07 FXDB, some of these videos started filling me with dread but this was the light, it was nice to hear someone being positive about twin cams for once.
I have a 09 Fat Bob with a 96. I wanted to stay on top of the known issues. I put in a feuling oil pump along with cam chain tensioners @25k miles. Stage oned it with an FP3 tuner. Replaced the compensator, tensioner, and clutch, with a BDL. 2" belt drive. It takes awhile to gat used to it not clunking into gear any more. Now at 32k miles. TOTALLY PROBLEM FREE...I also hopped up the ignition with Accell stealth coils. Dressed up the ugly side nicely. When it is time to freshen her up, I think cams, 103 jugs. Maybe this year for my 68th birthday. I forgot, i bought the bike new. Looks and rides better than day 1...
I just did star racing 577 cams on my 96”. Just slip ons can’t afford 2n1. Just cams, cam bearings, adjustable rods. I am now at 94 Hp and 103 torque. I’m impressed for just doing cams!
When I purchased my 2003 Road King Classic it already came with a 95 ci engine. One of the reasons for me buying my bike was the prior owner had already upgraded the 88 ci with the Screaming Eagle Kit. I liked the idea of having more torque. For being a 95 it screams loudly when I want to bring it fo life. No buyer's remorse whatsoever.
Foo, you need some corner carving backroad rides to get over your jonesing for more horsepower and torque all the time. A nice river road or a mountain pass scenic buffet is what I enjoy but I do also enjoy getting my Foo-Fix so keep the entertaining and informative videos coming and I’ll treat them as a buffet taking what advice I can use and leave that wh too hard on my wallet. You know Foo you’re beginning to remind me of Tim Allen on Home Improvement always wanting MORE POWER!
Lol I grew up watching Home Improvement all the time! I really appreciate your support on the channel! There's always more power to be had an eventually no matter what we do we will want to change it up a little bit!
Great vids on the twinkies, my 08 UG has a 103 stage 3 pro kit 10;5-1 forged pistons and 259 cam she honks, still original comp and tensioner, just upgraded clutch plates to SE and i treat my throttle like a light switch ON/OFF no in between. Just took my sons stock 07 FB 96'' out today (its like a minus 20 wind chill), what a difference in power between the bikes. can't wait to do a stage kit on it for him.
I have a 2010 Electra Glide Classic - it has plenty of power. My main concern is improving reliability and in doing so reduce the probability of a breakdown in the middle of no where. I added an Oil Cooler, a better cam plate and oil pump, roller bearing rocker arms from S&S. I also added in a Darkhorse Compensator Eliminator, and a Rekluse Clutch and a Haden Primary Chain tensioner. I haven't added it yet: but I do have a larger Oil Pan from Baker to increase total amount of oil for the engine to draw on for lubrication and cooling.. I did add on Wilber's suspension and a Mustang seat and a Klockwerks screen....the seat with it's back rest and the Wilbers suspension. Made a huge difference in terms of comfort.
My 2009 Harley Davidson FLHTCU stared out as a 96ci. I had an S&S 106 Hot set installed. The primary is on its 3rd Comp and clutch with a new outer cover (has cast oil deflectors built in and not glued on plastic parts). All the lights except for the tour pac are LED. I had a SE cam plate, oil pump, and Rockers installed prior to the Big Bore kit. The heads, throttle body, and intake manifold, are still stock. One of these days I need to make a list of all the mods that I've done to the bike. It is my first and only Harley and I enjoy riding it. A 2009 ultra with 65K miles and it can hang with the M8 bike without a problem. Going to have the engine mounts replaced soon.
Yea, the M8 just isn’t what the TwinCam, although it does offer a few positive quirks to work with. I’ve had both & I still like the TwinCam better, it has more possibilities…🤠
96 are a good middle ground between the 88 and 103, they are stout with exhaust, air cleaner and tune. You can always bolt on a 103 top end kit with a compression bump and a cam, that will wake them up.
I love my 96" 2010 Road King with Andrews 48H cams, Powervision tuner and Vance & Hines 2-into-1 Propipe. 45k miles now, completely reliable (except the usual - compensator, rectifier, primary chain tensioner). Did it myself coutesy of the Service Manual and a RUclips video. No problem keeping up with the newer models in my HOG Chapter. But it is too loud for me now and there are no options to quiet it.
I never out grew my 75 FL. That bike made me a better person. I learned mechanics, machining, painting, designing. I learned that I could learn. My bike shows what I can do, not what some shop did. I'm proud of my bike, and it's given me reasons to be proud of myself.. your newer Harleys offer a ride.
That's awesome to hear! I have never heard anyone put it like that, that is so true for many that owned and worked on their own bikes and they might not even realize.
I had a 96" on a police touring bike and was 100% happy with it but blew the front cylinder inner cam bearing @50k miles. Since it was apart I did a 103" screaming eagle long block swap to 110". Basically a brand be bike lol. There is a huge difference in power for seat feel. Will the reliability hold... who knows. But the 96" was solid and a great platform. I wish I took it apart and did some wear items like the cam bearings and cam chest upgrades. It would have saved me some time and money in the long run, but I had fun.
My 96b in my softail has a stage one kit. Keeps up with my friends on their m8 powered streetglides. I’m doing a SE compensator and SE primary tensioner with my next primary fluid change.
I bought my '07 SG with the 96' and the 6spd with like 500 miles on it.. Left it stock-ish for a long time and never had any issues.. Started throwing hp's at it a couple years ago and its been a money pit ever since.
Did the same thing with a low mile 2004 R.K. Sport. Very reputable shop did the work. That was only the beginning of throwing money at it. I’ve known a lot of others that were happy with the power but were sorry with the oil leaks and reliability. Leave em stock as long as you can. If you want a race bike, go buy a race bike.
Got a 96 build up to 107 … Starting with a SS crank and all the goods $12000 Canadian also beef up Comp&clutch ..rebuild Jim’s kit transmission,It’s a new bike again. Also love you post always a like even before I see it .
My Andrews 48H cams have just arrived, they'll be going into my Fat Bob 96 ready for my trip to the IOM TT in May. It won't win any races but it should pull very nicely up the Mountain!
Great overview of what I’ve been through on my 07 RKC I’ve owned since new. Trans went out at 70k stockish motor, in went DD7. Woods 555, S&S pump and plate and rebuild of cam chest came together following year. Then 2 years ago did a Fuel Moto 107 w all S&S parts, CP Carrillo pistons. Last summer I upgraded clutch and Baker tensioner on a rainy day. Crossing into the 100k club, extra power and gear is nice but that cam swap was the most bang for the buck. Great video.
@@roberttrimble6361 I love it.. definitely do the s&s cam plate and oil pump if you can swing it. I had done the baker dd7 a couple years before. I sent the heads to zippers as part of the upgrade. The woods cam really changed bike also.
I bought my 2003 carbureted Harley Davidson fat boy 100th anniversary, black silver edition with 9,000ish miles and everyone thinks it was already built to a 96" It's very streetable, extremely dependable and never once overheated living in Florida. I've owned the bike almost 4 years and NEVER once had an issue. Bikes now has 32k on it. And yes, I had vanshines pipes with a K&N air filter. My bike is the epitome of what a harley davison should sound like. My bike's name is, True Love
Good video as usual. To me, it was always about the ride, not how fast I could get somewhere. My stock '72 ElectraGlide and '97 WideGlide have always done the job, with plenty to spare when it was needed, and with only less restrictive air cleaners and drag pipes or Fishtails. I've owned 20 Harleys over 51yrs, and I've never spent a penny hotrodding any of them.
@@96HC12 I ran a slightly modified Sportster at the strips for a coupla years, that satisfied my need for speed, but I still didn't have invested in it what some of these guys throw into bikes just to ride on the street. Ride safe.👍
I bought a 2008 Softail deluxe 96 c.i. a year ago n had the cam chest area replaced with se cams, cam plate, oil pump, cam bearings, tensioners, chain, n had pinion shaft runout checked. Just to be on safe side since I didn't know what previous owner did.
I did everything he mentioned as miles accumulated on my 07. New trans, top end, clutch etc etc. The most bang for the buck was an easy to install Woods 555 cam, I ended up doing oil pump and plate from S&S while in there.
I’ve got a 2010 ultra that had about 54,000 on it when I tore into it. I went to a s&s cam plate with the oil pump up grade. I installed new inner bearings and fueling chain tensioners. I installed a woods 222 cam set and lifters. Fuel Moto quickie push rods. And a power vision with fuel Moto tune on it. I’m running a bassani road rage 2-1. The 96” is making about 107hp and I chose the 222 cam for the down low power for running the touring bike. I’m very happy that it pulls like a freight train at a 55mph roll on in 6th gear. And the motor pulls hard from a little better than idle on to 6000. In my opinion the smaller grinds work very well in these heavy bikes. I’ve got a bud that had a m8 with some stuff done to it and when we both roll on at the same time neither one of us pulled away from each other.
I have a 2008 FLHTCUI That 96 pushes it just fine. replaced the compensator with a screaming eagle and the timing chain tensioner shoes at 41,000 miles. So far so good.the Amsoil makes it run much cooler.
Ride your older bike with no more than a cam swap until 50k miles, then buy a S&S 111 motor.. they come with 585 cams and run awesome for about $7500 bucks.. Then sell your still running 96 for $2000-2500 bucks.. Its cheaper and smarter than dumping tons of money into the top end and hoping the crank won't go bad.. The 111 runs circles around most all my buddies bikes and sounds like a beast..
I have a 2008 Low Rider with SEII slip-ons and SE intake. My 2010 Wide Glide is bone stock. When I bought the Low Rider new I had all these plans to mod the snot out of it. Never went beyond the bolt-ons. Guess I like the bikes the way they are...reliable....lol!

I have a 2000 Fat Boy with the SE 88 to 95 with SE ported heads, SE 204 cams, Rinehart 2-into-1 exhaust and S&S Super E carb. It is much faster in all aspects than my 2000 EFI Road King that has V&H dresser duals and stage 1 breather.
Does the tc96 compensator/chain tensioner / clutch issues still occur when left stock ? What about after just doing a stage one and a set of mild cams nothing crazy?
I recently acquired a 2007 Fatboy 96" engine - all bone stock, bike had 1,820 miles on it! I am just planning a cam chest upgrade, S&S billet cam plate and oil pump, new cam bearings, a pair of Woods TW-222, S&S lifters & "quickie" push rods. Also, breathing, upgrading air cleaner, and losing the cats, installing free flowing exhaust with crossover. Add a tune to pull it together. I am thinking that those mods will get me mid to high 90's hp, and a taste over 100 foot pounds of torque. Already covered primary chain adjuster to a more manual that can't over tighten, (trying the M6 type), and am ordering a sprocket. Not sure which supplier as yet, still researching. Leaving the rest factory stock, and see how she rolls. Always another winter ahead - who knows what the future holds, bore and compression upgrades? A maybe. I am 70 now, and think this round of upgrades will get me what I am shooting for. Opinions? Comments welcome ..... Thanks to all you Gixxerfoo fans, and of course, the channel.
I've always thought the 96 on my 08 Fat bob was a bit anemic. Yesterday I rode a 22 model with the 114. HUGE torque difference and I really like the extra power. Problem is the cost of a newer bike. Maybe I'll end up working the 96 over.
I had purchased new 2 96"ers, an 07 and an 09, the performance difference between the 2 as stock was huge which I found interesting. Neither stayed stock for long tho.
I don't recommend a stronger clutch spring if you have a 88 twin cam. I had it done and it caused a plate failure resulting in the rear tire locking up. Luckily at slow speed.
I have a 06 street glide with 88inc and tw6 cams and a D&D pipe with a direct link dyno tuning my bike 90hp and 93 torque make pretty good power for just cams and pipe
My first bike was a Victory Hammer, with the 100" OHC engine. My first Harley, and my current bike, is a 16 Road Glide Ultra with the 103 HO. While I don't feel that it's as fun as the Hammer was, I see the potential for more power if I decide that down the road. With almost 90k miles on it, I'll probably have to completely tear it down if I got that route. I do miss my Hammer though, that bike was just plain angry and handled so much better.
Looking to buy a converted trike. It has a 96 engine with a Mackie Engineering 510 cam set, adding torque from Idle to 5500 rpm. No info as yet on whether there was any other engine mods. It has approx 37k total miles on the bike. Any compensator besides a Screaming Eagle you would recommend?
If you're going to do it I would go with a Dark Horse Compensator Eliminator with the rubber damper, that damper is serviceable too as well. Less bs and moving parts to deal with, they will hold up to some stupid horsepower and torque too.
Have a 2008 FLHTCUI stock. I has plenty of power with the Amsoil V twin oil if driven right I got 50 mpg with this engine on a very heavy bike, plenty of power for cruising anywhere.
Picked up a SE 95 kit cheap , for a 96 ci , changed pistons , boom a103 , oh yeah added a bolt in andrews 48hcam , cobra 2 into 1 ... 97hp , 117 tq . Made 103hp , detunded to rid decel pop .
I've got both, and no I don't want to go bigger with my 88B. Yes I have changed the 88B to a gear drive and changed the cam, pushrods, pipes, carb and ignition. But it still has the standard cam plate and oil pump, and will probably never need any of those expensive replacement parts as it has the tried and tested Timken roller bearings. The 96B has just had the slip-ons changed, K&N filter and its got a SE Super Tuner. But my 88B will leave my 96B standing when it matters.
Pretty big difference on the gear drive, timing is more accurate and you don't have to worry about tensioner shoes but you sure gotta make sure the crank is true.
Looking to beef up my 08 Dyna Low Rider 96" with some cams this year. I have a stage 1 dyno tuned with bigger breather and V&H Big Radius pipes. Dunno how far down the rabbit hole I'll go with it, but cams for sure. Looking at Woods specifically, mostly just booting around town and some shorter highway hops.
I’ve got the same bike. Stone reliable. I rode a 1999 Glide for 13 yrs and never had a problem with it. This 08 96” has WAY more two up passing power than the 88” ever had. No comparison all around. Like you I did an air cleaner, tuner and true duals. More than pleased. Runs like a top.
Thinking about buying a used TC 96 to replace the 88 on my 05RG. I do all of my wrenching so the cost to buy, go through and replace makes sense. I figure that I can look ahead before I really need it. Then, I can rebuild (really upgrade) the 88 for back stock. Thanks for the great content. I always look forward to your vids. cb
I have a 2008 Road King Classic 96ci, with stage 1. I currently have 73,000km and absolutely love it. I admit, i don't know a whole lot about them, but have been researching a ton, and of course, watching this channel (and love it!). Ive put about 7000 km on the bike since i bought it. Last winter i opened the cam chest and checked the cam chain tensioners, but stupidly didnt look at the inside one. Outside one was in perfect shape. I might tear it apart again this winter and give it a real good look see. Definately open to suggestions or advise!
its real easy to check and should be as that one wears faster than the outside one. you can pilut a flat screwdriver on the hook right in front of the shoe and push it back , shine a light down there and see it great but at 73k it's most likely already been done at least once. scratch that you've got hydraulic tensioners they could last another 10k
It has always been agravating how Harley seems to have fairly low factory horsepower numbers considering their displacement. I think they do this hoping you will spend money on their aftermarket. Screamin Eagle makes some good parts, but if you are after the highest horsepower and torque numbers, stay away from their cams, and go with Woods, Feuling, or S & S. The Harley motors just now are putting out some decent hp numbers from factory. But its out of a 114 at around 86 hp from factory. The twin cam 88 should be that from the factory. 80 = 85 well tuned hp, and 100 ft. lbs. of torque is going to feel good on a Harley, and allow you to keep up with about anyone. There is no need to have 100 plus hp unless you are into racing, etc.
My 96 is mostly stock other than exhaust, intake and tuner. I addressed the compensator (eliminator) and the tensioner (Hayden) last year so I'm thinking I'm ready for cams. I'd like to do a big bore at some point but I think doing cams first then riding it till that gets boring would be more fun. Then maybe I'll go to the 110.
Woods 222 or S&S EZ start 583 or 551 are awesome.. you never have to downshift anymore.. if you really think your gonna go with a 110 in the future, get S&S 585 ez start.. they will work pretty good with stock bore and heads, but will be perfect for the upgraded bore.. Torque cams like the first I listed won't be enough cam for the bigger bore.. and with the 585's your only giving up 3-5hp until you upgrade.. Your low rpm torque just wont be as high, but that's what I wish I did. I bought 583's and now replacing them for 585's since i'm moving to a fuel moto 107 kit with higher compression. The ez start s&s cams are great in 96's since they don't have auto compression releases like the 103in and newer bikes have. They start like stock and save you from burning starters or drilling and tapping in compression releases into your stock heads..
Do you prefer the Twin Cam 88 built to a 95 or Twin Cam 96 with some cams, maybe some added compression?
Do you have a video for Twin Cam 103 needed upgrades and performance mods?
I think twin cam 96 is a great base for me. Usually solo rider and a light feel to the bike 🤟✌️
I prefer the 2002 TC 88 models with the hot forged crank with Timken bearings.
Probably the only TC88 model you can safely work up to 103ci stage IV SE. Mine has 107hp and 162nm tq.

I have a 2005 sportster 1200 custom and a 1995 FXDWG, 80 CID. The Evos are great to ride.
I had a 96 never had a problem with it. Good motor
I like the short stroke of the 88 and then the bore of the 95 inch it makes for a very quick motorcycle
I had a 74 and that was plenty.
An older gentleman just came in the dealership with 150k miles on his 96”. Compression was good and it wasn’t burning oil. He hadn’t done anything but regular maintenance.
I'm still satisfied with my stock cam 96 at 47K but you never know when the bug will hit.
You nailed it Gixxer. Had my TC 96 compensator fixed about 4 years. Since then paid for SS cams, gear drive and oil pump. Changed oil today on the motorcycle.
I’m very happy with my 2017 heritage Softail. It has the 103HO, which has plenty of power for me.
Love my 103 stock twin cam.
Dogg-Gone...Good advice you give out to us fellow Harley-Riders...Thanks.
I love my 2004 88 and 2013 103.
I won't be increasing bore until I need to rebuild the top end of my '08 Fatbob. I put in some Woods 555 cams, and a 30 tooth pulley early on and never felt the need for more power for the past 50K miles. With upgraded suspension this thing is a hoot in mountain twisties!
I would almost rather put the money in the suspension first, that will make you faster even with the same amount of power!
I love my twin cam 96 just the wayvit us. Bone stock. The thought of getting 200 miles on a tank of fuel just seems appealing to me.
Same here bro. Can’t figure spending big bucks to make a Harley go faster….?
How are ypu getting that many miles? I have a wide glide tank on mine and i only get 150+/- (i also ride like a bat out of hell)
I’m looking at getting an 07 FXDB, some of these videos started filling me with dread but this was the light, it was nice to hear someone being positive about twin cams for once.
I don't think it's a bad motor at all, it's not perfect but by no means is it junk.
My 80” Evo has all the power I need.
I'm happy with 103 twin cam HO. No need to blow money.
103 was the best Twin Cam made and of course they switched motors after that.
Yes, with the HO , They increased compression, air cleaner better flow, and cam was upgraded to basically Same as CVO
I love my 103ho.
.might be my stopping point...as you stated 103 was when they got everything right
@@Crashking14 sure did.
Made a huge difference in terms of comfort.
and i bet you dickvis alread hug haha yeah thats what we all should be doing replace the shit parts they come with at 50k for piece of mind.
Sounds like she's set up to be nice and reliable 🤘🤘
I have that bike also ,, like ya say ,, , it's a good ride .....
04 king TW88 just did 100’’ AW 55 cams and heads port polished with bigger valves dyno at 110hp 120ftpt… she’s a runner
I also had to upgrade my clutch
The 103ci TwinCam is one of the best “base” engines Harley ever produced. You could do almost any mods!!!
Def agree- typically once Harley had the kinks worked out , they start to phase out that generation 😢
And replaced it with the metric sounding M8 with no character and a PLASTIC intake manifold! ☠️
Yea, the M8 just isn’t what the TwinCam, although it does offer a few positive quirks to work with. I’ve had both & I still like the TwinCam better, it has more possibilities…🤠
I am coNpletely happy with my 96 as is
96 are a good middle ground between the 88 and 103, they are stout with exhaust, air cleaner and tune.
How do you like that cam over stock?
Love my andrews 48H cam
I just put the 48 in my 13 streetbob she pulls pretty hard and v&h comp 2into1 and Arlen nest big sucker now I need to upgrade the primary
You've helped me find out what head I had on my bike when you explained the difference in valve stem size. I appreciate that thank you .
My 96 with slip-ons, air filter and tune is good enough for me.
Me Too. Love my 08 96”
I had a 96" on a police touring bike and was 100% happy with it but blew the front cylinder inner cam bearing @50k miles.
Those Evo engines are hard to beat, they are a lot of fun to ride!
A Harley looks like a Harley when the Harley’s been ridden. It’s not what you ride but where you’re going.
When the 96 came out. I said this is perfect. This is the sweet spot with the helicut transmission.
My 96b in my softail has a stage one kit. Keeps up with my friends on their m8 powered streetglides. I’m doing a SE compensator and SE primary tensioner with my next primary fluid change.
I have a Heritage Classic with S&S 511 cams, and I love it. 106tq and 97hp.
Great Video as Always ! Thx !!
I've said the same and agree with both these comments. 🤔👍
Well, you guys just cancelled all my plans and thoughts i had about adding a cam for my RK07😂 guess i'll leave it stock
Got a 96 build up to 107 … Starting with a SS crank and all the goods $12000 Canadian also beef up Comp&clutch ..rebuild Jim’s kit transmission,It’s a new bike again. Also love you post always a like even before I see it .
That sounds like you're doing everything right on that build! Crank up is the absolute best way to make that happen!
I just did that same build, refreshing a 107 that was born a 96. Man that aint cheap tho eh?
The rebuilt was a 92500km and the motor is still strong at 121300…it eats up any stock 107/114 but not a 121 lol
My Andrews 48H cams have just arrived, they'll be going into my Fat Bob 96 ready for my trip to the IOM TT in May. It won't win any races but it should pull very nicely up the Mountain!
You won't be disappointed climbing the mountain with that new cam in there!!
Also have the 07 RKC, been looking at the Fuel Moto 107 (10.25:1). Wood 555 gave best bang though?
@@roberttrimble6361 I love it.. definitely do the s&s cam plate and oil pump if you can swing it. I had done the baker dd7 a couple years before. I sent the heads to zippers as part of the upgrade. The woods cam really changed bike also.
A few buddies have the 96 TC, I think its a good all round stock combo, a set of cams is all you'd want really.
I love that! Bikes like that are absolutely timeless!
Got a twin cam 96 converted to 113
Those 113's are no joke, I bet it hauls!
@GixxerFoo yes lots of power. Send me your email, and I will send you pictures.
Well said. If you want a freakin race bike….Go buy a race bike.
@@96HC12
I ran a slightly modified Sportster at the strips for a coupla years, that satisfied my need for speed, but I still didn't have invested in it what some of these guys throw into bikes just to ride on the street.
Have an 2008 96 twin cam and love it . Been thinking of doing a cam and your videos have helped me tremendously.
I also forgot to add that I went with a Hayden primary tensioner and a compensator delete
Big G'day GixxerFoo from Down Under 🇦🇺
Happy New Year & all the best for "24.
May all your days be Harley days🖤🧡🖤
Safe travels 🙏♥️🐾🐾🇦🇺
Happy new year!!
Nothing wrong with a nice air cleaner, exhaust and tune. They pull pretty good just like that if you ask me!
The 06 88tc Dyna came out with the hydraulic cam chain tensioners I put in solid comp and Hayden chain tensioner 80000 miles and still going strong.
2011 ultra w/96ci 6spd 107,000 h/flow oil pump cam swap gear drive not aggressive, comp delete (noisy) Barnett extra plate clutch just back from sc to to Cincinnati right turn Lewiston Maine u-turn back across upstate New York hauling a trailer never missed a beat love my 96
I remember the day when if you had a 96 inch shovel you had something special.
I put a s&s 106bb with s&s mr103 easystartcams & S&S headwork. 110hp 115tq.
Good show 👏
Thank you! I appreciate your support!!
I love my 103 Sir! I love my Twin Cam!
I still say that 103 was the best Twin Cam ever made, of course they get it right and switch to the M8.
I agree Sir, I love my 103 High Output. Boom! Drop the 🎤 and ride away, Lol
I've always thought the 96 on my 08 Fat bob was a bit anemic. Yesterday I rode a 22 model with the 114. HUGE torque difference and I really like the extra power. Problem is the cost of a newer bike. Maybe I'll end up working the 96 over.
A nice little 103 kit with some compression and some cams will really wake that 96 up!
I'm just waiting for the aftermarket to make M8 heads for the twin cams!
Thanks 😊
I have a 06 street glide with 88inc and tw6 cams and a D&D pipe with a direct link dyno tuning my bike 90hp and 93 torque make pretty good power for just cams and pipe
My 07' is clearly my forever bike and started by getting rid of the auto chain adjuster in the side case
I do miss my Hammer though, that bike was just plain angry and handled so much better.
has an inventor DIY heads filled with coolant circulating?
Not everybody hotrods😂 but i do. Thank you for your content
Absolutely!! Thank you for supporting the channel too!
Maybe one day I'll pop for some cams for my 08 FXSTC. Nothing wrong as is.
Already got a 110 !
Picked up a SE 95 kit cheap , for a 96 ci , changed pistons , boom a103 , oh yeah added a bolt in andrews 48hcam , cobra 2 into 1 ... 97hp , 117 tq . Made 103hp , detunded to rid decel pop .
it's still a 95. It can't be a 103 unless you stroked it.
Sorry used on a 96ci 2008 .
Cam chain tensioner switched to gears, any difference?
Pretty big difference on the gear drive, timing is more accurate and you don't have to worry about tensioner shoes but you sure gotta make sure the crank is true.
07 UC. Installed Chris Revas 574 cams, ultra cool oil cooler and S.E. clutch spring she rides nice but you know, always want more.
Cam swap for sure. Love my 96.
Happy New Year brother.
You're the best.
Johnny Boy
Happy New Year to you!! Thank you for the support on the channel!
I love my 96 on my crossbones to be honest I pick up a set of cvo 110 jobs for cheap
I would like to change the cams
I have a 08 FLHTC. I think it has enough already. I’m planning on slip ons Air cleaner & a tuner. Than leaving it alone
Always very informative...thanks.
Thank you for the support!!
I love my 88
It has always been agravating how Harley seems to have fairly low factory horsepower numbers considering their displacement.
I love your content but wish you could do more on the M8 newer bikes. Best regards from Sweden
I'm staying with the twins cam bikes, got three of them...
