    English prepositions all mean approximately the same thing.
    In America, traffic signs state “drive IN your lane” when correct is “drive ON your lane”
    Philippines knows English better than Americans because their traffic signs correctly use ON.
    Tagalog has two prepositions, Saan and Nasaan. English with hundreds of prepositions should follow their lead rather than poor kids having to listen to English profs drone on about subtle and confusing differences in the unnecessarily large quantity of prepositions

    Hi, dear Alex! It's been amazing to watch your videos and learn from them. You really make the English learning process a lot easier and - at least for me - completely accessable.
    By the way, I learned that you are from Russia, and I just discovered the Russian literature. I've been reading the book "Dead Souls" ("Almas Mortas" in Portuguese), by Nikolai Gogol. I see his birthplace is a controversial subject, but I think he can be included in the Russian writers list. What can I say now? I just can't stop reading that book. It's simply amazing.

    It is good message for me because I am not french or spanish speaker so I am free from mistakes as that. But... my english is still as nothing. I want to use "dirty word" right now so I gonna to use ancient-greece word "σκυβαλα". Apostle Paul used it one time, in Bible!!!

    Hello sir, how are you? I would like to ask a question about modal verb"Need". The question is " I need to have been a professor/doctor".Is it correct as per you? please sir tell me on comment.

    • @engvidAlex
      @engvidAlex  Год назад

      Yes, this sounds fine, though I’d need to see the rest of the context. Something like this sounds possible to me: “To be eligible for that position, you need to have been a professor with at least 5 years of post-secondary experience.”

    Sir, is depend on a phrasal verb?

    • @engvidAlex
      @engvidAlex  Год назад

      Yes. It is a combination of a verb and a preposition, and it has an idiomatic meaning. Some might just call it a prepositional verb (similar to “listen to” and “agree with”), but because of its idiomatic usage, I consider it a phrasal verb.
