Thank You for a nice refreshing grammar lesson to enjoy while drinking my afternoon coffee. Working among non-native speakers makes it difficult to attain correct grammar habits and not to slip. Your have earned my subscription :) Greetings from Slovakia.
Thank you very much for this lesson! It's very, very worthy learning about it. May you be very happy and successful in your personal and professional projects. May everyone everywhere be filled with a lotta peace, good health and harmony.
Hello Alex. my teacher has improved her listening skills because of your videos and scored 8.5. And she suggested your video to me. I hope you help me as well.
Hello teacher! Excellent class as always. I accidentally deleted my previous comment I made about your class, so here I am doing it again. In the other comment, I had a doubt and you clarified it for me. I attend all your classes. Thank you very much.
Thank you very much.. This subject was a major question in my mind for a long time. I mean, I was wondering the accepted mistakes in english. I hope to listen much more examples about accepted mistakes. Again thank you sir.❤
As I mentioned, you don't have to worry about it too much. I wish I used the example of "chickens lay eggs" in the video to make it a little clearer. :)
"There is a lot of..." is actually correct. "A lot" is singular. Here, "lot" is a singular noun meaning a group or set of objects. That is why it uses the article "a". "There are many..." is plural.
Hola. If you can do one video about this mode of listening English and waiting the feedback from people for add another one. Thanks for you help.
Teacher Alex , when you are explaining a lesson ,please you have to use lyrics , if you use lyrics when you explain a lesson about video every person that saw your video he can understand so easily and he got a lot of useful, please teacher make us that request
@6:41 If we're going to be pedantic then it should be "She is the woman *whom* he married," not "She is the woman *who* he married." If we're going to be correct, let's be correct.
The use of “whom” has been being phased out of sentences like this one for decades. You’re right, of course, but popular usage eventually becomes the rule. I advise my students to use “whom” correctly in formal writing and speaking, but in everyday situations, most native speakers have no clue when they should use “whom,” so it’s not fair to expect learners to know when to use it either except as a didactic exercise which satisfies curiosity. It would be wonderful if everyone knew how to use it, though!
If I say my friend and I are going to go to grocery store, is that correct? What if I say my friend and I am, is that accepted? I'm asking this because I usually make this mistake. Thank you for the video ❤️
In this case, "My friend and I are..." is the correct form. You're saying "We are." If you use "or," the verb agrees with the closest subject. For example, "Julia or I am going to get the job." But even in this case, "Julia or I are..." is accepted. "My friend and I am..." sounds weird and isn't accepted...at least, not where I live, and not in the areas I'm familiar with. :)
Hi, Alex. I am a stickler for grammar accuracy. As a result, it always surprises me to see English teachers, some of whom are natives, making these mistakes while teaching.
Ha! What a question. :) Not really, no. As I mentioned, good grammar is always preferable to technically incorrect grammar. If you do make these mistakes, though, it's not a massive deal in a casual setting (unless your friends are grammar jerks!).

I receive e-mails at work and some people don't even sign their mails, let alone being careful with grammar.
If we used in /at instead of at/in,would it be accepted?
The route lay to my home. I'll do my best to go further.
Great

@@engvidAlex Well explained. Thank you very much ❤️
@@engvidAlex Hi, Alex. As an English grammarian, I am afraid that " Julia or I are" is amiss. Instead, Julia or I am is the way to go.

If someone had visited here I would have done something.
😊😊
I hate the contractions!!! xD
Do you write “should of”? 😅
@@engvidAlex jejeje nop. But I have many problems with contractions in listening... 😢
there was a man who has a dog 😂
they're lying and lying :)
Should we as well start making these mistakes to sound natural? 🥲
