- Documentary film of the 2016 attempt to climb and ride the two highest mountains in Africa back to back on mountain bikes, Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya. They were the first to attempt this challenge and they rode more than anybody has ever ridden on the way down with their extreme biking and trials skills.

Back in late 90s my dad attempted to climb kilimanjaro, because my mums always wanted to climb it. Unfortunately she passed away but her ashes are on top. My old man was under a 1000ft from the summit before he had to come back down otherwise he wouldn't be here today. But someone my dad made friends with on the trip completed the task. altitude sickness is no joke!
"Life is more about collecting moments, not things."
Too true!
I love that
You need to collect things, to be able to collect moments..
@@The_Dude_420 You could not be more wrong, take it from an old person. My nephew is truly living the dream and he is doing it with very little money. I on the other hand started to live the dream but backed off because I thought I too needed to collect stuff, I could have not been more wrong.
It's a fact that more you will have things (and money), more you will be able to live intense moments. How would you ride the Kilimanjaro without having collected things before that ? Bikes are not free. Flights are not free. Life is not free (in our society). Ask to a homeless if he is enjoying his life... People who tell you they enjoy their life with nothing don't see that they have already many things.
I like collecting things
I sit watching this again after watching it 3 years ago thinking what if .. Last year I promised myself id get to the alps on Mt Blanc but without a bike it didnt feel the same .. This still calls and again inspires me .
"I thought that if Hans could do it, I could to it too!" - Danny
Famous last words.
come to africa he said
it'll be fun he said
“Fail to prepare, prepare to fail”
"see ye in a wee bit" - Danny exits via helicopter
Brilliant. How many fallen would-be-heroes have thought that over the years?! Danny did brilliantly to recover as well as he did.
Damn… Hans “No Way” Rey. When I was 11 at World Cup in Mammoth Hans signed my poster, and Libor Karas actually let me ride one of his 20” custom red Cannondale trials bikes. After all of that though… Ot Pi from Monty ended up winning like always back then lol… Such fond memories.
Those views on Kilimanjaro were amazing. Like another planet.
Absolutely breathtaking. Hans, you were the inspiration behind my very first mountain bike, a GT back in 1990. Watching this has brought back all my love and joy of biking, almost 30 years later. Thank you.
What a flipping view! Simply breathtaking.
Dear Hans: What a huge tour de force! Congrats to you, Danny and Gerhard. Hans, you have been a big inspiration for me. Because of you I bought a GT Zaskar and rode with it offroad and many years as a bike messenger. I experienced extremely good moments on GT Bicycles. For me the best brand on the planet. The brand with a big cult factor - because of you. Please tell GT to reproduce this classic Zaskar Aluminium silver. Many fans would be really amazed.
Great that you give bicycles to the African people and a big inspiration to the world.
You are a real legend.
Danny MacAskill is an innovator, magician on a bike. INSPIRATIONAL FOR ME. And I'm 46 years old. And I'm pushing me to the limit. I love it!
Brilliant film. Your cinematography was excellent and really helped to capture the incredible landscapes! I know that it was not easy riding the first parts from the top. There is still very little oxygen to be doing hard riding even if it is downhill!
I climbed Kilimanjaro in 1991 and was happy to see it hasn't changed much. I really remember seeing Kibo hut in the distance and thinking it was closer than it was. The air is so clear up there that it is hard to judge distance. When I was there we walked across ice all the way between Gilman's Point and the summit. It was treacherous because it got very slippery when the sun warmed the air and the surface of the ice.
It is wonderful what you are doing with the bicycle donations. I am currently sponsoring two young girls in Kenya to go to school in a remote village. It is very satisfying knowing that you are helping people to help themselves. Cheers from Costa Rica! Come and ride here! It's amazing!
My chi is lighten up more.... it's so satisfying to watch that nature and biking.... ohhh Good God....🙏
The most important about this adventure:
The bikes donation for the people what really needed.
Bravo!
Absolutely amazing.... Did Hans tell poor Danny in advance what really lies ahead climbing these mountains? So cool he managed to come back and finish the second part. And Hans himself? Still a beast and such an inspiring person with great bike skills and his great social effort. Keep up the good work. And also congrats to Gerhard, who also did conquer both summits and descents...
And last but not least THANK YOU SO MUCH for doing it all without e-bikes!!!!! ***** Collect moments, not things*****
That night ascent brought back painful memories. My wife and I climbed Kili in Sept 2010. That final ascent was easily the most difficult experience of my life. My wife was essentially unconscious through it until we reached Stella Point. We got to Stella Point just before sunrise. Our porters handed out the greatest cups of tea I have ever had (I am a coffee drinker). After that, it was a leisurely stroll up to Uruhu Peak. I sure wish we had bikes for the descent. That would have been a blast. Thanks for the video.
Aloha from Hawaii Hans, we met at a local race here back in the 1900's and you and I spoke of that calendar shot you did at Nualolo on Kauai. So good to see you still at it. Just want to give you and your wife my blessings for donating those 230 bikes with people in need. Excellent ! Great video, as always.
Unbridled joy in those guys at the end, as beautiful as the sights.
Thank you very much for taking me along it was breathtaking. It made me feel like I was there....
Hans, you are still kicking it, No limit :) Has some ultra nice shots, lovely!
Marvelously documented. Hans "No Way" Rey, you're still amazing. What an inspiration. How great with Hans and Danny.
Fantastic video. What a journey.
Well done to all who took part.
Hats off to you all.👍
Amazing well worth putting they body,s through the pain barriers for the views and descents . Respect too the three of them something they will never forget. High 5 👍👍👍
What a film. One of my memories of my childhood was looking out the window of a DC 10 on the biggest sand pit in the world and being told it was the Sahara Desert. Having been born in Africa I feel a certain belonging to films from my homeland and this was up there with the best. What an inspiration and Danny your a legend following in a whole line of Scots explorers to Africa and Missionary's like my now departed Dad.
Hans, What an absolute beast. What a cool experience to have. Glad Danny was able to recover and summit with you guys.
you guys are just awesome and blessed.surely there is no limit to the human spirit.thank you guys for making as believe.and welcome back to kenya
I was so inspired by this I nearly got up off the couch
Seriously though, Amazing
Climbed Mt. Kenya, almost climbed Kili... great shots, great adventure thanks Hans and the rest for this inspiring video.
Hope I can remain on the saddle when I reach Han's age.. he is an inspiration.. And Danny combined trials with a bit of freeriding and made mountain biking and art. You guys are legends...
Had goosebumps at the end watching this , totally awe inspiring. Hans Rey could take Chuck Norris in a square go , what a dude. Bravo.
As usual the camera man is the unsung hero !
So that's why they call them mountain bikers and mountain bikes.
An amazing adventure, done with such heart and compassion for the communities they came through. I believe that if you have the chance to improve someone's life, do it without thinking further.
Thank you for this I cried watching the villagers you all are angles born on peddles god bless 🇨🇦
Absolutely AMAZING! And made EVEN better by the wonderfully friendly Kenyan people!

This is just beautiful.. Live on Hans, Danny and Gerhard Czerner. This is the best thing i have watched about mountain biking this year.
Heading back down is one rare ride where the longer you pedal & further you go, the *easier it is to breath!*
From Tanzania this is great
Hans Rey and Danny MacAskill in one video! YT recommendation got it right this time!
That's crazy. Altitude kills and I've been to Everest. Many evacuated even before reaching base. Big respect Hans, Danny and Gerhard. Keep on riding!
It's good to see you guys pursuing epic adventures on real bicycles instead of the motorized variety. Keep up the good work!
Spectacular work gentlemen. Two thumbs full send.
I’m very impressed with you as a mountain biker but even more impressed by you as a human being
Life is more about collecting moments, not things, i cried with that phrase. Beautiful and wonderful proyect! Thank you so much for sharing that moment with us!!
Hans, many years ago (I think it was late 90's) I met you at a Trial Show in Laax Switzerland. It was THAT Moment of Inspiration for me. I bought your book "No Way - Bike Trial Tricks" and I started working on my trial skills. I'll never forget these countless hours standing in front of my tv, watching "Vom Winde verweht" and working on my balance... I hate this film since then, but it was worth it! :) I loved my GT Zaskar LE and thanks to you and this Incredible bike I had the time of my life! btw: if you should have a frame laying around from 1996 size M I would pay nearly everything for it! Thank you so much!
I think my nephew has one of my old Zaskars from those days that he is willing to sell....
@@Hansnowayrey Really? Would be sooo awesome! What size is the Frame?

Hans made mountainbiking so popular back in the 90‘s
He‘s a legend and needs to get a golden hall of fame jacket.
Great Video and greats from Germany.
Awesome video, amazing achievement. When they were on the way back down from Kili I had flashbacks of the MBUK boys in Getagrip riding the volcano.
Most epic bike ride I have seen yet. I push myself when biking but what I do is nothing compared to this.
