How to prune frost damaged plants for more leaves & flowers

Cold winter weather can be very damaging for the plants in our gardens. Cold weather conditions cause damage to plants in your garden as a result of the freezing of plant cells which causes the cell walls to rupture and that part of the plant will perish.  As the weather warms in spring it enables us to get outside and take care of our hardy and half hardy plants and encourage them to grow more leaves and flowers. Pruning frost damaged plant material is an important job in the garden as it prevents the spread of pests and disease on your damaged plants. The process of pruning dead material from frost damaged plants is very easy and it's similar for most of the plants in your garden.
