the kritter lore is by far my magnum opus in my entire editing carreer. this story told in 20 second bursts will be the peak of my legacy when i leave this earth and i think that's pretty cool.
not gonna lie the editor deserves a raise this month for the amazing epsisode and mini story, Kritter too but that is anonther discussion. By the way editor if you see this I would like to request you to put "The Pillar Men Awekening Theme" at least once on the nemleria episode if you can avoid the copy.(pretty please)
1:00:24 For those unaware, it's not that Lara isn't negated yet during the chain (it absolutely is), it's that Lara's GY effect does not activate. Called by the Grave only negates effects on the field and/or activated effects.
The animations really helped out watching this video. Sometimes just watching duel after duel makes it a bit repeating, but the animations gave it a breath of fresh air.
Hi Editor! I am commenting as you asked at 1:58:19 about Critter's story. I think Critter is gonna die. Then be reborn and Ulti-Critter to lead HardLeg to Master 1 in a blaze of glory
This was a cool episode, it flowed really well and never dragged! Interesting to see Ritual Beasts, always loved them as a lore archetype but never really seen their gameplay. Nice job Joe!
"Master 1 is the highest rank on Master Duel's competitive ladder and achieving that rank can be surprisingly easy. These days, only the most braindead decks are strong enough to make the cut. But what if you don't play Tenpai? What if you played a deck that requires you to reverse-engineer string theory to do literally anything? Could you still make it to the top?"
59:27 I really appreciate the dedication to the bit with actually relevant Japanese LMAO. Plus, the Pokemon cries for cannahawk were great. Peak editing
Well, by the end HL showed that Bagooska turbo (feat. The RB Link4 and trap) is probably good enough for the MD duel ladder, granted making it from M2 to M1 took longer than expected
The Trinity of Ulti-Ritual beasts: Ulti Ritual Beast Hardleg Kritter, Ulti Ritual Beast Protos and Ulti Ritual Beast Colossus. Joe these intros just get better and better, this has topped the earth machine one for me
I watched this episode to see if I could learn how and when to interrupt the combos in a meaningful way... I don't think that I did learn that, but I now KNOW to not imperm Elder.
Ok I’ll admit it, the intro got me good. I saw Ritual Beasts in the title and thought “yeah I know those cards, that’s that fusion archetype with the funny interaction where Apelio’s attack boost doesn’t work on Ulti-Apelio” then you mentioned ritual monsters and my brain started doing backflips trying to figure out what archetype I was thinking of and what archetype you were actually doing
Really love the lore and editing for the episode. Not to say the past eps was slog or anything. But this was really refreshing. Glad the long wait was absolutely worth it. Keep it up Mrjoe
Im a fan of this episode, it has a better flow and rythymn. Everything feels relevant to the video, and i also got to learn how to play it! Pretty sick hardleg gets to play a good deck thats so unpopular it fits the show
1) Loved the lore snippets, I need more 2) The deck really grew on me. At first it was the typical "You do your combo, the opponent scoops" kind of deal, but once you got to master (and didn't constantly make colossus or protos) the games were a lot more interesting
One, props to the editor for the Kritter lore. Two, the deck certainly seems powerful but it also feels very one-note and I think that has more to do with the meta and what's available for the deck itself to use rather than your own skill. Feels like everything is either tenpai or anti-tenpai for the time being so as a result it's all kinda samey - different engines, same outcome is about as good as it gets. Kinda feels like once Tenpai gets hit and people aren't just constantly running the same things then that could facilitate some changes in strategy, or Ritual Beasts needing new members just to make things fresh. I get they're complicated but it also felt like at some point it's moreso a tree of choices. I get D/D/D flashbacks with how that archetype needed charts and such, just far more compact due to fewer, more efficient members.
Even if Taotie said control and not possession, you still cannot activate Number 101: SIlent Honor ARK. From the OCG database: My opponent controls an Armed Dragon Thunder LV10, and its "● 10+" effect that prevents control of it from switching is being applied. In this scenario, can I activate the effect of my Cyber Dragon Infinity that attaches the target to it as material by targeting that Armed Dragon Thunder LV10? A: No, you cannot. Attaching an opponent's monster to a monster you control as material is considered changing control of that opponent's monster. Similarly, the following effects also cannot be activated by targeting an opponent's monster if control of it cannot be changed, and you also cannot choose such a monster when they resolve: ● Number C101: Silent Honor DARK's ①st effect ● Cyber Dragon Infinity's ②nd effect ● Goblin Biker Big Gabonga's ②nd effect ● the ● effect granted by Purrely Pretty Memory ● Barian Untopia's ②nd effect ● N.As.H. Knight's ②nd effect Furthermore, this also applies to the following monsters whose control cannot be changed: ● Heart of the Blue-Eyes ● Botanical Lion ● Element Valkyrie ● Element Magician ● Element Soldier ● Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4 ● Mataza the Zapper ● Blindly Loyal Goblin ● a monster that was Synchro Summoned using Taotie, Shadow of the Yang Zing ● a monster that was Xyz Summoned using Lyrilusc - Beryl Canary db.ygoresources.com/qa#23119
I assume the lore ends with Unicorn dying, realizing they never had a chance against Kritter, the game was rigged from the start, and Kritter can just do whatever. Whether it succeeds or fails doesn't matter. Kritter can just do on a whem and that's how it be.
4:58 I had already left a like, but your reminder triggered a pavlovian response, causing me to unlike the video again, so then I had to like the video again again, which is really just an encapsulation of how anything involving cannahawk works
Here’s some jokes: When a swordsoul player starts their turn, you better believe its gonna be a longyuan How many pizzas did the Ranked master duel player order? Tenpais
Another excellent climb to binge over a few days! Very funny to see it essentially become a tenpai shutdown simulator lol. That's just the ladder these days. Also very insightful. I am usually pretty harsh on myself for my win rates, and how ive never been in master rank before. But seeing that he hit M1 with 66% win rate makes me feel better. I'm sure mine is at least that good, i just need to put in more games. Thanks for keeping up the long form videos, crew :)
Aside from protos nonsense, which is legal in every format for some awful reason, this deck is really fun. Id love to see a yugioh of consistent, interactive and resilient decks that doesn't have as much lockdown and floodgate nonsense, it would be a much more engaging 2 player experience
Protos is a weird one, on one side yeah it is very obnoxious, and on the other hand Hardleg got a better win rate when he removed the bricks to summon it.
Interesting, the spike in your win rate after switching to the Bagooska Imperm build seems to confirm that the Nemeses are extra that doesn't _generally_ make the deck better, as some professional players have maintained.
It's wild how playing a complicated deck caused so many misplays not from Joe but from opponents misreading interactions. Like, so many of the wins here benefit from negates missing timing it's insane
I appreciate the story of Spiritual Beast Kritter, more little skits like that could be fun provided they don't take up too much space. None of it would've happened if Joe just ran a full Kashtira package though smh.
Hardleg Joe u should put ur squeaky toy on ur channel more often becuz it was funny n made my dog bark (it’s a girl btw) for some odd reason just by hearing that multiple times from my tv screen. It got her confused to where it was coming from lol😂. Btw I enjoy this episode/deck to Masters.
This was pretty short this time - it seems like there is a lot of cut content especially with the long introduction to the deck cutting into more duel time. Still amazing, nonetheless
Yeah, I've been trying to make the episodes shorter recently. The Odd-Eyes and Ancient Gear episodes both passed 4 hours, and neither performed really well.
i had saved all these cards on my road to tenpai since i kinda liked them after watching a 10 minute guide for a basic line i got rid of them all to finish tenpai not for me ragna-trix is already my timer is my enemy deck
