This is a world class movie and I’m very sorry but Tom cruise just kills it. He’s a very very good actor.

Renee Zellweger outperformed both Tom Cruise and Cuba Gooding, Jr. If anyone deserved an Oscar nomination, it should have been her. Robbed of a nomination and an Oscar win.

Cruise has had so many brilliant acting performances but by far his two best were Jerry Maguire and Rain Man.

Renee Zwellger's facial expressions during the monologue were even better acting then Cruise's monologue.
She was amazing in that respect. Not only this but the rest of the movie.

@@MrKvp1 I love his movies he's usually a guarantee of a good movie even if you don't know what its about! I'd recommend born on the 4th though its a very different role than the ones we're used to seeing him in.

So...here's the thing...
This scene comes immediately after the Cardinals played the Cowboys in Phoenix, AZ on Christmas night. The game would have ended at about 9:30 Pacific Time, and after Jerry has his meeting with Rod Tidwell in the tunnel, it's at least 10pm. Jerry then goes to the airport, gets on a plane, flies 90 minutes to Los Angeles, deplanes, drives to Dorothy's home, where she and the gals are still sipping their drinks...conservatively 1:45-2am. On Christmas. Just sayin'.

They have no romantic chemistry. He never seemed in love with her; he decided to settle for not having any passion, even saying to a guy friend who did have passion in his marriage, "Not everyone can have what you have." People who cheer on this "romance" are weird. lol. I said this in a previous post and people replied, "Well, you don't know movies." Good Lord. Just accept that this is a foolish union. Him making a speech at the end and saying "you complete me" doesn't make everything okay. He found her boring for the whole movie and then decides at the end that he'd like someone to share good news with. It's a total sham. Why do you think this shit is romantic? lol. He liked her a lot; he wasn't in love with her.
The sports part of this movie is not bad. But this has to be one of the worst movie "romances" ever. It actually makes me sad because there is such obvious settling happening in this situation. I feel bad for both characters because she's being settled for and he's settling. it's not a shot at Renee Zelwegger or Tom Cruise. Fairly indifferent to both. And he's had chemistry with many actresses he's been on the big screen with. Same for Renee with lead actors. But with each other - no. And the storyline is sad. Just because he's a "good man" and good-looking doesn't mean he has to be your husband. He's not the only man in the world with integrity. Find a man with integrity who's in love with you, not one who finds you boring for months and months and months but then gets lonely. Just saying!
