The biggest beef I had about Marvel's direction after ENDGAME was that the movies in Phase 4 were based on storylines of shows from the streaming services. I ddin't want to subscribe to yet another streaming service just so I can follow a movie storyline. I felt like I was studying for a thesis just trying to keep up.

Identity politics as its base concept has never been the issue, Marvel has always dabbled in making superheroes specifically for certain demographics. Where they alienated people is that they not only prioritised those superheroes based solely on representation and not what their characters could be but they also put those badly written characters at the forefront and pushing the old characters back where they didn’t deserve to be

Just a continuation of the X-Man 90s animated series…I doubt it will be relevant to the mcu’s version of the X-Men (but at this point, not many are going to care, like you said Cap 4 is shaping up to be a mess) Shang-Chi was great. Moon Knight was easily the second best (live action) D+ show after Loki. So I agree with those as well. So we have 4 solid movies in phase 4-5 and two great shows. Out of God knows how many recent projects there are now. Very frustrating, the good stuff we’ve gotten proved we are not fatigued from the MCU post-endgame, only tired of mediocre/bad quality that’s all.
They succeed when they followed the classic comics. They died when they followed the modern comics. The exact same mistakes. Companies never learn the danger of ignoring the most passionate fans in a futile pursuit of the mythical modern audience.
This is such a good video that perfectly captures my exact problems with The MCU After Endgame! From the lack of a cohesive storyline in the saga, to ruined established/new characters and overall quantity over quality plus the removal of Kang after already failing him in Ant Man Quantumania just made things worse, the MCU’s downfall is truly sad to think about. They really peaked with Infinity War and Endgame. Tbh, Spider-Man No Way Home, GOTG3, Shang-Chi, and some good shows (especially Loki & Moon Knight) were the only saving graces since. Deadpool & Wolverine was awesome too, even if the movie is aware that the MCU is at their lowest as Wade Wilson says.

@Cam-ek4xg Shang-chi should've been a show. Keeping it street level and focused on martial arts. No big CGI fight. Could've been used to build up the street level side of things with cameos from other street level characters like Daredevil and Iron fist. The movie as it is, is just sort of mid.

@ endgame hasn’t aged horribly at all and is still one of the best comic book movies and conclusions to a franchise. But I’m happy to agree to disagree on that. The specific post-endgame projects I mentioned I don’t think are mid/bad at all either (especially high/top tier ones like Spider-Man NWH, GOTG3 and Loki). With this said though, my investment in the MCU declined when they started putting out actual trash like Thor 4, Dr Strange 2, She Hulk, Ant Man 3 etc and especially the failure of the Kang story arc which Loki set up so perfectly only for Quantumania to ruin that character and story arc completely plus RDJ as Doom I think is ridiculous.
Marvel isn't dead, just not as popular as it used to be. If it were truly dead, D&W wouldn't have been such a massive succes. But if you compare it to DC, then DC is barely still alive. Half of the movies marvel released in the last few years were mediocre/bad and the other half were good, but out of the last 10 DC movies, the only one that wasn't a catastrophic failure was The Batman. If you ask me, Marvel is definitely making a comeback, the trailers for Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts were well received.

There’s a difference between the brand being dead and a movie within it being dead. When the brand is thriving, movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Cpt Marvel get a chance and become blockbusters, simply because people will go due to the brand. But with Deadpool, he’d be successful whether he was with Marvel or Fox, he already has an audience. But when they release Eternals or The Marvels? Boom, instant flops. So you can’t make arguments using successful characters. The argument can only be made by less popular characters becoming mega successful simply through brand association.
Honestly, I think most of the major cracks and problems started back in Endgame. It's like they didn't think about the consequences of anything. They seemed to want to rush to the end, and the result was a poorly written and downright lazy film. It's also aged horribly.

We also don’t want these better and more powerful women taking over from their male counterparts, while being 100x better than their original counterparts despite doing 100x less work. For example, iron man, Hawkeye, Loki etc. We absolutely love women characters which are written like real women and/or are relatable (original black widow), but the modern day marvel course has hired activists, ruining its quality.
They lost their heavy hitters in the beginning like X-men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil. Characters that were in Ultimate Alliance do to rights issues.
I'm too cynical to believe Disney simply "got it wrong" and wants to or will eventually do better. In my estimation, this entire thing was a bait and switch. This was cemented for me, coincidentally, by a line from Disney's Star Wars. Kylo Ren tells Rey "Let the past die. Kill it if you have to. It's the only way to become who you were meant to be." This is literally classic Marxist philosophy. This is why there were statues of Stalin pointing towards"the future" leaving the past behind. Once they (think they) hooked you with nostalgia, it was time to start with the "woke"/leftist agenda and identify politics. This is why, after the success of the Avengers run, things took a drastic nose dive. I saw it coming when they unnecessarily switched Thanos' motivation from being obsessed with death (which made far more sense for a maniac) to some stupid goal of (surprise, surprise), equal distribution of resources. Not that the goal is bad, but the way they played it made no sense. Kill half of everything and... then what? Was Thanos too stupid to factor in greed? Or natural reproduction? Was his plan to snap indefinitely to ensure living things remained at a constant rate? No, the plan was stupid but because they're leftists, they had to introduce the agenda. This is why Luke and Han became mockeries of what they were. The past must die. This is not by accident, but by design. Disney doesn't have to care that they lose money because, like any other business, a loss is just a tax write-off. The agenda is the goal. Nothing else matters.

Give Marvel a break. The MCU wasn't a "universe", it was a handful of timeless characters accompanied by brilliant casting. It was also loosely the Saga of Iron Man. Their story was told, that vein was mined, and it's over. Just like Madonna, they had their heyday, but nothing lasts forever.
I really liked about lot of what Marvel has put out, even some I know a lot of people don’t like such as Thor: Love and Thunder. But the biggest problem was definitely trying to just output movies and shows for the sake of it, something I personally blame Bob Chapek, former CEO of Disney, for the most since his attempt to give Disney+ more worth ended up backfiring. Nowadays it’s clear that people are placing their money to what characters they want to follow in this universe which is one reason why films like No Way Home, Guardians 3, and Deadpool and Wolverine did so well. I personally have not seen everything as I too would get burned out of Marvel if I did, which makes any I do choose to watch feel better, but that doesn’t hide how complacent Disney got after so many movies under their umbrella absolutely dominated the box office in 2019 and after how popular the Mandalorian got.
After Endgame, they really should’ve ended the MCU as they’d been going on for 11 years at that point & they would never be able to top the first 3 phases. And maybe 5 years down the line, reboot the property by starting out with new characters they got back from Fox because there are plenty of stories to tell with the Marvel characters & totally new potential to do things better than the MCU did such as having films that while being fun take themselves more seriously as opposed to being littered with annoying cheap humor that isn’t even funny or actually having good villains who aren’t generic mustache twirling annoyances like basically every MCU villain was except for Thanos.
They won’t be able to fix this at all because Superhero movies are DEAD. Endgame was its peak and it’s clear they can’t come up with anything else at this point. The Avengers movie I could see beating Endgame is one involving a crossover with DC and Warner bros, besides that they already done it all.

Although Black Widow, Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Deadpool and Wolverine were the only real success Marvel have in the Multiverse Saga in the MCU, the rest like Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn’t really do that well while The Marvels flopped big time making it the first MCU movie to be one of the biggest box office bomb in history. To be fair, Deadpool and Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are the best and my favorites of the silver age era aka Multiverse Saga of the MCU.
Honestly going for Kang was a mistake. The concept of having unlimited variants works on a comic book scope but not in a cinematic scope. After Antman defeated a variant, he will get replaced by another Kang, and another Kang, etc. It feels dull and uneventful.

you don't know if human biology will work exactly the same when they have superpowers. Obviously there are a lot of biological changes neccesary to give you the super abilites, so how can you assume the men stronger than women fact will not change when almost everything else does
Another point that should be made is Disney started focusing more on girl bosses and making the men look stupid destroying their characters all just to get a message across is another reason that they started failing not to mention superhero fatigue
Eight minutes and fifty seconds and you completely missed the number one and main why the mcu quality declined. The change in CEO's. Bob Iger and Kevin Feige gave us the Infinity Saga. An eleven year, well crafted story. After Endgame, Iger stepped down and Bob Chapek took over. While Feige is still the EP of the MCU, he still answers to the CEO. Chapek saw the Infinity Saga and tried to go bigger and in a shorter amount of time..... The quality suffered. In December 2022, Chapek was kicked out and Iger returned. Iger and Feige are trying to change course and change course correctly. DP&W is a clear sign they're doing it right
I can think the comics books movies will die down as a lot of people are losing interest in it, they want the 80s and 90s movies again. I think it'll probably come back, it just going to take time.
I would have just recasted promising characters such as Black Panther,Kang,etc… l also thought they should have introduced new characters via stand alone features,then work up to more complex storylines 🤔
Not for nothing but NO, the original plan for phase 1 did NOT contain Marvels most popular superheroes. They were the remnants of what Marvel still owned bc it sold the rights long ago bc it was near bankruptcy. Spider-man is and still is its bread and butter. Phase 1 was all B or C list characters almost no one but nerds knew of. Loki and Shang chi sucked.

Okay but here's my true theory actually there was some idiot who went back in time somewhere in the past from 2000s my theory was that person who's from the future who went back in time in the past for something that we didn't know in the future and that's how that creates an alternate 2010s-20s that means we're leaving in an alternate timeline
Kang would have worked if he had killed antman in quantumania. Bring paul rudd back through multiverse in secret wars or doomsday. reboot things later as planned. I think it would have worked most when Kang actually tooked out some of the heroes through out the phases making him more of a threat than Thanos. Maybe erase entire timelines as well. Like what if shown in deadpool 3 that he erased entire timelines of previous old films that is why we see remnants of those cameos in movie (elektra, blade, etc...). anyways... we never get good stuff.
Well with the timeline stuff Kang did erase timelines in the flash back during Janet and Kang in ant man 3 it showed his past actions of killing worlds and timelines breaking and being destroyed but other then that I totally agree with you I’m a major Kang fan and I’m disappointed how bad they ruined my character in the mcu but in the original script of ant man 3 Kang did win but they changed it really fast because of leaks.

Like they could've made something similar to fantastic 4 first steps where he would destroy their timeline so they have to escape and end up in earth 616/199999. Imagine the horror. Like entire phase 5 and 6 could be movies just heroes losing and universes poping out. As a story writer myself, I can guarantee, people would be more scared of kang than thanos and infinity stones because now threat to universe is way too much real. Endgame worked because of same principle. We saw what thanos and stones could do, so we wanted heroes to win in endgame.

Just a continuation of the X-Man 90s animated series…I doubt it will be relevant to the mcu’s version of the X-Men (but at this point, not many are going to care, like you said Cap 4 is shaping up to be a mess) Shang-Chi was great. Moon Knight was easily the second best (live action) D+ show after Loki. So I agree with those as well. So we have 4 solid movies in phase 4-5 and two great shows. Out of God knows how many recent projects there are now. Very frustrating, the good stuff we’ve gotten proved we are not fatigued from the MCU post-endgame, only tired of mediocre/bad quality that’s all.

Self explanatory: Disney got greedy. They over saturated the market and there just aren’t that many stories to tell
They succeed when they followed the classic comics. They died when they followed the modern comics. The exact same mistakes. Companies never learn the danger of ignoring the most passionate fans in a futile pursuit of the mythical modern audience.
This is such a good video that perfectly captures my exact problems with The MCU After Endgame! From the lack of a cohesive storyline in the saga, to ruined established/new characters and overall quantity over quality plus the removal of Kang after already failing him in Ant Man Quantumania just made things worse, the MCU’s downfall is truly sad to think about. They really peaked with Infinity War and Endgame.
Tbh, Spider-Man No Way Home, GOTG3, Shang-Chi, and some good shows (especially Loki & Moon Knight) were the only saving graces since. Deadpool & Wolverine was awesome too, even if the movie is aware that the MCU is at their lowest as Wade Wilson says.

@Cam-ek4xg Shang-chi should've been a show. Keeping it street level and focused on martial arts. No big CGI fight. Could've been used to build up the street level side of things with cameos from other street level characters like Daredevil and Iron fist. The movie as it is, is just sort of mid.

@ endgame hasn’t aged horribly at all and is still one of the best comic book movies and conclusions to a franchise. But I’m happy to agree to disagree on that. The specific post-endgame projects I mentioned I don’t think are mid/bad at all either (especially high/top tier ones like Spider-Man NWH, GOTG3 and Loki). With this said though, my investment in the MCU declined when they started putting out actual trash like Thor 4, Dr Strange 2, She Hulk, Ant Man 3 etc and especially the failure of the Kang story arc which Loki set up so perfectly only for Quantumania to ruin that character and story arc completely plus RDJ as Doom I think is ridiculous.

Marvel isn't dead, just not as popular as it used to be. If it were truly dead, D&W wouldn't have been such a massive succes. But if you compare it to DC, then DC is barely still alive. Half of the movies marvel released in the last few years were mediocre/bad and the other half were good, but out of the last 10 DC movies, the only one that wasn't a catastrophic failure was The Batman. If you ask me, Marvel is definitely making a comeback, the trailers for Captain America 4 and Thunderbolts were well received.

There’s a difference between the brand being dead and a movie within it being dead. When the brand is thriving, movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Cpt Marvel get a chance and become blockbusters, simply because people will go due to the brand. But with Deadpool, he’d be successful whether he was with Marvel or Fox, he already has an audience. But when they release Eternals or The Marvels? Boom, instant flops.
So you can’t make arguments using successful characters. The argument can only be made by less popular characters becoming mega successful simply through brand association.

Honestly, I think most of the major cracks and problems started back in Endgame. It's like they didn't think about the consequences of anything. They seemed to want to rush to the end, and the result was a poorly written and downright lazy film. It's also aged horribly.

Not that the goal is bad, but the way they played it made no sense. Kill half of everything and... then what? Was Thanos too stupid to factor in greed? Or natural reproduction? Was his plan to snap indefinitely to ensure living things remained at a constant rate? No, the plan was stupid but because they're leftists, they had to introduce the agenda.
This is why Luke and Han became mockeries of what they were. The past must die. This is not by accident, but by design.
Disney doesn't have to care that they lose money because, like any other business, a loss is just a tax write-off. The agenda is the goal. Nothing else matters.

Give Marvel a break. The MCU wasn't a "universe", it was a handful of timeless characters accompanied by brilliant casting. It was also loosely the Saga of Iron Man.

I really liked about lot of what Marvel has put out, even some I know a lot of people don’t like such as Thor: Love and Thunder. But the biggest problem was definitely trying to just output movies and shows for the sake of it, something I personally blame Bob Chapek, former CEO of Disney, for the most since his attempt to give Disney+ more worth ended up backfiring. Nowadays it’s clear that people are placing their money to what characters they want to follow in this universe which is one reason why films like No Way Home, Guardians 3, and Deadpool and Wolverine did so well. I personally have not seen everything as I too would get burned out of Marvel if I did, which makes any I do choose to watch feel better, but that doesn’t hide how complacent Disney got after so many movies under their umbrella absolutely dominated the box office in 2019 and after how popular the Mandalorian got.
After Endgame, they really should’ve ended the MCU as they’d been going on for 11 years at that point & they would never be able to top the first 3 phases. And maybe 5 years down the line, reboot the property by starting out with new characters they got back from Fox because there are plenty of stories to tell with the Marvel characters & totally new potential to do things better than the MCU did such as having films that while being fun take themselves more seriously as opposed to being littered with annoying cheap humor that isn’t even funny or actually having good villains who aren’t generic mustache twirling annoyances like basically every MCU villain was except for Thanos.

They won’t be able to fix this at all because Superhero movies are DEAD. Endgame was its peak and it’s clear they can’t come up with anything else at this point. Like I said, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has lost their steam after the end of the golden age era aka Infinity Saga with both Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home and the death of Stan Lee. Although Black Widow, Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Deadpool and Wolverine were the only real success Marvel have in the Multiverse Saga in the MCU, the rest like Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn’t really do that well while The Marvels flopped big time making it the first MCU movie to be one of the biggest box office bomb in history. To be fair, Deadpool and Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Shang Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are the best and my favorites of the silver age era aka Multiverse Saga of the MCU.

Honestly going for Kang was a mistake. The concept of having unlimited variants works on a comic book scope but not in a cinematic scope. After Antman defeated a variant, he will get replaced by another Kang, and another Kang, etc. It feels dull and uneventful.

Eight minutes and fifty seconds and you completely missed the number one and main why the mcu quality declined. The change in CEO's. Bob Iger and Kevin Feige gave us the Infinity Saga. An eleven year, well crafted story. After Endgame, Iger stepped down and Bob Chapek took over. While Feige is still the EP of the MCU, he still answers to the CEO. Chapek saw the Infinity Saga and tried to go bigger and in a shorter amount of time..... The quality suffered. In December 2022, Chapek was kicked out and Iger returned. Iger and Feige are trying to change course and change course correctly. DP&W is a clear sign they're doing it right
I can think the comics books movies will die down as a lot of people are losing interest in it, they want the 80s and 90s movies again. I think it'll probably come back, it just going to take time.

Not for nothing but NO, the original plan for phase 1 did NOT contain Marvels most popular superheroes. They were the remnants of what Marvel still owned bc it sold the rights long ago bc it was near bankruptcy. Spider-man is and still is its bread and butter. Phase 1 was all B or C list characters almost no one but nerds knew of. Loki and Shang chi sucked.

Kang would have worked if he had killed antman in quantumania. Bring paul rudd back through multiverse in secret wars or doomsday. reboot things later as planned. I think it would have worked most when Kang actually tooked out some of the heroes through out the phases making him more of a threat than Thanos. Maybe erase entire timelines as well. Like what if shown in deadpool 3 that he erased entire timelines of previous old films that is why we see remnants of those cameos in movie (elektra, blade, etc...). anyways... we never get good stuff.
Well with the timeline stuff Kang did erase timelines in the flash back during Janet and Kang in ant man 3 it showed his past actions of killing worlds and timelines breaking and being destroyed but other then that I totally agree with you I’m a major Kang fan and I’m disappointed how bad they ruined my character in the mcu but in the original script of ant man 3 Kang did win but they changed it really fast because of leaks.

Like they could've made something similar to fantastic 4 first steps where he would destroy their timeline so they have to escape and end up in earth 616/199999. Imagine the horror. Like entire phase 5 and 6 could be movies just heroes losing and universes poping out. As a story writer myself, I can guarantee, people would be more scared of kang than thanos and infinity stones because now threat to universe is way too much real. Endgame worked because of same principle. We saw what thanos and stones could do, so we wanted heroes to win in endgame.

Otherwise, Both Dr Strange 2 and Thor 4 were terrible, they messed up the Kang story arc too. It’s not looking great.
