The industry was fueled by whoever invested in it with big budgets and had the industry promotional mechanisms on lock. Had DWoods had a multinational backing her, radio and TV providing a platform for her the way it did for Dannity Kane, she'd have blown up. When you're out of sight, you're out of mind. Social Media has now cut onto the industry's monopoly. Making payola obsolete, or having to go to a specific entity in order to get exposure. It's all fair game now.

STixa CC Diddy was what happened to her. Once Diddy drops you from HIS label, your music career is essentially over. He's so powerful in the biz that you will never be able to get a deal from any other label because those labels don't want to ruin their relationship with him. Now she can still do indie projects and perform in coffeehouses but she will never be mainstream again. That's the ruthlessness of the music industry and she was just another casualty.

Basically groups did not have to worry about copyright publishing et cetera until everything went digital it because now you're not actually selling records you're selling downloaded songs
So a lot of artists will have one song that will go platinum and the rest of the album not sell they still make money but they have to focus on publishing they have to make money from going on tour there's just all sorts of facets to that's it's to the business now that didn't exist 20 plus years ago
The other problem with making the band and watching what happened diddy didn't care he was interested in making money for himself he put together individuals that were inexperienced to the point where they were not going to get along no matter what you did so but so he put together things that were going to we're going to implode at some point whether he fired all of them or they all just quit it was a matter of time
